Charter Communications has a monopoly in this area to provide cable services, so you're basically…read morestuck with them unless you want to go with a satellite provider. Their "slogan" is that they are "Reliable." NOT! We have had three different cable companies in the three different towns we've lived in over the past 15 years (Maryland and North Carolina), and Charter is BY FAR THE WORST of all three cable companies. The only way to get any satisfaction on invoice problems, service problems, reception problems, etc., is to make a big stink with the Better Business Bureau and the NC Attorney General's Consumer Protection office; then watch them run! Seriously, who wants to have to do this? I didn't, but it was the only way to get my problem worked out. Once I complained to both of these organizations, I got resolution within a few days. In fact, I had three different customer service representatives in the "escalation department" helping at the same time. Funny, though, because none of them knew that someone else was helping me. So much for "communications" problems... even within their own company. Anyway, you have to do what you have to do and, if you're having problems with them, this is the quickest way to get their attention! Cable, or any other monopolies should be outlawed, but the cable companies have us by the balls in Wilmington, North Carolina, people! Next stop, the legislators who grant franchises and make the laws.

My experience with TWC in North Myrtle Beach has been consistently positive…read more Having been a customer of this company for several years, I've had few problems in the first place, with my service offering great performance and a near-100% uptime (for internet, at least; I've never used the TV side of the service). However, on the rare occasion that I've required assistance, TWC and their folks have always been fast, capable, and friendly, from the front-desk receptionist when paying my bill, to the repair man when they once had to roll a truck to my place. After reading the other, negative reviews here, I'll say that, perhaps, I'm just lucky in my dealings with TWC; but, for what it's worth, I have only good things to say about it. All in all, I am grateful for this business and those who run it. Much thanks :)

I signed up for and agreed to a specific Spectrum plan for new service in Conway South Carolina…read more After installation, I received a bill charging $40 more per month than the package we contracted for. When I contacted Spectrum, I explained they had installed a different package than the one we signed up for. They assured me they would correct it and adjust the billing to match the agreed plan. Today, when I went to pay the bill, the error had not been fixed. I contacted them again, and this time they refused to make the adjustment, claiming they "don't prorate bills." This was never about proration--they simply installed and billed for a package we never agreed to. Spectrum is engaging in deceptive billing practices. It's disappointing that they treat customers this way, especially new ones. A reputable company would have corrected its own mistake, had a supervisor reach out, and offered credits or additional service for the inconvenience. Instead, Spectrum is essentially holding customers hostage for extra fees caused by their error. This is egregious. Horrible customer service and fraudulent billing practices. I would not recommend Spectrum to anyone.
