I've been a Chase customer for over 20 yrs- at various points having mortgages, credit cards, personal and business checking/savings, and investment accounts. Over the years due to impersonal service, I've done more and more of my investment and personal checking account banking elsewhere, but still have always maintained other Chase accounts. I've banked at this branch for about 9 yrs for various things- children's checking, mortgage applications, etc. and occasional items related to my Chase credit card. They have always said "Since you are already a Chase customer..." whenever I have come in for business at this branch. Today, I needed a cashier's check. I was informed if I didn't have a checking account, I was no longer considered a Chase customer as of Aug 1 policy changes. I asked to open a checking as I needed the cashier's check and was told no one would help me today. Staff would not direct me to another nearby branch that was better staffed to open a checking account for an existing Chase customer. (Mind you, I only recently no longer had any Chase checking account when my son turned 18 and his account stopped being joint, but I still have other Chase accounts). For all I know, I could still be joint on some of my 4 kids' accounts, but no one even looked me up. I was the. trying to pursue self-service and open the checking through my Chase app which only takes a few minutes since I am an existing identity-verified customer, but had to deal with being harassed while trying to use self-service options, being approached and told repeatedly that no one could help me today and I would need to leave and make an appointment for tomorrow. I was not at the counter bothering employees. I was just sitting in the seated waiting area on my Chase app figuring things out. (Other nearby branches, whether it could be done online, etc.) Another walk-in was then helped by the woman that supposedly didn't have time for anyone but appointments until tomorrow. Their refusal to redirect me to a better staffed branch even when directly asked and failure to suggest I use the online tools (which I figured out on my own) was astonishing! I asked them to please stop harassing me to leave due to lack of appt availability so that I could finish opening the checking account through my app. I had an account open online within 10 minutes (only took this long because I was now flustered and logged out a few times- process was maybe 1 or 2 minutes), made a deposit to the new account with the teller, and then bought my cashier's check. Because suddenly I was a customer, even though the only reason I was able to open an account in the Chase app was because I was ALREADY a customer. But the impersonal, frankly hostile service at this branch demonstrated EXACTLY why I stopped keeping my primary personal checking account with Chase long ago. They miss out on so much private investment banking, etc. by being rude! Thankfully ETrade and Fidelity are courteous and professional places to invest my assets and a credit union (unfortunately with no branches near my current house) maintains that personal "we know you've been our customer for decades" experience. read more

The manager and his employees are rude, obnoxious and not willing to help or answer basic questions.. Only want to give you a phone number which does not work. Never seen a group of people so rude to their customers. Time to move on. Last time my wife was in the bank, the manager Michael came up behind her and was hitting her on the shoulder with papers. Every month I go in this bank to pay a bill with cash, no problem, no questions...yesterday, there are about 5 people "greeting" me at the door..like robots...they actually startled me. I went up to the one teller and she acted annoyed I didn't use the ATM to pay...she rudely informed me I could've payed without coming in. I told her, no, with the amount of money I'm paying, I don't want to do that! Until they totally outlaw cash, I will continue to pay my bill this way! What is up with a barrage of employees standing at the door with their phony greetings???!!! read more

Very nice branch with a view. Staff is friendly and they are pretty up to date with their technology. One thing that bothers me is that there's only one teller most of the time. Even though most times there's only 1 person ahead of me, most transactions takes at least 15 minutes and I'm having to wait that long each time. read more

I recently took out another commercial loan with Chase Bank and had great difficulty with their call center on some minor details. Needless to say I was very displeased and utterly frustrated. I decided it would be best to visit the Chase branch near my house to take care of the issues . While there I was lucky enough to have the branch manager Michael Beauchamp take care of the problem for me. Thanks again Michael, you were a breath of fresh air and a pleasure to work with. I love these guys. I opened my account 3 months ago, both business and personal. I used to be at bank of the west. Chase's technology is outstanding, with easier mobile banking, and ATMs that give out money in any denomination. The best part is everyone knows me in the branch, and I stop in maybe once every two weeks. I called on the phone today to get a second debit card for my business associate and the guy on the phone knew exactly who I was, checked in on a personal level, and then rushed the card to get to me in 3 days time, even though I didn't request a rush, all at no fee. Horrible service, waited 10 minutes to speak to a banker while she had a personal conversation with some random customer. Never acknowledged that i was there to get help. I ended up getting up and walking out. If you value your time then don't go to this branch. Bad service gets you bad reviews. read more

The Chase Bank at Blackhawk in Danville, CA is the BEST branch I've ever walked into!! No kidding, these guys are the best. JR and Jeff Evans are so completely professional, friendly and knowledgeable... beyond the average regarding banking and the Chase way of doing things. Best bank... best service... best of the best! I'm talking from experience too... I've done business with almost all the most popular banks... BofA, Citibank, Wells Fargo, credit unions etc... Chase Bank is the best, especially for business. There certainly has been lots of turnover in this branch. Used to be awesome but as of right now the service is just horrible. There's only one banker in there who is confident, Jeff. The other ones I can't even tell you the lack of respect that I received while trying to deposit a large check. I brought in a coupon for $200 to open a savings account with a $15,000 minimum balance for three months. They made it such a hassle that I'm not opening a savings account there anymore and I'm taking all my accounts to Wells Fargo. There's a gal there who does not understand customer service whatsoever. Even told me that my funds from a check that they had already verified they had received funds on could be declined. I even went over to the other bank that issued the check and they verify that Chase did receive the funds six days prior. Chase was just holding onto the funds and this bank teller would rather lie to me then tell me the truth. She's a real piece of work. I would stay away from this branch at all cost! read more

I am a chase account holder. Wanted to open a cosign account for my little brother who is 15. I called them, they told me to go to branch. I normally do business with Chase Union Square and only positive things. Arriving to this branch i stood in the lobby for 5 minutes before someone asked what i am here for. Sitting down to open account she told me that my CA drivers license wasnt enough... ok... apparently i needed my green card too. So i explained to her i drove 1 hr to be here on a weekday because my brother was on spring break to help him cosign the account. Why is my drivers license not enough. Dont you see my green card in the system? Yes. She does. But she needed it again... i explained when i called chase they didnt say i needed that, but maybe we can still proceed , and i will be back to SF later and bring it in to Union Square branch, as i will stop by home to pick up and go to work around there later. No. She proceed to give me suggestion as i can drive back on a different day and bring my green card. Or my brother can go to city himself do we can do it at the other chase. He is 15, he doesnt drive. The thing was dont make those absurd suggestion. So i took my business to Bank of America, got him account. Just with my CA license. And he was even added as authorized user, chase had restriction being 18. I was really disappointed by her manner, coldness, and stupid suggestions and rudeness. The staff at this branch has recently changed. I'm not impressed. The teller today reminded me that all cash deposits will now be scrutinized. That means all deposits, large or small, may require you to show I.D. That part in itself is another way for the bank to track your every move. Don't they realize that some people live week to week on a cash basis. Were not all billionaires in Blackhawk. This asinine policy has me reevaluating my need for Chase. read more
