Ok, now that I've visited 5 boba-slingers in the Baltimore city/county region I feel like I can pass a verdict. ChaTime was indisputably my favourite of the cohort.... and I often find myself beset with ChaTime cravings. It's about 20 minutes from my house, so just far enough that a drive there solely for boba could (almost) be considered unreasonable. So why the heart-eyes for ChaTime? Huge menu, bountiful boba, and high-quality flavours. And the "large" drinks truly are large! My favourite of the lot was their chocolate hazenut milk tea, and I've yet to find a competitor in the area. It's much sweeter than your average oolong milk tea, but several shades less sweet than soda or a milkshake. Just the perfect spot. And every time I've been they've never run out of boba or grass jelly. I know, I know - some will say this is a low bar but I've surprisingly had numerous instances where I've gone to Baltimore-area boba shops only to find that they have run out of pearls for the day! One of my favorite thing about ChaTime is flexibility in choosing the sugar and ice levels. They have a wide variety of drinks and toppings, but you can never go wrong with the classic pearl milk tea. I find their drinks on the sweeter side, so I generally get less sugar (30% or 50%). Conveniently located near the AMC theater and Brown Rice in White Marsh. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area. read more

I love love loveeeee this place!!!! I get the honeydew jasmine milk tea with extra pudding and sometimes rainbow jelly's and more than likely I try and grab two large drinks (one for now and one for later.) Everyone there is very nice and very informative about their many varieties of bombbbb ass drinks! Prices are good and so is the quality. I get this at least once every two weeks when I'm in that area. I really wish they open a location in the Pikesville or Owings mills area. I am so glad they are branching out to federal hill. It's a bit busy in that area and hard to find parking so I will stick to the white marsh location. read more

Whether fruity or milk-based, Chatime constantly delivers outstanding tea and service. The employees and especially the owner, are always friendly and efficient. How to order: Pick a flavor of tea from their menu, pick between size Regular or Large, then add toppings (my go-tos are pearls for milk teas or coconut jelly for fruit teas), and customize your sugar/ice ratios. I'm always down for some bubble tea, and there have been a few new spots here in Baltimore serving it up! Chatime started in Canada I believe and now they have stores all over the world. This particular one in White Marsh, MD has only been open for a few months. The decor has a bubblgum pop essence to it , and the staff is pretty friendly. I got their Matcha Latte and it was pretty good. However, I didn't know until later that you can tell them no ice. I wish I did that because the ice really diluted the flavor of the tea. The tapioca balls were very fresh and flavorful, but they have a large selection of toppings you can put in your drink such as aloe vera, coffee jelly, and more! Just a heads up at this particular location they have a $5 minimum to use your credit card, so bring cash if you don't want a large size. I definitely will go back to try some of there either flavors. read more

Been twice and avged a 4. The first time I went was great. The boba was squishy and the right amount of chewy. Hard to find boba like that around here. The second time, the boba was firm and had a crunch towards the middle like how boba is after it's been refrigerated. It was towards closing time so it's understandable that there wasn't a fresh batch. The tea is brewed unlike some other places around the Baltimore area. Cha time will still be my go-to for boba close to Baltimore. I do prefer another place 50 mins away but Cha time def hits the spot. Yesterday, my son and I stopped by after a browse in Barnes and Noble. I was craving a slightly sweet drink with a BURST of flavor and decided to drop by for some bubble tea. I was having a difficult time deciding which flavor to choose for my tea and asked about one that isn't too sweet. The person at the cash register mentioned that I could ask for any flavor to not be too sweet. She then recommended the Hawaiian flavored tea, so I ordered that and added strawberry BURST and coconut jelly. My son ordered a mango slushee. The drinks were made in a short time! After tasting mine, I immediately tasted how sweet it was. The drink was actually way too sweet, which isn't what I wanted. Also, the coconut jelly had an interesting taste and aftertaste, which I've never tasted at any other place that sells bubble tea. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to return to ask for them to fix the issue, so I can't speak to the customer service when handling corrections. I also think I'll try other places when I have a taste for bubble tea. read more

It's nice to have a new boba place. The location lets you indicate the amount of sugar, the amount of ice, and they have tons of add ins such as boba. There are a few tables available if you want to sit inside. Only negative is that it's a bit pricey, even for boba. read more

Yum!!! This is not the simple boboa tea you might get at the mall, this is more like the Starbucks of boba tea. Drinks come in two sizes- regular 16oz and large 24oz. There are tonnnns of flavors and choices- tea, fruit tea, tea with milk, oriental pop tea, mousse, smoothie/slush, juice, and Chatime QQ (comes with two toppings). You can choose for your drink to be hot, warm, no/less/normal/extra ice, and no/slight/half/less/normal/sugar. For $.50, you can add tapioca pearls, grass jelly, pudding, coconut jelly, red beans, rainbow jelly, or coffee jelly. So far, I have tried four different drinks and toppings, and loved them all!! My only suggestion would be to add descriptive information to some of the less familiar drinks, as I am hesitant to order things when I don't know what they are. FINALLY there's a bubble tea place in town. Now I won't have to drive all the way to Kung Fu Tea whenever I want some decent bubble tea! My favorites are the Pearl Milk Tea, Roasted Milk Tea, and Mango Green Tea. I usually get pearls in all of my drinks with less ice so that my drink doesn't get watered down too quickly. I will say that I did NOT like the Winter Melon Milk Tea, as it tasted very artificially sweet in my opinion, and my boyfriend did not like it either. It does not taste like the Winter Melon Milk Tea from KFT, which I love. The staff is always friendly and helpful in case you have any questions if you're new to bubble tea, so don't be afraid to ask for any recommendations from them. So thankful for decent boba in the Baltimore area! My boyfriend and I are not a fan of Kung Fu Tea (their dairy replacement adds a strange flavor to the milk tea and also upsets our stomachs), so we were excited for Cha Time. They may be good, but I wouldn't know. I had a simple request: "I would like a pineapple, strawberry, and banana smoothie." The cashier said, "we can't mix them." I then asked if the smoothies are made fresh and I was told they are made from fruit purée. She then rattled off several combinations of smoothies they offered, some with chocolate, and none of which I wanted. So, although they have pineapple purée, strawberry purée, and banana purée, simply mixing them together and satisfying the customer's request was a mountain too high. I left thirsty. UPDATE: Thank you very much for the explanation on the restrictions associated with the franchise and I fully understand. Perhaps you might suggest to the franchisor a "Create Your Own" option on the menu, if fruit purée combinations taste the same as fresh fruit combinations. Chatime customer service is bad in general. We were regular customers of Chatime White Marsh until today. My son accidentally ordered online at Chatime Federal Hill location instead of the White Marsh location. The White Marsh location manager told me to call the Federal Hill location to see if they can give me a refund. I was on the phone with someone at the Federal Hill location, was told to wait, and was placed on hold until the lady who answered the phone speaks to her manager. When the lady was done talking to her manager, she told me that the Federal Hill location and the manager at the White Marsh will try to come up with an agreement for me. I told the White Marsh location what I was told. She grabbed her phone and texted someone (I assumed the manager at the other location.) After a few seconds, she told me that she can't make me the drinks that I ordered online without me paying again because Federal Hill location already made them. Point taken that our drinks worth $18 were ordered at the wrong location. But, if you are in Perry Hall, will you go to Federal Hill just to grab the drinks that you mistakenly ordered at that location? People make mistakes, honest mistakes. I wish that the manager at the White Marsh location could have been more considerate. Hope Chatime higher ups get to do something about this. read more

This is my favorite place right now. My neighbor took me here for my first time a year ago and now we are both "regulars" - We come multiple times a week. I crave the jasmine milk tea with pearls every day. It's always our first stop when we have our weekly Avenue relaxation time. I like that we can sample other things since I'm unfamiliar with all of the toppings. The staff has always be wonderful. Saturday's they are JAM PACKED. The waffles are really good.
