Visited for the first time today and booked a deluxe gel pedi ($90) + gel mani ($55). I really wanted to love this place, but don't think I can justify it for the price. PROS: - very friendly staff - free candy and drinks (mimosas, coffee, etc) - parisian themed interior is cute - good selection of polish colors - pedicure felt relaxing, deluxe gel pedicure comes with paraffin wax, scrub, callus removal, lotion, foot soak (you can choose from 5 scents), and more - nail techs were efficient; the gel mani and pedi took place at the same time so I was out of there in less than 1.5 hours CONS: - steep price - the lady doing my gel manicure kept getting gel polish on the skin near my nails, and curing without cleaning it up, which can cause allergic reactions. I pointed it out and she fixed it, but it kept happening so it may be a skill issue. also, missed a few spots on the side of my nails - pedicure massage didn't feel much like a massage (barely any pressure applied), and callus removal didn't do much for my calluses OVERALL: great ambiance and very sweet staff, but the price is too steep to justify the results (especially repeatedly getting gel on my skin and curing it that way. Definitely depends on the nail tech, since I had no issue with that for my pedicure!) UPDATE: my gel manicure chipped after only one day... will be going back in to get it fixed, but definitely disappointing read more

Been coming here for the last 2 years after the previous salon I went to stopped offering acrylic nails. I'm allergic to all gel products so I really appreciate them still offering regular nail polish and acrylic services. The salon is clean, great music, super friendly and customer service oriented. I have not had any allergic reactions since coming here and I appreciate the complimentary champagne/mimosas, it's one of the perks that keeps me coming back. I highly recommend Danielle & Tracie for acrylic nails & pedis, they go above and beyond during each service. They always ask if my nails are up to par and if I need any changes. They both go out of the way to make sure I leave happy with my nails. read more

Updating my review as I've since been to Chayil Maison many more times and each has continued to be a breath of fresh air. There is something about here that makes it my comfort spot. I just feel so...at ease for my entire appointment: in a comfortable setting, not judged at all, knowing always I'm in good hands with a staff is genuinely kind. The ladies who work here are FAB- shout out to Danielle, Emily, and most recently Tracie who did my latest mani/pedi. She did SUCH a good job that I had to come on here to write this specific update. Usually when you opt for a deluxe pedicure elsewhere, you get a half-ass job from other places including weak callus removal, massage, etc. 2 weeks after my pedicure this time, I marveled at how smooth my feet including heels still here. Not only that but it was one of the most pleasant nail salon experiences I've had, especially given this time I had just suffered a nasty nail break from traveling. Tracie was gentle, comforting with her words/advice, etc. I can't wait to go back. Wow it's taken me too long to write a review! I'm a super fan of Emily's and have been to see her I think 4 or 5 times now. She's a perfectionist with the cuticles, and I appreciate that so much because mine get dry and visible after a while. I don't do anything too hip. I'm just not capable of pulling it off. But she did a modern French tip gel manicure with red on the tip and a nude base and amazing! I got complimented quite a bit. I made sure to refer them to Emily since she's the rhyme and reason behind the sweet nails. Yesterday I went pink and she did this amazing hibiscus design. So. Cute! read more

I got a gel x with Tracie and the service was immaculate. I didn't know nail shapes or that my nail bed being curved would affect the service I chose but everyone there was so helpful and helped me leave with a lovely set of nails. Location is in the middle of DTLA - parking is tricky. The place is Parisian themed and it's very busy - my eyes didn't know where to look. It gave me anxiety vs. feeling relaxed. The staff are not Asian - it's a diverse mix of white, Latina, black. The staff were in T-shirts and messy hair - no professional aesthetic. I went in for a gel mani/ pedi and was there for 2 hours+. I got a light color on my toes and I had to tell the girl to do another coat, it looked very spotty. I left there without my toes feeling clean. Sure enough I got home and took so much gunk out of my toes. Separately, I wanted a design on my nails, the tech seen a photo and said she could do it, then couldn't. I left with clear polish and no design or color. The cherry on top was the price. I usually pay around $100 in LA for a gel mani/ pedi. I went with my bf and he got a regular mani/pedi (no color) and we were charged $250 - when he asked for a receipt, they said they didn't have receipt paper. read more

I went in for a mani & a pedi and the service was fantastic! I really loved the mask, scrub, moisturizer process to prep my feet for a pedicure, it was very relaxing. This past Thursday, I visited this salon. I've never been to a better nail salon than this one. The atmosphere was great from the moment I stepped in. The person that attended me was from New York; I was unable to get her name, but she was incredible. She was really helpful in assisting me with nail art selection. She treated my nails with such kindness and gentleness the entire time. My nails turned out precisely like I had envisioned. The nail salon is high quality, nice setting and pretty good prices for the location. Danielle is a doll and I have had top-notch services from her and other women working there. I usually get Gel X and I love the look. The issue I ran into was with a technician named Perla. I was going to avoid writing this publicly because I really want to support black-owned businesses, but I was not satisfied with the resolution of this situation and feel that others should beware. TLDR: I had a terrible experience with Perla for the second time and her attitude, demeanor and rudeness were not okay. It's ashame too because her actual work is high quality, but who wants to sit through an hour or so long appointment with someone who not only has a bad attitude that she is directing toward you, but is also rushing and trying to make herself feel better with offhanded comments toward you? I explained the full story to those who needed to know at the shop, but I don't feel it is worth all of that here other than to say Perla...sweetie, you and I are not that far apart in complexion. I know it kills you think a black woman could be close to your complexion, but you don't need to try and tear me down to make yourself feel better. You are not better than the black women who visit the shop. Your attitude is not okay and despite my initial upset about this situation, I really do hope that you find peace so you can stop projecting whatever you're going through onto others. read more

I don't know what all these complaints about pricing is about. If you get what you pay for, maybe you do pay a a bit more but you get more as well. They color matched my Tiffany clutch and scarf and it wasn't extra. Danielle was very attentive and took the time to do a great job. Even my pedicure by Perla was better than the ones I used to get at "cheaper" nail salons. Furthermore, the salon is so clean you could probably make microchips inside it. I can't wait to come back! I really really wanted to love this place, and I would give it five stars if it wasn't for the color issue and crazy price. The decor and ambiance is beautiful it's spacious and it smells awesome in there. Black owned is awesome too. I can't remember who I sat down with but she did an amazing job shaping my nails and the appliance of the paint was gorgeous. My only issue I had was that the color I chose to begin with was not the color I came out with. I noticed it wasn't the same type of color after she applied it to the first nail on my pinky, but I asked if it would get more of a green hue as we layer it on and she assured me that it would. I've had this similar color before but with a purple base instead of a blue one and it also needed layering so I trusted that it would be the same thing. However, after the third layer she finished with a clear coat and it just didn't look like the color i wanted. It's still a quality application and color I would just never have chosen this had I known it was blue not green. Even the nail tech agreed with me after the finished product was done and she said sometimes the display sets can be deceiving which isn't great cause now it's done and I wasn't gonna ask her to redo the entire thing. I also got a pedicure, it was super thorough and she gave me some advise to take care of my nail because I'd broken it. It turned out gorgeous. I think I got the regular pedicure, nothing too extreme. I also got some partial gel removal before starting. Anyways, the price overall for a gel mani pedi was $145 before tip... I understand quality products and attentive care but this just felt a little excessive for what I got. I did look through here for prices and the most I saw for a pedicure was $60, idk maybe the prices need to be updated or posted I just didn't expect 145. read more

Local spot in the neighborhood, so I was very excited to make this my new go-to spot. Five stars alone for being located next door to me, as well as the complimentary glass of champagne. However, the overall service performed, was lackluster. The nail technicians were nice and friendly, but the cost was a bit on the higher side in comparison to other nail shops in the area. They charge $8 to remove gel nail polish for hands, and $8 for toes vs $3 for each at other salons (perhaps the up charge made up for the cost of champagne?) After the experience, I noticed that my gel manicure started peeling after the third day. The gel pedicure application was a little better, but the technician did cut one of my nails too short. After noticing, I did mention to her, and she said - it's okay, it will grow back / no one will notice. I can't believe this is even allowed? After paying $100 + for a gel mani, pedi and poor results, I will not be returning. Yelpers: Do research neighboring salons. Value and service wise = overpriced and not the best quality, outcome. Well, after leaving the salon I noticed that the braids were indeed horribly done and they looked nothing like the pictures provided and attached are pictures of my scalp being in pain. Had the best time and high quality services this afternoon from Tameka and Emily! Tameka waxed my eyebrows and shaped them in a way that fit my face. Emily was able to freestyle my GelX nail design exactly as requested with the references I showed and shape I wanted. She overbuffed them, took off multiple layers of my actual nail, and now my nails are completely scratched, super sensitive, and breaking.
