After contemplating for a good while, i finally decided to try banking with Chase. I was told by a friend that Chase bank was terrible because they dont care but i like to judge based off of my own experience. Im not good with banking online so i went in person to get more help opening an account and to explore available options, only to be told to go back online. Now i understand how my friend felt about Chase. Went to this bank today to open a new account and deposit a check.. Person helping me asked if i had an appointment, i said no and asked if they did walk ins. He said that they did take walk-ins but they were booked for the day (it was 1 hour before closing and the place was half empty) and that i wouldnt be able to deposit the check anyway because my account would be too new and that i can just open an account online. Ive been to other banks before and they usually ask alot of questions to try to be helpful and were welcoming. At Chase it felt like i was wasting their time and they were trying to get rid of me. Honestly, it felt like a "We have more than enough people at the moment, we dont need you" type of experience. I think ill just try another bank. read more

I set up an appointment for my husband to have some documents notarized. The person who was going to do the notarization was busy with another customer and did not even acknowledge his presence. After banking with Wells Fargo for 7+ years, I decided to switch banks. My boyfriend suggest I open an account with Chase but I was skeptical. Switching my ACH payments, direct deposit, customer relations etc. But I thought about all the screw ups WF put me through and decided to bite the bullet. Asked friends if they banked with them and what they thought and they all had good things to say! So I decided to come in at 1:30 on a Saturday to open an account. I brought in 2 forms of ID (figuring I'd need 2, and I did) There was a bit of a wait which I didn't mind. That's banking!!! After all I would want my banker to take their time with my transaction. Any who.. I waited in the lobby and was approached by Ricky (I think that's his name?) and he informed me with when I'd be next and what kind of account he'd recommend and coupons I could find online, which I really appreciate. Marisol called me over to her desk and proceeded to open my account. She was very friendly and professional. She made banking a pleasant experience, especially for it having been my first time there, it definitely left a good impression. She asked if I need counter checks, temp checks, a temp card and so on. She even helped me with online banking. After my account was open she walked me over to the indoor ATM to deposit my money. Being someone who works in banking, I would say my experience was over all a good one. From customer service, to knowing all the fees. Reading previous reviews was kind of funny because literally everything (aside from poor customer service, which I haven't experienced yet) is funny because everything people complain about is literally bank policy lol. Really bad service this place in particular only one cashier workers only walk around

Went there today at 11:00 pm. One teller working and a line of 8 people. 3 people hovering in the back ground but totally ignored the line. Finally one lady from behind the counter came to help. The young man( Orlando) after helping another customer just stood behind the counter for 5 minutes. He kept on talking to the young girl next to him and I could hear him say "Gosh" and putting his head down on the counter. The young girl came out and I asked her if the young man is going to help as we all were waiting for over 20 mins and she rudely said " He is finishing something", which was a complete lie as he was doing nothing behind the counter. I guess the manager was not there as I only saw 1 banker helping a customer, so everyone was slacking off. Learn from Wells Fargo, they immediately open another window if they even see 2 people waiting. Mr. Manager, you can check the recording starting at 10:45 pm if you don't believe me. This Chase branch is pretty prominently placed. The drive-thru layout can be a little confusing at times so be careful of people swinging through the parking lot. Speaking of which, the spots are narrow so if you have a nice ride, park farther out. The staff inside are pretty courteous and do the job. I just opened an account and don't regret it. read more

I was assisted by both a teller (Samada (sp?) and a bank (Logan), both of whom were extraordinarily helpful, polite and professional. I was so impressed! One of their drive thru ATM took my card and would not spit it out. I went inside to get help. The response was that I have to wait a while to get my card. Went and signed in @ 2:40pm with 2 persons signed in ahead of me. 20 minutes pass and still same two persons ahead of me and the 2 agents are still taking care of the same customers as when I walked in. This branch is a POS! Plain and simple. You would assume that Chase Corporate would read the reviews and do something about it. However, the bottom line to them is not happy customers. Their main objective is to fatten their pockets. Fine! I am ok with that..But C'mon....really??? Came in to do something really simple. Cash an $825.00 check. The systems were down at my bank, Wells Fargo. Which let me tell you--The Wells Fargo in El Cerrito is THE BEST BANK EVER. They truly know what customer service is, and respecting their customers. Anyways, back to cashing this check. This check was written from a local business, who is also my employer. They know the business owner, and they know me because I handle a lot of the banking for my boss. First thing out of the tellers mouth is, ARE YOU AWARE OF THE $6 dollar fee? No greeting, No how are you, nothing. Yes I am aware, no problem. She asks for my ID and 2nd form of ID. I hand her my driver license and credit card. She literally inspects my ID for 5-7 min. Looking at it, putting under the UV light, scanning it through her swiper on the computer system. She then takes my ID, CC and check and goes to a different window where Shirley, the HORRIBLE BRANCH manager is working. They continue to inspect my ID and CC like I am some sort of criminal. Mind you that I have been coming into this branch since 2010!!!! Shirley comes over, and starts looking at the account where the check is going to be cashed from. This is in total about 15 minutes standing there in the window from start to finish. She looks at me and says, we have new rules, I need to call back office for any check cashing's for Non-Chase Customers. I said, Shirley, You know me, and you know the business owner, Go ahead and call him. He will verify for you! She told me NO that she must call back office. She said it would be about a 25 minute wait. Another gentleman next to me interrupted and said, Sir, Don't listen to her I'm in here to cash a $600 check and I have been waiting over 45 minutes! WTFFFFFF is going on here? I understand trying to protect your bank, but Jesus Christ C'MON! its an Effing $825 check! 45 Minute wait? 6 Dollar Fee?? If you hold peoples business accounts, what do business's do??? They write checks to people! You have an obligation to cash the EFFING CHECKS!!! Where else should people go???? All in all this branch is a total POS branch, and the people working there are horrible too, just plain HORRIBLE! God forbid you get this older latin or creole lady. She is a total bitch! It's a business account my name isn't even on there why do they need to see id?! I'm a business customer of Chase. Clearly they have drastically reduced the number of tellers to one in most branches; the busy branches have two. So sad that after stealing ALL that money in 2008 they're broke and can't afford customer service. Instead they're bringing in fancy new ATMs that don't work very well. This way they don't have to pay anyone to do their work because customers will do it for free to get out in under a half hour. The newest branch doesn't have tellers at all! When you walk in you have to figure out who the tellers may be as they're scurrying around the branch. Mostly it's just a bunch of machines and you're expected to figure it out and do their work for them. No doubt you pay a monthly service fee for doing their work. I make it a habit of letting them know how I feel about the lines every time I have to deal with long lines. That's now about 95% of the time. I'm told by Chase that this is the direction that all banks are heading. You'd better make your voice heard now! read more
