We change an electric furnace for a a new one and the problem started The installation was noisy , the furnace would heat , barely fresh air coming out. Service call was placed and sure enough we got the rude unprofessional treatment . We end up with a huge whole in the dock air vent 16pox16po right at my face height , very sharp left open there for anybody to get cut. The technician give us his recommendation for the furnace to work properly...Leave the furnace room door open and do not use your fireplace in the adjacent room !!!?? What a PRO Will I ever be able to close the door of my furnace room ? Do not do business with those people They are terrible . read more

Was Ok with this company until 2020 when they replaced our furnace but recently our gas furnace got flooded (Aug 2024) and needed to be replaced and they would not even schedule for someone to come over and give me an estimate as they are too busy doing service contract work. They did not return calls. Funny because modern furnaces are made of stainless steel and so they don't need really need annual or bi-annual servicing other than changing the filter twice a year read more

I have been a customer for several years since they installed a furnace (8-9 years ago). I was generally satisfied although their annual maintenance costs kept increasing rather disproportionately given the amount of time they were here (typically 20 minutes ish) , no parts, and only scheduled because the technician "was in the area" so little travel time. Today changed everything and I am done with them. I received a call from Janice ( very nice lady) this morning asking if a technician could come later in the morning. I told her the afternoon would be ok after 2 but not the morning. She said she would call back but I did not hear from her. At 2:00, I get a call from the service manager ( didn't get his name) who tells me the technician would be arriving in a few minutes as we had scheduled the day before between 2-5. No one had contacted me yesterday and no appointment had been scheduled. When I told him Janice had not called me back and we did not have an appointment and it was not convenient anymore, he responded ok but my next appointment would only be in January and if the furnace stopped working before then we'd have a long wait and then in a bizarre high pitched voice abruptly said "Bye bye" and hung up. I called back to speak to Janice but he answered. I told him I did not want to speak to him and he announced in that same strange voice "It's a corporate decision. Bye Bye" and hung up again. Turns out he is a co-owner. If that is his attitude towards customers, who needs them? I think I have been the only one in my circle who ever had positive things to say about them. That's over. Appalling company. Bought a heat pump from them about 18 months ago. The salesman promptly retired and left us in the lurch. Since then it has started making noises, and when we called about servicing we were told we had not taken a service contract out when we bought it, so essentially "you snooze you lose". The owner of the company basically hung up on us on a call, and when we tried to call back and speak to someone else, all we got were excuses about covid. Absolutely appaling after sales, arrogant rude staff and faulty products. Do not give these people any of your money. Disgusting. read more

A technician from Pierrefonds Chauffage appeared at our door today, as requested earlier due to multiple failures of our Lennox furnace purchased from them. A call informing us of his arrival time was not received previously. My husband answered the door normally, without a mask, not knowing it was the technician. The technician immediately became verbally aggressive, and was extremely hard to understand. My husband told him to wait one moment, went down the stairs to get a mask, realized his mask was upstairs and turned back up the stairs. At this point the technician had stepped into the entryway of our house. As my husband tried to pass to go up the stairs and get his mask, the technician pushed him in the stairway and disrespected him verbally. He then left. I called Pierrefonds Chauffage thereafter and was answered by a man who followed suit by accusing us of refusing to follow Covid guidelines and mistreating the technician. As I attempted to explain the situation, I was spoken over and anything I said disregarded. I am appalled by this service. In essence, the technician appeared at our door without confirmation on timeframe, entered the house and assaulted my husband. I wholeheartedly agree that companies need to protect their employees, particularly in these Covid times but customers can not be mistreated to this extent, particularly related to a service as essential as heating in Quebec. read more

Avoid this company at all costs. Here's my story. They installed an all electric Lennox HVAC system (which is working fine), to an existing dual energy (oil and electricity) and the existing ducting system. When the system was not working well, they promptly sent a technician who informed me "the new system requires more cold air than before. The new furnace fan connected to the existing ductwork is working too hard to pull cold air in. The solution to this problem requires changes to the existing ductwork." and "if the problem was not remedied, damage to the furnace would result.". The new system was also noisier (banging on shutoff and sounding like a jet engine in the bedroom) - an artifact of the electric A/C which pushes more air. When I informed them of this report (from their employee's inspection) their response was "When we signed the contract, you never mentioned that there was any problem with the existing ductwork system. Had you said there was a problem, we would have analysed the system functionality and provided you with our recommended modifications and pricing." Of course there never was any problem with the existing ductwork. The problem arose as a result of installing the new system. A company that cared something for the ongoing relationship with their customers would have said "Our salesperson, should have informed you that the new electrical HVAC system would not work well with your existing ductwork and suggested modifications and pricing. Had he done so, the extra cost to make this change at the time of installation would have been $XXX. Since he did not, we will fix the problem at a cost of (free, $XX or some other reasonable number). But Pierrefonds is not such a company. After numerous attempts to get them to fix the problem or at least contribute to the solution, they finally recommended an outside contractor. Total extra cost to remediate was $1500 of which Pierrefonds paid $0. Do not give your business to Pierrefonds Chauffage. read more

PLEASE AVOID! CROOKED. Terrible company that took advantage of my parents at their home in the West Island. They insisted the furnace required an inspection, when they arrived, they upsold the need to switch out a capacitor inside the furnace. Later that day, due to the new capacitor, the circuit board overheated and was damaged beyond repair. They came back, and refused to accept any responsibility for their poor installation of the the capacitor. They replaced the circuit board and charged my parents full price for a $600 circuit board. They refused to take any blame and scared my parents into paying the full bill. Since then, they've refused to acknowledge any wrong doing and are avoiding all communication. On the scale from 1 to 10, these guys are a 12 on the sleezy scale. Better off using another company. read more

I recently switched from oil heat to an electrical furnace and new air conditioner. I had shopped around and decided on Pierrefonds Chauffage. I was impressed with their professionalism and helpful advice. The installation crew was excellent. I agree with so many of the reviews here. Good at time of sale but after the sale, forget it. We purchased a new furnace and heat pump from this company six years ago. Took the service contract every year until last year. The technician who came can be rude but we did get service. We did not renew last year as my husband had a heart attack and then recently another surgery. We had other priorities and unfortunately a few things got left aside. Now we have an issue with the heat pump and Pierrefonds Chauffage says we need to wait a couple of months for service since we didn't renew our contract at the right time. We have no AC while my husband is recovering from surgery during a heatwave and the staff at Pierrefonds Chauffage is nothing but rude. Our electrician even tried to call them as he felt the treatment we received was not right and he was told we "didn't want to renew with them" so tough luck wait two to three months. Horrible service department to deal with. read more

My parents are elderly and this company has been taking advantage of them for 5 years. When their AC was first installed 5 years ago it immediately broke down for a month during the summer. My parents were expected to pay them hundreds of dollars to have it repaired. Every year since they have had to make costly repairs to it. One year they came to do "scheduled yearly maintenance" which is insane. When they came, the a/c wasn't working yet again, so they could not do the maintenance. That didn't stop these crooks from charging my parents for they maintenence that they didn't do! My parents finally just stopped using the a/c because it cost too much and they could not afford to pay for repairs anymore. My mother was treated disrespectfully when she went to speak to the owner of the company. He essentially threw my 70 year old mother out. read more

We have been a customer for a long time. Purchased a new furnace a few years ago and before that a maintenance customer on our old furnace. Salesman was great, however the service technicians and service manager are not professional. Out of many technicians I would say one was decent. Our air conditioner has just died in this heat wave and we had a very rude and messy technician come to our house (he was condescending and folded back a piece of a metal panel on the furnace and bent it back in place leaving the screws and duct tape detached) he left saying there was nothing he could do and that someone would get back to us. Day later, spoke with service manager to express my frustration and anger with the service call and he too was just as rude, refusing to speak with my partner and told me that he would only get the service report tomorrow due to covid (because they can't touch the paper?) and said that he would only then call me back when he's ready, have a nice day and hung up on me. Business must be good to treat people like that, covid or not. This is one client you won't have anymore. read more

Lennox furnace blower motor broke down on December 24, 2012 so we called in Pierrefonds Heating. They charged $564 to replace the blower motor (parts & labor) and had our furnace up & running again... for 40 hours. 2 days later the furnace tripped the electrical breaker, and upon resetting the breaker the brand new furnace blower motor did not start up. Naturally, I called Pierrefonds Heating and seeing as it was an emergency they sent over a technician on December 26 at 11:30pm. This technician was very rude and took a look at the furnace and told me the "fan control relay" on the main control board is burnt. I asked him to explain how that would happen and that I was very suspicious that the new blower motor was likely the root cause of a fan relay that had been working fine for over a dozen years. He said there was no coincidence (really?) and could not explain to me logically why. I am an Engineer with many years of experience working with electronics and far more complex micro controllers than a basic 15 year old furnace control board. This technician could not convince me with any evidence that the fan relay did not in fact burn out as a result of the new fan motor that was installed less than 40 hours prior. He also did not test the motor or verify the motor leads to see if all the electrical circuits were closed and that nothing was open or shorted in the motor itself. Pierrefonds Heating now refuses to take responsibility for the control board and wants to charge $595 for the control board plus labor. I also tested the motor's leads and have determined that there is an open connection, something the technician should have done but did not do. The open connection on the motor was likely the root cause of the fan relay malfunctioning as it did. Relays are simple electric devices and don't explode or short circuit unless as a result of an external electrical failure. In this case, the external electrical failure was either the open connection in the motor or the installation itself. Something Pierrefonds Heating absolutely refuses to admit to. read more
