On Sunday night we decided to make reservations to celebrate our 50th Wedding anniversary. We went at 5 for an early dinner knowing we would order some veal. The dining is traditional and we loved it. The style is European inside and you feel transported to a foreign time and place. Soaring ceilings with old world timbers and large baronial fireplaces are a perfect setting for the feast to come. We are ice water people when we dine out so I can't comment on their drinks but they have a top reputation for offering a wine cellar that is famously stocked full of rare bottles. And available for a special event. We started with a homemade tomato soup and it was everything. Expect local and the most flavorful vegetables here. Real cream on top. Then we ate the most wonderful Wiener Schnitzel ( the veal was pure white) again with perfectly steamed local cauliflower, carrots and peas. The brown sauce was well made and perfectly smooth and complex with a delicious stock underpinning the finished product. For desert we had a very traditional Swiss chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream sundae. It was simply wonderful. Such a good choice for a special meal. Service I should mention was impeccable and attentive. We noticed several large family tables but the dining room is laid out so there seem to be no bad tables as had been mentioned on another review. It's a white tablecloth dining experience and a reservation is needed. Parking in front. The sedate calm of the restaurant is a setting for conversation and appreciation of the unusually divine cuisine available here. read more

Chateau Hathorn is definitely a venue space and a wonderful one. It's very pretty with great indoor and outdoor dining options. The service was really great. Had wonderful conversations with the staff there as well. The food here is very light on seasoning. I think this works for some and not for others and it just wasn't for me as I'm heavy on the spice. We were there twice this holiday season. The food is always excellent and they have pros serving you (Valerie). We've been coming to The Chateau for special occasions for over 35 years and have never been anything other than highly satisfied. They never rush you, nor should they, as you will drop some $$$ here. Totally worth it. Family owned and operated by Dolph, Helene & Sondra Ziegler. The chateaubriand and rack of lamb are our favorites (Dolph). Great cocktails by Sondra! Chateau Hathorn was an amazing dinner experience. A beautiful space, Maitre de Chris explained the menu and specials so well. We ordered the frog legs, orange shrimp for starters and then the flounder, the duck, the nesi goreng and dessert was the ice cream with the Toblerone pouring chocolate. I recently attended a friend's wedding at the Chateau Hawthorn. I was helping with her flowers and her cake. It was one of my favorite weddings ever. The wedding was in the gazebo on the back of the property. The staff brought chairs down and it was so beautiful. Then we had the reception upstairs in the Chateau. We had the bridal suite to get ready. It was a lovTely space and the food was amazing. The best thing about the experience was the staff. They met every need graciously. They helped me with things far outside the normal parameters of their duties. It was the best day ever. The historic ambiance made it very special. read more

In one word - Fantastic. An elegant restaurant with exciting tastes and presentations. The ambience was warm and inviting. I went with my husband and two boys. The staff was so friendly very attentive and informative with any questions we had. My kids had a kid's portion filet mignon with fries that they loved it. I had the Puff Pastry "Neptune" that was out of this world. Everything was fresh and exquisite. My husband had Escargot with Garlic Butter and I had to steal some from him because they were delicios. Main meal he had the Wiener Schnitzel with a sauce on the side that was incredible I had one of the specials with several fish and the combination of flavors and consistencies of each dish was amazing. But wait there is more ...Then came the desserts with some help from our waiter we narrow it down to : Vanilla Ice Cream with Toblerone Chocolate Sauce was superb and Cinnamon Apple Fritters with Vanilla Sauce that are made fresh I highly recommend Chateau if you're looking for exquisite food! an amazing date spot. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and got dinner both nights, and from the moment we walked in til the moment we left we were treated with so much care and specificity. Every detail was thought through, most importantly by the server / staff Chris. The chef is a master of his craft! The dishes come out like artwork...almost too pretty to eat! We came to enjoy the 3 course meal with a bottle of wine. The Chloe wine from Monterey, CA was excellent. The appetizer was a phyllo nest filled with seafood. If I had a salad, that would have been my meal. Spectacular presentation and equally delicious. My fish dish of black bass was perfectly cooked. The meal was so filling that I had to take the dessert and mashed potatoes home. The food was so fresh and plentiful. I just got done visiting Chateau Hathorn with my wife for our 22nd wedding anniversary and I could not be happier with the restaurant I picked. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by a staff member that checked for our name on the reservation list and then escorted us to our table. As you can see by the pictures I posted, every aspect of our meal was delicious! The menu is diverse with something for everyone I think and the special menu was unique and full of delicious choices also. On top of the excellent food, the service we received was impeccable. Sally was our server and she knew the menu inside and out and had such a great personality and demeanor that we felt like we were at home. The support staff of Alex and Natalie were very attentive, professional and congenial. Chateau Hathorn is lucky to have these three employees! They knew when to approach the table and when not to. Sandra was wonderful : she gave impeccable menu descriptions And recommendations. The wines we had were really tasty. And They were also distinctly different. Mine Had a floral overtone, and my boyfriends glass distinctly smelled of blackberries. When the bread arrived to our table, It was served with a small dish of fresh fruit salad, which I thought was a nice touch. The rolls were also a Great combination of fluffy/chewy. The salad I had (avocado) It was one of the most interesting salads I've had. It was like a filleted avocado, with desiccated seasonal vegetables on the side. It was also served with a hard-boiled egg section, and a homemade basil dressing that was stellar. Homemade cocktail sauce was a bit like relish/jelly, and I didn't care for it . We had the Châteaubriand , and requested that it be prepared blu rare, with a pepper crust (Sandra's recommendation.) the crust was stellar, and although the meat wasn't cooked to temperature , the issue was fixed immediately . The food, ambiance, and room were great. Beautiful place to dine. Owner was very nice and hospitable. We had the chateau briand served my a great chef - it was perfect. The fire in the dining rooms adds a great touch. However, prepare yourself for a two to three hour dinner. If you are in a hurry, this is not the place for you. Two detractors were, first, the servers seemed really curt, frustrated and unhappy - with what I don't know but it detracted from the experience. Second, in the morning it is advertised as having a continental breakfast - this was not so - be prepared for no coffee, no breakfast. This is unfortunate as a nice cup of coffee and simple breakfast would have allowed us to enjoy the place and room awhile longer instead of heading out to get coffee! read more

My wife and I went there on Valentines Day . After being served our soup for my wife and salad for me , we were served our appetizers. After about 30 minutes of finishing our appetizers they brought out our pre ordered deserts. We informed the food runner that we weren't served out main course yet . He took the deserts back . After about a fifteen minute wait our main course was served . At no time did our server come back to our table to ask how our meal was or take an order for additional cocktails. At some point a manager came over and said "it looks like you guys were abandoned in this corner" . I said " we were ". The staff is beyond friendly and I hated to take a star away but I feel that you should definitely get what you order especially when celebrating a special day. It wasn't a big deal I did get the red snapper but they gave me mashed potato instead of the spaetzl. They gave my son my spaetzl with his order Wiener schnitzel. We told them the mistake and they said they would make a plate for the table but didn't. The scallops and shrimp appetizer was salty. The filet mignon was perfect, the fuck was beautifully done. If they were able to hold back a little on the salt and get the order correct they would be 5 stars. Excellent review for the staff. All in all I had a great time I would go back ask for less salt and just order slower possibly. read more

I loved the shrimp cocktail (I think I've eaten 10 pieces by myself.) and their 4 course dinner was excellent as well. Loved their steak and berry dessert! Perfect balance of flavors and texture. Price: Paid for not by me. So I do not know. Service: Excellent service - seems like this place gets a lot of regulars. Parking & Finding the Place: I wasn't paying attention but its in farmville compared New York City haha. It is 20 mins from Mountain Creek though... We dined here five years ago with good friends and enjoyed it very much. That's why when we came back last night with the same couple. Unfortunately, we were dismayed by the extremely slow service and mediocre food. The menu options seemed very limited and dated. We waited a long time to place our order and then waited about 45 minutes more for our food to be served. After finishing our meal, we sat for another 45 minutes with dirty dishes in front of us. When a staff person finally showed up to collect the dishes, the person brought a very small tray to carry the dishes so she had to return multiple times and we had to help her stack the dishes and silverware so she could get everything on this tiny tray. After that, we waited another 30-40 minutes--we never saw our waitress since the initial delivery of our meal. No one asked how our meal was or offered us a dessert menu. Since we had been there for several hours already and spent most of our time waiting around, my husband finally got up and went to the double doors where the kitchen is to request our check. Our observation of the wait staff that evening was that they were inexperienced and disorganized. There was no maitre d/head waiter present to keep things moving efficiently. The only person working hard was the girl with the water pitcher. The food overall was mediocre and served lukewarm. The halibut was missing from my dish and the sauce had congealed from sitting out too long before serving. Our guest's steak was cooled, over-peppered and inedible--that was a $44 dish that couldn't be consumed. Since our waitress never came back to check on us, we were unable to express our concerns. Our other guest liked his duck and my husband liked his veal chop but it was not served hot. Our assessment is that this restaurant is in need of new or better management. Inexperienced staff are left to their own devices and patrons have to pay a high price for lukewarm food and very substandard service. Based on this experience, we are not returning. There are many other excellent restaurants in Warwick that are not so expensive and have great service. Lastly, the exterior grounds are very well maintained and beautiful. read more

Phenomenal! This place is beautiful inside and the food is outstanding. The service is great and very attentive. We never had to look for our waitress because she was constantly refilling our wine and clearing plates. This has become our new favorite restaurant. We had the Lobster bisque- thick and almost puréed. Not too creamy and had a nice hint of spicy. Delicious! Crab cake- very thick and filling. So. Much. Crab. Meat. This would have been enough for an appetizer on its own! Oysters- absolutely delicious. Fresh and tasty. Definitely a favorite. We split the Chateau Briand for dinner which was absolutely amazing. The server rolled over a table and seared it right in front of us. It was cooked to perfection. Juicy and tender I could eat it all day. It comes with a couple of vegetable sides. The mashed potatoes had sautéed chopped onions on top. Spaetzle are served on the side. This dish has more than enough food and we still couldn't stop eating. Absolutely amazing. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. The people who own this restaurant no longer care about their customers. We have gone here before many times and have had good meals. We made a reservation for my nephew's birthday several days ago. We got there on time and were seated immediately and that was the end of decent service. We waited for drinks for over 20 minutes and we were hoping to have drinks before our food. We had to ask twice for our drinks and when my Bloody Mary finally arrived the ice had melted and the drink was watery. Our first course came out at the same time and that was the last time we saw a waitress or had anyone ask if we needed anything. An hour and 15 minutes went by with no food and empty glasses. We watched food come out of the kitchen and none of it was ours. We finally decided to push the staff and said we were tired of waiting and wanted to leave and they said OK. No apology, no attempt to stop us from leaving by saying the food will be out shortly, no explanation just OK. We have family that own restaurants and they would have at least apologized and offered a free round of drinks. NOPE. Just here is your bill bye. My nephew's birthday was ruined and not even an apology. This is not the fault of the waitress. She was vey nice and very embarrassed. The owners don''t care about their customers. We will never return to this restaurant and there are plenty of good restaurants in Warwick. Go someplace else read more

I surprised my boyfriend with a weekend getaway to Chateau Hathorn at the end of May. This Bed and breakfast was perfect for a relaxing couples weekend, exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in room # 5 and were pleased with our accommodations. As a self-professed germaphobe; I was very happy with the attention to cleanliness the staff puts forth at this B&B. The interior of the building boasts beautiful dark wood touches in nearly every room and a romantic, classic vibe. The building is nestled on the grounds of a nature sanctuary and the views and wildlife sightings are so peaceful and serene. They serve a very nice breakfast each morning downstairs with cheeses, fruits and croissants, plus coffee and juice. The staff was very attentive but not pushy in any way. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would return again. read more
