Interesting choice, my team of 5 decided on Chatters as the place we'll have lunch. I was intrigued because of the menu. We started out with two appetizers, Fried Ravioli & Popcorn Shrimp Basket. To be honest the Fried Ravioli wasn't worth ordering. Pretty much flavorless! The menu read stuffed with cheese & jalapenos. I don't think either existed in the ravioli. Had great potential but just didn't deliver. The Popcorn Shrimp was a step up and we're actually pretty good. The dipping sauce was rather strange - it seemed to be a spicy teriyaki which was okay just not a dipping sauce I expected. Maybe a choice of sauces would be a better option. Four of the 5 choose burgers and I think everyone truly enjoyed their choice. I chose the KC Special - pastrami burnt ends, w/two 1/4 lb burgers with cheese and a side of Freedom Fries. Two others chose the Heavenly Bacon and the last picked the Mushroom Burger. I think it's fair to say everyone enjoyed their burger. The lone dissenter felt the need to be on the healthier side and he went with the salmon. He described it as dry and over cooked. Luckily he choose the French Onion soup as a starter and he said it was one of the best soups he's had! Another one in the group also ordered the same and he said it was delicious. I'm mad at myself for not ordering because that is one of my favorites and can't believe I actually passed on it! Our server was GG and she was very pleasant and she was good at checking in on us to make sure we were doing okay. We enjoyed her waiting on us for our lunch meal. If we ever make our way to Pittsburg again I think I would definitely try this place again and look at trying other items on the menu! read more

The food has really gone down hill in the last couple years. I ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger which had zero seasoning, not even salt, maybe 2 slices of mushroom, and the pickles weren't even on the burger. They were just tossed at it and they missed. My wife ordered a French dip with no onions and sweet potato fries. Waitress brought it out and said the meat comes with onions so they couldn't be taken off. Would have been nice to know that before she got it so she could order something else. And her sweet potato fries had been sitting out long enough they were cold and soggy. The owner is rude as heck to the help in front of customers. It used to be a good place to eat, but no more. We're done with them. read more

Had dinner this evening. We got there at 445. Our food arrived at about 530. It was terrible. Food had been sitting awhile and it was just gross. Soggy, cold etc. One in our party got catfish. It still had the skin on it and when you touched the breading, oil came pouring out. Honestly it was all just gross. Based on these things we likely won't return. Food was amazing! Service was awful. The waitress didn't properly introduce herself and was very rude the entire time. My husband and I came here for a date night. The waitress would not acknowledge my husband at all he had to tell her two different times what he wanted to drink. The place was pretty empty. Anytime he would say anything she would look at me and wait for my response. My husband and I look like we have a larger age gap than what there is. We are both over 21 and only a three year age gap. My husband looks older than I do. The entire staff were staring at my table and whispering under their breath. I had walked by them to use the restroom and I overheard the waitress tell another staff member that she was scared for me because I looked young. Would go there quite a bit when we lived there. A bit expensive - but staff and owner are all super friendly and personable. Desserts are great. Food ranges from basic bar food to Pho. We made reservations 24 hours in advance for 16 people. They only had enough chairs for 13 for us at 12:45 after Church. We arrived on time and discovered they only had a brunch menu "at 12:45" which seemed strange. The menu was hard to read due to the print, font and lighting. Our waitress was not friendly, we all had a lot of separate tickets and she seemed very annoyed about that. It took her 38 minutes to take all our orders. While taking our orders she mentioned that they still also had a boneless wing special. Most of the teenagers at the table were happy about due to the strange brunch menu. 8 teenagers in our group. After ordering food it took 1.5 hours to get all our food. The wing special was frozen chicken nuggets with sauce on them. Biscuits and gravy for some was the driest biscuit ever eaten. When we were brought to checks it took the waitress for ever to bring any cards and change back. The cash change was not even accurately counted. Not impressed and we will not be back. We were at the establishment for 3 hours. That is a very wasted Sunday lunch. read more

Great place for dinner and drinks with friends. We were in town over the holidays and stopped in here. They were busy in the bar and still our server Josh rocked out! My husband & I showed up to have a nice dinner after going to a wedding. We arrived around 6 pm & was told the wait would be 25 minutes. Forty minutes later, I went to ask where we were on the list. We stopped in on travels. We were greeted promptly. It was definitely between meal times but service was still attentive and good. We had a toddler with us and they were good about getting her a coloring book and crayons to try to keep her occupied. My husband had the heavenly bacon burger. He said it was pretty good. I had the Mediterranean pizza without tomatoes. It was so good. Perfectly cooked thin crust. The flavors of pesto and basil with the added chicken were amazing. We got a side of Mac and cheese for our kid and it was a little spicy because they use their queso for it. It was really good though. My husband ended up eating it. Excellent service, Julie was Incredible and attentive to our table and ensured we had everything we needed. At the end of our service she asked if we liked everything and I mentioned I wasn't a fan of a certain menu item. She arranged for a discount since I was the first to ever not enjoy that particular burger. I waited a long time to post this because I was really hoping to see a change. We go to Chatter's a lot. Several times a month. And it's odd because the experience is a complete mixed bag. The food is tremendous. We've never gotten a bad meal. My wife and daughter love it as much as I do. But we've come to understand the tradeoff for great food is marginal and at times dreadful service. The young people Ahmad has hired seem largely indifferent and opposed to the idea of being friendly and providing anything more than the bare minimum in terms of customer service. There have been so many times when a server has come to our table to leave an item and try to leave in such a hurry I have to call out to them to get them to stop and help us with a request. They barely speak, don't want to answer questions and seem most times to be too busy (even when the restaurant isn't) to put in much effort at all. I've always been a generous tipper but you have to work for it and these folks really don't. I can't speak for every customer but we've seen consistently worse and worse service over the past few months. Maybe when you go everything will be fine but for us, it has grown so frustrating I'm not sure the food is worth it. read more

Don't order steak here. I was craving steak and ordered Ribeye - my favorite. I ordered it Medium, like always. My husband ordered the steak bites with mushrooms & onions, medium as well. When we FINALLY received our food, my poor Ribeye was well done. Not an ounce of pink in it. Not an ounce of seasoning on it. I had to add a fair amount of salt to make it palatable. The only thing that saved it was that it was a Ribeye. I was starving and ate half. The waitress did give me a 25% discount bc of the cook on it. My husband's was suuuuuper tough and also we'll done. We went here last night for dinner. We were greeted and seated promptly. The menu has a large variety. I started with a California roll--I wasn't disappointed! After, I had a wedge salad--it was delicious with plenty of blue cheese crumbles, fresh cherry tomatoes and crispy bacon crumbles! My friend enjoyed the steak tips with mushrooms and onions, with wild rice and a large side salad. The portions were good sized, and food temperatures were appropriate. Nearly inedible. I don't know if it was just an off day for them, but everything I got was unbelievably salty, and I usually like salty things. The chicken nachos and the burger I got literally tasted like they were purely made of salt. It began to make a salt brine in my mouth and I reached a point I couldn't eat anymore. All in all, one of the best restaurants in Pittsburg, KS! I have been going to Chatters for years and I can safely say that I have never had a bad meal. I always find myself saying, "That was Delicious!" Since they have reopened, they have really changed up their menu which worried me, however, they have added many new options like Sushi which is perfect for a place like Pittsburg where that usually isn't an option! My favorite item is the Jurassic Park Roll. Wonderful tasting and well presented. They also have amazing pizza and salads. Overall, it's a win/win situation! read more

I really liked Chatters. The atmosphere is like a bar and grill but they have a more extensive menu. All the food ordered was very good. We had sweet potato waffle fries, fries, fire in the house burgers--beef, pulled pork, with fried onions, jalapeños , velveeta cheese and BBQ sauce. We shared a Jurassic park sushi roll for our appetizer and I actually ordered the brussell sprouts roasted in balsamic vinegar and portobello mushroom fries as my main dish. Both were delicious! We ended our meal with a slice of cheesecake--they said it was Cheesecake Factory brand and cherry pie. We noticed they also had a selection of cream pies. This review is actually a 4.5 star review. For Chatters to get a 5, they need to automatically warm their fruit pie when someone orders it (service was good and this was quickly done upon request), have a variety of cheeses for their burgers and carry vanilla ice cream for pies a large mode. I placed an order for pickup over the phone. When I got there I told the only person in the front that, and I'm told to go inside the kitchen to pick it up. I thought I couldn't hear the person correctly so I kept asking what? They proceed to walk me over into the kitchen and point at the food sitting on a shelf. No bag no utensils. I stand in there confused. The person just walks away. Everyone working in there didn't even bat an eye I was inside. How could they not realize a stranger is inside the kitchen? After a minute of me being confused and looking everywhere for a register of some sort (I wasn't sure if I would pay there or what), some guy walks up, bags the food, and finally directed me to the bar to pay for the food. To top it all off I ordered a chicken salad and there's no chicken. I didn't even want to bother going back. The A/C was out. No one told us after we waited for a table for 30 min. We ordered chips and salsa. Chips are from a bag from grocery store. We waited 15 min to place our order. We waited almost one hour to get our food. They brought one child's food out 20 min before the rest of our meal. There was a large table who ordered before us but this shouldn't have made our meal so long. When we finally got our food-we weren't impressed. Pizza was heavy and greasy. Burger had no flavor. (Not 'Hi,Welcome to Chatters') wasn't a great start but after that it was a smooth evening with a booth in the bar area. Two people had the spicy Italian pizza-1 gf and 1 regular. Loads of meat and tasty. One had the beef tips and I had the Power salad with added grilled chicken. It was a perfect meal after having a not so healthy Chinese lunch elsewhere. They somehow made Pittsburg water taste good and had a decent selection of draft beer. The bar had a dozen or so tvs if you are looking to watch 'the game' but it was still easy to hear conversation. Everything here is ok. The positives- the menu has a ton of variety and nothing is awful. Atmosphere is ok. The downsides- There is so much variety that they didn't stop to make one thing super amazing to come back for. If you want wings, go to bdubs or hackets instead. If you want pasta, anywhere else has it. Burgers..... better everywhere else. Steak.... just meh Their sushi was already kinda blah and boring, and now that there is a real Japanese place with AMAZING SUSHI, this place is kinda pointless. Too much food in the town now. Not impressed. My gyro meat was charred and the pita bread was burnt. The wife's wedge salad was almost just that -- a wedge of lettuce. There was minimal bacon, feta cheese, etc., and no toast/croutons. Ordered a draft and got a bottle... Won't be coming back.
