I watched Chava's being built in the old Rally's location adjacent to BP at the junction of IN 59 and SR 42 just off the I-70 exit. I was intrigued as I'm a big Mexican food fan, and I've heard good things about the Terre Haute location. We called ahead and picked up our order to eat at home. Everything was prepared as we'd ordered, fresh and flavorful! I'd asked for guacamole on my salad and received a HUGE scoop...no extra charge like some places. Family had carnitas tacos and another salad. They also pronounced it very good. We all agreed Chava's was worthy and we would patronize them again soon! Ok so I didn't wait long! The next week I went inside to get a naked veggie taco salad to go. The first thing I noticed was that the employee was wiping the prep counter. The place was very clean! He was also singing when I entered, which made me smile. As he made my salad he was extremely generous with the toppings...for the price it was absolutely worth it! I also ordered a side of chips and salsa. He filled an entire to go container with chips and the salsa was a large (? 1/2 cup size). The chips were crispy and fresh, salsa was as peppery and spicy, as I like it. Overall very pleased with Chava's based on 2 experiences. read more

Today I took the family to this new restaurant Mexican that opened 11/13/2020. We all love Mexican food so we were all excited to try it. It is located in the old Rally's Restaurant building. They had really cleaned it up the old building and decorated it in a Mexican theme. It looked very nice. As for the food, It was good I had a Burrito and a Taco and they both were very tasty. (See Pictures) The prices were about average. The service was good, friendly and also very fast because most of the food is already prepared and ready to make to order. It reminded us of a Subway style. The restaurant was very clean. One thing I would note is that there seating is limited as you can see in my Pictures. My feel for this restaurant is more of a drive thru type restaurant than a dine in. But I think they will be a success and we will be back. My husband is a long haul driver and I travel with him. This place was conveniently located across from a Petro (parking is typically a challenge). It is attached to a BP gas station and didn't look promising at first. All I can say now, is don't judge a book by it's cover! We are both from San Antonio Texas and are accustomed to exceptional Mexican cuisine. He and I are always craving authentic Mexican food. To raise the expectations even higher My husband is Hispanic, This place didn't disappoint! We were both pleased. The portions were generous, the food was flavorful and we both left satisfied. They were cooking the food right in front of us and everything was super fresh. We agreed that the food was better than most dine in restaurants we have been too. It's advertised as a 24 hour restaurant too which makes it even better. We will definitely be back! read more

I was pleasantly surprised. The fajitas were made in some kind of sauce that was absolutely fantastic. I had the steak fajitas. This place does not look like much but I was extremely satisfied and it was some of the best fajitas of ever had. Next time I go back I will try to find out the fajita sauce recipe lol. Not much room to sit inside and I do not think they serve beer or alcohol. I drive a truck and appreciate finding places like this. read more

A friend recommended this place, and I was not disappointed. I thought it was a bit pricey, but for what I ended up getting (large burrito) I think I got a good deal. The food was great, served up Subway-style, as you pick what to put in what dish. It's really not much to look at, but it's easy access and comfortable, and the staff is friendly. Amazing food. I had a pastor tortas that was phenomenal. Wifey had a pork super burrito that she'll be still be eating for lunch until Tuesday. Pico is bomb and everything tastes fresh.
