My other favorite drink of theirs was the coffee flight that had a cardmom and tiramisu latte. The space is so cute and the perfect mix of charm and vibrancy on Wealthy street! Chartreuse Sisters is such a cute coffee shop in East Grand Rapids! The inside is small but had a lot of character. Theres a mixture of table and banquet seating inside as well as a large ordering counter. All of their syrups are made in house as well as their pistachio milk. They also proudly serve Mad Cap coffee. I ordered the Iced Orange Blossom Cardamom Latte which was the perfect summer latte drink. I loved the bright and fresh flavor! My friend ordered the Cafe Pistachio Rose Cappuccino which comes standard with their Pistachio Milk. It had a strong floral taste and was topped with editable flower petals but was still very delicious! The staff were extremely welcoming and nice as well. chartreuse sisters is home to unique drinks and gourmet pastries. they have regular menu drinks and drink specials as well. i've tried the salted maple matcha latte (fall special) and the sister city shaker which is a matcha with strawberry puree and cardamom orange blossom. the drinks run on the sweet side which is perfect for me because that's how i like them. on our first trip they had one vegan pastry item. it was some sort of chocolate chip oat bar which was good despite also being gluten free. unfortunately on our 2nd trip they did not have a vegan option. i'd really love to see delicious and more creative vegan pastry options because their non vegan offerings look amazing. the cafe hours are pretty limited but i love how the business is ran solely by the sisters themselves. such a lovely business to support. read more

Checked this place out on Saturday with a friend and my 4 year old daughter. I thought the service was fast and the food and drink were good. I tried the crème brûlée latte because I was excited for the experience of having my drink blow torched! While the top didn't exactly "crack" it was still fun . If I make it by again I want to try something with the pistachio milk - I've never heard of that! I love the unique options . I had a chocolate chip pumpkin scone (split it with my daughter) and it was more like the texture of a muffie (muffin top) so no complaining here! The only suggestion I'd have is maybe something a little more kid friendly; the only option that my daughter really liked as far as drinks goes was a chocolate steamer and it came in the traditional cup - maybe something less...breakable? Wow-- a must visit cafe. Very cute and quaint! Not a lot of seating available so you may need to plan on a to go order. We came around 1030am on a Sunday and there were 2 tables and the hightop window bar available. It seemed to have a decent amount of turnover. 2 tables left in the ~40 min we were there. Raspberry and Nutella slice- good size. This is one of their classics. The flavor is amazing and the crust is thick but not difficult to get through at all. I told my husband I wanted a full size pie S'mores cake slice- delicious. I often feel places put too much coffee/ espresso powder in chocolate cakes and this one tasted like there was the correct hint to compliment the chocolate crumb, but not so much that you feel you are eating a coffee flavored cake. There is a layer of chocolate (ganache?) and toasted marshmallow topping. Also would like a full cake!! Coffees- The coconut delight is a special. If you like mounds or almond joy, you are going to LOVE this. Crème brûlée latte is a classic on their menu, bruleed tableside and we were told to let it sit a few minutes for the top to harden to have small caramelized pieces while drinking. The hot chocolate was mildly sweet and watery or as the barista described it, "an adult hot chocolate." Imagine 30% sweetness of a swiss miss packet. Excellent bakery! Went here for the first time today by chance and am glad we stopped by. It's a cute little welcoming cafe for people with a serious sweet tooth. I believe the pastries are made in house. We ordered a slice of early grey cake with a pistachio rose latte and Nutella latte. Both were fantastic. Finally got to stop in here after passing by it for months! I love the aesthetic; it's small but cozy, warm and inviting, and I really appreciate the fact that they kept the original tile from when it used to be a drugstore back in the day. It fits in perfectly with the rest of the decor. I ordered the chocolate Madeleine, s'mores financier and a ginger financier. This place is incredible! After a quick yelp search for coffee, I decided to check out Chartreuse Sisters and I'm so grateful that I did. This is a small European inspired coffee and pastry shop. There are only a few tables and the space is exquisitely decorated. It's absolutely lovely and every single drink on their menu (including "potions") sounded great. They have a case of baked goods as well. I ended up ordering the Chef's Special drink which is a golden milk latte mixed with matcha. It was to die for. Spicy, perfectly balanced, and delicious. For a snack, I had the savory scone with rosemary and sundried tomatoes and it was honestly the best thing I've eaten in a long time. I felt like I was transported to Paris after walking through the doors of Chartreuse Sisters! This cute bakery and coffee shop opened recently in a historic building in the Wealthy Street corridor. They specialize in French pastries with a rotating monthly menu, mocktails, and unique coffee drinks. Currently they have limited hours and are only open Thursday through Saturday, 11am-5pm. There may be a line out the door like there was when I visited, but it's totally worth it for this unique experience. Seating is a little limited, but I was happy to take my treats to go. I got an assortment of beautiful pastries and the buckwheat matcha latte, which I'd never seen before! You can either have them leave the buckwheat in the drink, which gives it a bit of a crunch, or have them strain them out. I left it in because I was intrigued. The experience drinking it was different, but I enjoyed it. The buckwheat gave it a toasty, slightly savory flavor which I really loved. The parfait was my favorite of the sweet treats - cake, jam, and frosting layered in a cup. So delicious and decadent! I'm looking forward to visiting again soon to try more delicious treats. read more

The Caramelized Lemon Bliss Slice was an intricate combination of tart lemon with creamy mascarpone on a scrumptious foundation of an oatmeal coconut crumble crust. A delight to my day. Definitely a great treat to share due to its rich sweetness. If you want to feel like you're drinking a garden of roses with a sprinkle of fall from the cardamom spice, you will love the Pistachio Rose Latte. The iced matcha is not sweetened, but if honey or sweetener is added it makes for a refreshing greeny taste. The large front facing windows make for beautiful natural light. A cozy couch and somewhat comfortable seating at tables makes for a great meet up spot. The seating is quite limited and not best to come and work on a busy morning. The service was very pleasant. Okay...here comes a long one: I've been sober for almost six and a half years now. The reasons why are short and long but all involve me doing stupid things. One of the things I miss most about drinking is the social aspect of it. It's easy to go to a bar or a restaurant and have a drink and chat, watch the game, go with friends and what not. Coffee can offer some of that but not a lot of it due to the time frame most coffee shops are open till. I have not had that feeling anywhere, that joy of kinship or socializing around something, even with coffee, until I went to Chartreuse Sisters yesterday. First, I had the Hello Love drink which has Let's Stay Home Coffee Chocolate Habanero, a housemade simple syrup, and smoked cinnamon chips (she did it right at the table!). Second was the Coconut Bliss Slice...wow. This was immaculate. The reason this visit meant so much to me was, as I was reviewing the menu, I made a comment on one of the nonalcoholic cocktail blends they had. One of the two sisters (the one who does the drinks) began to talk to me a bit about the drinks. As I sat down, she brought the drink over to me to do the tableside smoking. After she went back, I mentioned that I was sober and I loved the idea of mocktails. She then began to introduce me via taste test, to several new things that I have not tried. These things I tried were not for sale and were not on the menu, it was just due to her being amazing and it being slower because of the snowstorm. She explained that they have ticketed events on some evenings in the future where one can rent a table for 1-3 people on an evening to come and enjoy nonalcoholic craft beverages that take great thought and practice to make. What they are doing here is beyond impressive. If you check out the website, they have some before and after photos on their journey of taking a dilapidated building and turning it into a quaint, corner masterpiece. We took a drive and visited the Chartreuse Sisters. It's located on a busy street with very little parking. Unattractive location. We were very surprised at the prices of the pastries, $8 and up for a single pastry. Seems a bit much. We did not purchase anything, but left and went to Nantucket Bakery. Their pastries are amazing and the prices are reasonable. More to choose from also. The location is lovely with beautiful flower boxes and outside seating. It's a much better and delicious choice. We felt that Chartreuse Sisters was a mistake and waste of time. read more
