I have been meaning to write this review for a long time but didn't know quite what to say. On the one hand, Bobbie does a good job with hair, especially curly hair. I found her on my friend's recommendation and saw her for around 6 years regularly. On the other hand, she gaslit me for 6 years about my hair. Every time I saw her, she'd tell me how long my hair was getting and how I had new growth at my hairline (my goal is very long hair). But this was just not true. It finally took a photo from six years ago popping up in my Facebook feed to make me realize how very much hair length I had lost... several inches, and I'm only in my mid-30s. I immediately started researching about early hair loss, and was able to find some great products, a new brush, and tips on hair length management to prevent breaking. My hair is better now. If Bobbie had just told me the truth (your hair is not growing well and getting shorter due to breakage) and not lied to me for six years, I could have fixed my hair problem much earlier. This was really frustrating. She also has a policy to never ever come in for an appointment if you're sick, due to an immuno problem she has. I was conscientious about this and called her one day when I was extremely ill to say I couldn't make my next appointment, as she had requested that clients don't visit if sick. She then never rebooked me. I don't know why: we seemed to get along fine and I always tipped 20%. We exchanged a few texts about my next possible haircut date and then I never heard from her again. I texted another time to see what happened, and no response. She just dropped me. It really bugged me as a long term client, as I never knew what I did wrong, other than cancelled since I was sick. Well, I've since found another hairdresser who is cheaper, better, and tells the truth about my hair. He's amazing! I texted Bobbie one last time to say that I was sorry for whatever I had done and to thank her for her years of service. No reply. She still sees my friend and cuts her hair, so I have no idea what happened. But on the whole, it's left such a negative taste in my mouth and has bugged me emotionally, so I hope writing this review will give me some closure. Again, she is good with hair, but costs the earth and won't tell you straight about things. You can find someone better in the South Bay. read more

Bobbie has been my stylist for I don't know how long. I've known her way back to her Command Performance days. She's an absolute gem and she's amazing. She's also the owner, an awesome person and business woman. My wife goes to her for all her treatments and my son has been getting his hair cut from her ever since he was little. She's always striving to be better and her shop has gone through some makeovers of their own, but the one constant is Bobbie herself. She's a perfectionist and very detail oriented, which I adore. She's active in her community and is a fellow foodie. It doesn't get better than this and her salon has been voted #1 in Milpitas numerous times. She's simply, the best. read more

iv been going to Mai Vu the manicurist at chava pelo salon for 6 years now, and all i can say is SHE IS AMAAAAZING. She is very professional, keeps her station clean and cleans her tools after every use. I used to go to those salons that you would pay like 15-20 for a full set and they would never last on my fingers.. never.. then a friend of mine told me about Mai so i went with her to check it out. Thought she did a great job so i book my first appointment, and iv been coming back religiously ever since. She has a very big selection of colors, 90% from opi, and she has some colors from oryly, and the nicole opi brand. She doesnt use those cheep colors you see in most "cheap" looking nail salons. and the color stay is amazing, im always doing stuff with my hands and i would have to do something pretty rough to mess them up or chip. Mai is also really nice and considerate and does alot for her clients, i always recommend her to people because she is the best manicurist iv ever been too. Marisa 'easy going demeanor and friendly personality plus the fact that she is fantastic with color and is a very articulate and precise stylist guarantees her return clients. I have been going to Bobbie's salon for the past 14 years. My entire family and network of friends are long time costumers of the the salon also. we get non-stop compliments on our hair cuts, styles and color! I have never heard a single negative comment from anyone regarding any of the stylists at the salon. When my sister move away from home to go to college she used to make frequent trips back home to get her hair done with Bobbie, because there was no way she was going to have anyone else touch her hair. Chava Pelo is the best of the best! Nothing around here compares to them. They are all involved with the community and many charitable causes. I wouldn't go anywhere else!! I for my wife's birthday I purchased a massage and facial for her at Chava' Pelo. I found the place to look clean and well up kept. After my wife actually got the gift she raved about the service she received from Gina. She has had massages from others and she was never very satisfied. As far as makeup goes Gina did my wife's makeup for our wedding and if was beautiful. She definitely did not look like a rock-a-billy clown. read more

My daughter really needed a trim and decided to try out this salon which is conveniently several doors away from the school where she attends. I walked in, but was not greeted by any of the stylists. Only there after their conversational piece was done, then one stylist who was sitting in a chair asked, " what can I help you with?" By this time I was not happy. I told her that my daughter needed a trim so she went to the back to ask if anyone can do a trim for a little girl. So the stylist came back and said no one is available cut her hair. She said one stylist is leaving and I'm waiting for my appointment. "No one is available." Nonetheless, they said nothing else that would want me as a customer to come back ever. They didn't say well maybe after my appointment you can come back and I'll cut her hair. Its not like it would have taken more than 10 minutes to have her hair trimmed. Anita is the best !! Been going to her for a few years and she never messes up ever. She knew alot about my hair and has taken time to help me with my hair problem (Thining) She takes time to figure out what is good for my hair. Awsome!! Also Gina is awsome . I had a hard time with my makeup on the color foundation and how and what to use everyday. She helped me sooooo much then going to a Mac department. Wow, Sherley, dont know where you actually went to get that facial but I have been to this salon and Gina has done facials and massages for me many times. Maybe that smell you smelled was your own BO. As far as Gina being frumpy, HA HA. not a chance. Gina dresses with professionalism and class. I love the way she does her makeup. What can I say.. If I didnt find Gina my wedding would have been ruined! She gave me a facial which was really needed. He place was extremely clean, infact the garbage can didnt have anything in it, I felt bad putting my chewed gum in it, Infact.. at the end of my facial as we walked out together she took the bag that only had my chewed gum and a cleanex out!... Gina saved my wedding day.. 2 months before the date I went to her for an eye brow wax.. she explaned to me, that i needed to grow a certain portion in to look a little better.. And i did.. They looked great the day of the wedding.. I talked to her about doing my make up for the big day.. She was going out of town. She then instead met with me at her home and showed me how to do my own make up.. She even let me borrow some make up of hers. I let another person try to do my make up.. I have been a Massage Therapist for 8 years. I rarely try new therapists, especially ones that I didn't go to school with. I was referred to Gina by a friend that had received a gift certificate and enjoyed the massage and facial she got. I was hesitant at first, because of the location. There aren't many salons that I know of in Milpitas. However, as soon as I walked in I was comfortable. I was worried that the massage room was actually IN the salon. I was pleasantly surprised when one of the girls doing hair said "Actually, Gina is right up those stairs." Upstairs there was a cute little lobby and 2 treatment rooms. Gina was very professional. She was wearing a lab coat. In my 8 years of doing body work, I have never worn a lab coat. I admired her professionalism. Her work was really good. I was immediately relaxed. She new exactly where my pain was without me saying anything. That's honestly the sign of a good body worker in my professional opinion. I now return to her at least once every couple months. I have been going to Bobbie, owner/ color expert/ stylist/ for over 10 years now. Not only is the salon an amazing place to come to ( a sanctuary of sorts, clean, fresh modern feel and a relaxing atmosphere) but the styling products are amazing and affordable too. Best of all I get an amazing cut, color, style every time. She makes appropriate recommendations based on the trends but is never pushy or persuasive. I am always getting compliments on my hair and strangers ask where I get it done. I have recommended Chava Pelo Salon to many people (friends and strangers alike).
