This is by far the most professional and compassionate vet we have experienced in the area. We moved to the area five years ago with two dogs and a cat. I tried other vets closer to us before I finally tried Holmes. I am so glad I did. Our two dogs are quirky and very anxious. We have had multiple visits at Holmes now, and every time the staff are incredibly nice, accommodating, and professional. The doctors are not condescending. They understand how to explain treatments and procedures in a professional and easily accessible manner. Honestly, they ease my anxiety about taking my pets to the vet, along with easing the anxiety of my pets. Prices are definitely competitive, too. Grateful I brought my fur kids here. I am very disappointed with my experience. Last Saturday, I brought in two deceased birds for a necropsy to determine the cause of death. I was told the veterinarian would examine them and provide answers as soon as possible. It has now been over a week, and I have received no updates, no results, and no communication from the doctor. During this time, I have called three separate times asking for information. Each time, I was told that someone would speak with the veterinarian and get back to me, but no one ever returned my calls. This situation is especially frustrating because I have other birds that are currently sick, and the results from these birds could be critical in helping me determine the next steps for their care. Waiting over a week without any communication is unacceptable. I understand that veterinary practices can be busy, but basic communication and follow-up should be expected. Unfortunately, my experience has left me feeling ignored and disappointed. Because of this experience, I do not plan to bring my birds here again. Last year, we took one of our chickens to HFVC for crop stasis. They were caring and compassionate. Unfortunately, we ended up having to euthanize our chicken and they were just wonderful about it. W never forgot how great they were so, this year when we became increasingly dissatisfied with the vet that was caring for our 14-year old Shitzu Maltese, we decided to bring her to HFVC instead, and boy are we glad we did! Excellent, personable, kind, knowledgeable vets and vet techs, and the receptionist is warm and friendly too! We should have switched long ago! read more

We're new reptile/bird owners, but we were thrust into the fast lane when our beloved bearded dragon was diagnosed with a life-threatening infection. We're the lunatics who opted for surgery when antibiotics didn't work. Dr. Warner was *amazing* and treated our girl like gold, coaching us through a winter of hand-feeding and recovery. Now she's great! We had another emergency when our bird pulled out a blood feather and almost died - she told us to come right in and they were waiting for us at the door. It's touching that they give their all for the scaly and feathered just as they do for our furry mammal friends. Wish I could give them six stars. read more

I called and wanted to do her shot and blood test earlier instead of later found out my cats were well overdue I was not notified of this. I have been going here since they opened, Yes I was mad and may of says Dam It. today in mail got my dogs records sent no records of cats but says records of all your pets. My Cats mean as much to me as my dog I guess Dr. Holmes doesn't think enough of Siamese Cats my Mr. Shredder Laverne and Shirley all Pedigree Siamese mean the world to me .I learned to read in 1st grade and all papers sent except letter she signed are about my dog. So if you want a Vet who sends reminders about her pod cast and her FB video's this is the place to go not if you want your animals kept up to date. read more

I can't say enough about this Veterinary Clinic. We just got a new puppy and they have been fantastic with her. I called them today because our puppy had some discharge after urinating. The doctor called me right back and eased my mind saying that we can just keep an eye on her because she has plenty of energy and is eating and drinking fine. They didn't insist we come in, which we greatly appreciated from a financial standpoint. It is so refreshing to know that they are not all about making money. They truly care and we fully trust them. They charged me $51.75 for a nail trim for my bunny. She was in the building for less than 2 minutes and only got her nails trimmed. At first I thought this was a normal price, shocked at how expensive it was, until I called a couple of local vets who see rabbits. Their prices ranged from $10-20. I was not prepared to spend so much money yesterday, we are conscious of our spending these days, but needed to make sure our bunny was taken care of. I do not recommend Holmes for maintenance of your pets- they overcharge! read more

Dr. Fiske and all the staff is beyond amazing. They helped my senior bun recover from surgery and went above and beyond to provide services to her. Pricing and cost is well within the average range for area. When my buns time came, they provided options for her cremation and helped me create prints to remember. I have been a client of Dr. Holmes since 2013. I needed an avian vet for my parrot after moving to the state. My parrot gets great care here. I especially like how gently she towels my bird for a dremel tool nail clipping, which, by the way had always been done previously using nail clippers. Even as an experienced bird owner who reads up on things, I had never heard of a bird needing a beak trim and I appreciated being talked through why it was necessary. I've been coached through how to give medicine to a bird and given practical solutions for avoiding future airborne illnesses. Avian behavior issues have been addressed in the office and via email. I love that the clinic is in a strip mall where every store front is about love and care of animals. There is: The Village Groomer and Pet Supply, Chickadee Seed & Feed and The Bird & Reptile Connection. I love my visits. I first took my parrot to Dr. Holmes about 20 years ago when she was practicing at another clinic. I was very happy to later bring him to Holmes Family Veterinary. Some years back Dr. Holmes actually saved my bird's life by promptly diagnosing and treating him for lead poisoning. He had had a similar episode just weeks earlier and we took him into Angell Memorial but they never figured out what was wrong with him. Everyone on staff at Holmes is kind and professional. I feel immensely lucky to have such a great vet close to my home whom I can rely on to give top-notch care to my bird. read more

I called this office to confirm that they carried a specific brand of a vaccination. I was told yes but they only had one left. I said great let's make an appointment. I asked what would happen if another animal needed this vaccination before our appointment. She said not to worry that they would keep it aside specifically for us and that a new batch was going to be ordered for anyone else who may need it. I get a voicemail the day before the appointment stating that they could no longer find the vaccination. They had looked everywhere but could not find it. I call the next morning to find out when to expect the new delivery and am told that an order was never placed (after being told the week before that it had) and that they were NOT going to reorder this specific vaccination and that I had to find another veterinary. To say this office is INCOMPETENT is an understatement. One needs to wonder if vaccinations are being misplaced what other aspects of care are being taken for granted. read more
