Buyer Beware....
I needed a formal gown for an upcoming event, and visited Chatta Box. I told the sales person (Desiree) exactly what I was looking for. The gown had to be black, white, or black and white only. I tried on several gowns before Desiree recommended a white Sherri Hill. I purchased it on Saturday, May 25th. Several individuals that I showed the gown to asked me if it was a "wedding gown." My reply was no, it was a formal. I was buying shoes, showed the salesperson the dress, she asked me the same question. "Is this a wedding gown?" After the last question, I looked up the SKU for the gown on Sherri Hill's website. The dress is not a wedding, but a prom gown.
I looked up the difference between a prom gown, and formal gown , and there is a distinction between the two.
I called today May 30th, explained my concerns, and asked if I could receive a refund, and was told "no; I could only exchange the gown." The gown selection was limited, and no other selections were possible. I asked if an exception could be made since no choices were available. Desiree's response was "the owner does not refund any money ever." I asked if I could receive a store credit, and was told "no, any exchanges would have to be completed today." The owner/manager didn't even feel it was important enough to speak with me. How is that for customer service?
In the past I have purchased a few items from this store, and have never attempted to return anything. I was given bad advice by the Chatta Box employee, but the company did not treat me as a valued customer. When I explained my concerns about purchasing a "Prom Gown", they didn't care. There attitude was you bought it, you keep it. It didn't matter that I have to purchase another gown, an the gown was purchase because of Desiree's recommendation. Customers really don't matter to this company.
They put on a good show in order to get the sale, but did not care when I needed to rectify a problem after the sale. NOT A VERY GOOD COMPANY TO PATRONIZE. This is my last purchase ever with this store. I know I am only one customer, but if there cannot be service after the sale, the company DOES NOT deserve my business.
I told two other store managers of my experience, and said the way I was treated was unsatisfactory.
Customers should be as important after the puchase as they are before the sale. If Chatta Box had mission statement, it would read: Customers are only important before the purchase is finalized.
They only deserve 1/2 star because they put on a good show when selling me the Prom Gown. read more
