I ordered the grilled Chicken Alfredo and after the suggestion of our waitress added shrimp to my dinning experience. My meal was delicious and the Alfredo sauce was just right. My better half also echoed the sentiment that the Chicken Florentine and sides were delicious. Naturally we had to go all in on dessert. I went for the Peach Cobbler with ice cream and my better half went for the cheesecake. Well let's say they were beyond delicious. We were in town visiting friends from out of state, and decided on Charred Oak. The area there is beautiful! The restaurant is charming, and unique. We were a little taken aback by back on lack of communication between employees of where we were to be seated, and the one guy seemed to one miffed as if it was our fault, but seated us eventually. Just felt odd. Anyway...I ordered the pork chops with brussels sprouts. Omg-the best pork chops ever! I am very picky about pork chops too. Just sooo tender and flavorful! Justin was an amazing waiter! He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. He checked on us often without being overbearing and had such a positive attitude the entire time. Great service really makes a difference, and Justin definitely made our experience enjoyable. We'll definitely be back! I will say, the greeting at the door was a little off and honestly took me back at first since it was our first time visiting. We stood at the door for several minutes without really being acknowledged or given a quick "we'll be with you shortly." Fried green tomatoes were thick af although seasoned well it brings it down to 7/10. Collard Greens were sweet yet vinegary. Could use some hot sauce. The black eyed peas were yummy. The drinks were fantastic, we ordered the Peach Palmer and the Bramble Para Amigos (highly recommend the peach palmer is was delicious.) Food was awesome! My steak was rare and tasty and so was the meatloaf but not what we were expecting with the burgers. I am not saying it's not worth a try but just don't expect it to be gourmet style. We are again here visiting my son and he wanted to try this place for a while. Four people, one beer and 3 soft drinks, 2 burgers a steak and meatloaf and the bill was over $100. I found Charred Oak when I was online looking for a good burger. And, there are several options on their menu. As it happens, I opted for the Shrimp and Grits instead. Really some of the better made shrimp and grits I've had in Columbus. My server was very attentive. I sat at the bar and just had a relaxed lunch with an ale from Texas. I imagine it is more packed in the evenings when people are home from work, as it looks to be apart of a quaint residential community. BEWARE... READ THE FINE PRINT ON THE MENU BEFORE YOU GO. We won't be going back. Food was ok, but I'm having a hard time supporting a restaurant with these business practices. #1) Prices are CASH prices (says it on the bottom of the menu) ... we noticed it and asked what the surcharge was. Both of the wait staff said there is a 4% up charge for using either a CREDIT Card or DEBIT Card. Yes, we asked both because they didn't know how much the surcharge was and this is the first time I ever heard of a surcharge for using a debit card (with the Visa Logo) let alone a menu anywhere saying prices are cash prices. #2). There is a $10 surcharge to share a plate (says it on the Menu). It didn't impact us but, never have I seen this. #3). All food and Beverage sales are final (says it on the menu). We didn't need/want to return anything but this is the first time I have ever seen a restaurant take this stance. My three guest and myself are all senior citizens. This was my third visit to Charred Oak Kitchen & Bar, I had never experienced a problem until last night 8/17 with my supposedly 14oz Ribeye steak order. We brung the issue to the Only management on duty (Kitchen Mgr) attention, my steak was possibly 7oz at best because it was over 50% blubber fat, being a senior I suffer from multiple illnesses to include high cholesterol blood pressure and diabetes. I asked to have either another steak or a 50% discount on this order only not any refund. I was told all of their steaks come in fatty like this and unfortunately there isn't anything to be done because all sales food or drinks within Charred Oaks are final. (Listed at the very bottom of the menu. I disagree with this because our cocktails were made incorrectly and they remade them (Yet all sales are supposed to be final) we were told Only the owners could take care of any issues but also said they can't be reached at said time. To add insult to injury the menu states 36.00 for the Ribeye yet I was charged 37.44 without cause. We previously highly recommended this establishment to are couple friends who came with us to dine this evening and to have this poor food product prepared was a disgrace. The four of us will never eat there again because they obviously don't have quality concerns for any of their customers with individual issues and or concerns. We came here for a birthday party hearing the food was good and that is true the food was good but there were a lot of down falls. We first ordered drinks and they were out of martini glasses and they put them in glasses and as a bartender I knew they were under poured.... And not strong as a martini. The salad was brown. The chicken Alfredo was good but made me made when I said my friend wanted some and they told me they would charge me $10 for that... so if you want to split or share some food don't let them know you'll have an extra $$ on your bill! Over all service wasn't amazing and the ambiance wasn't what i expected for the price of the food. Definitely could use some improvement on the menu/service aspect. read more

The food here isn't very good. My husband & I ordered fried green tomatoes to start, both of us ordered different burgers. The fried green tomatoes are frozen, by the waitress' own admission. Not sure if the burgers are also frozen, but they sure tasted like it. Prices are too high, especially for frozen food. I am a first time local visitor here and I must say, I truly enjoyed myself. I visited on a Tuesday afternoon around 3 pm with one other individual and we practically had the place to ourselves. Our bartender Nicole was amazing and she, as well as Tim, provided some stellar recommendations. The environment is definitely chic and a place for both men and women. No, there isn't a gender neutral restroom. However, there is an touch-less faucet in the restroom as well as a trashcan pedal. There is adequate seating indoors as well as outdoors. The food and drinks were quite delicious. The collards were on the sweet side and my friend still ate them without the hot sauce pictured. We plan on visiting again for dinner. The restaurant is a small, nice, clean, and the staff was friendly right when you walk in the door. If you are a whiskey/Bourbon drinker you will be pleased with the bar selection. I ordered the seafood pasta which was great once you mix the seafood in with the noodles. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits. We realized the restaurant uses the same seafood mixture in both dishes. The mixture included shrimp, crawfish, and sausage. Over all, the food was great the service was even better. I've been to this restaurant multiple times and I've never had an issue until today. Before I go into this review, I also never have an issue tipping. I always tip 15-20%, but on my own. So today, I ate my meal and enjoyed a few drinks. Always a good vibe, good setting and good service. Absolutely zero issues. I ask the young lady waiting my table for the check. If you like good bourbon this is your place! Even at their highest price point they are very reasonable. (Their $75 whistle pig is served for $125 at Tavola on Sea Island) The food was all great. We had the Rick House fries- absolutely delicious. We had the special smoked Gouda and lobster Mac, the meatloaf, and Caesar salad. The Mac was absolutely creamy and delicious just as it should be. The meatloaf was a hardy portion and not as sweet as expected from some of the reviews. One of our guests had the Caesar salad and said it was delicious. I can only attest to it being a nice sized dinner salad. As other reviews have stated- definitely get the peach cobbler! The 4 of us shared one as a nice ending to a wonderful meal. I would almost take a star off for the service. There were at least 5 dining room servers and 3 bar servers but overall from what I saw they were not super attentive to the 4 tables with diners. We got one drink refilled but I never got more water. No offer of dessert, so I am presuming that our server might be new to the gig. The food was very good. We are on a mission to try Shrimp and Grits everywhere we can, and this was very tasty. Except it was tagged as having "au jus" but it was really just a ladle of grease. Other than that, the dish was great. Many shrimps, crawfish, and abundant sausage. Nicely seasoned but so greasy. Shrimp and grits cakes were a fun take on the main course, and the squash casserole was very good. Edited: after thinking it through, and enduring a stomachache from all the grease in the S&G, I took off a star. Plus I remembered that our server left the credit card machine for us to figure out.
