I got my nails done here as a birthday treat since I don't get my nails done very often, so I was really looking forward to the experience. I arrived about 10 minutes early for my appointment, but my service didn't begin until about 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment. I understand that delays can happen, but there was very little communication about the wait. My nail tech was quiet, which I didn't mind at all. However, when I asked questions throughout my appointment, she either didn't respond or didn't acknowledge them, which made the experience feel uncomfortable. I originally wanted acrylic nails, but I was persuaded to get Gel-X instead because I was told they would last longer. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. I wasn't planning on leaving a review, but after only one week, several of my nails are already lifting. For a $120 service, I expected much better quality and durability. At this point, they feel comparable to press-on nails. Overall, I'm disappointed because I spent a lot of money expecting a long-lasting, professional set, especially for a special occasion. I called ahead to ask how much a gel acrylic fill would cost and was quoted $60. When I checked out, I was told my total was $80.I was then informed there was an additional charge because my nails were 'long' and another fee for cuticle work. None of these extra charges were mentioned when I called beforehand. What was frustrating is that my nails are only long because they had grown out from my previous set, so i wasn't expecting an additional length fee. I also had my cuticle nicked during the service, which was uncomfortable and is still sore. The staff eventually reduced the total to $75 after I explained that I came in expecting to pay the price I was quoted, but the lack of pricing transparency was disappointing. I believe customers should be informed of all additional charges before the service begins. The nails look okay overall, but some of the shapes and lengths appear uneven. No discount- just a frail apology. Pedicure lady was texting in between doing my toes despite me paying for the "Luxury Pedicure" so low class...Woke up today with bubbles filled with puss beside my nails- assuming this is due to lack of tool sanitation because this has never happened to me after a nail appointment. I will no longer be giving my business to this filthy establishment. It's under new ownership, which is probably why its went downhill. I continued coming here for the convenience, but I can no longer subject myself & my skin to this dirty place. There are so many health code violations, which I've already called & reported them. They have roaches crawling all over the place, on the gel x nail kits, on the ladies nail carts, even the message chairs there was baby roaches on the pillows I had to ask to sit somewhere else. I've contracted dermatitis now 3 times from this place, the most recent being on 9/1. I got a mani & pedi & both my hands, cuticles & toes are enflamed, itchy, & blister bubbles forming hours after I left the place. They burned my skin multiple times with the drill, made several of my toenails crooked, didnt apply the acrylic correctly so 3 of my nails are sideways, shorter than others or dont match at all. The pricing is never the same the next time I come in, even if it's for the same service. They add on charges as they go but keep it to themselves till after they're finished and it's time to pay. My nail tech filed under my pinky nail so hard that it caused severe bleeding and separation from my nail to my skin, no apology given, she just squirted some green liquid on it and continued filing till I asked her to stop, due to causing more bleeding and irritation. NONE OF THEM CLEAN OR DISINFECT THEIR NAIL TOOLS! They go from client to client reusing the same drills using their clothing to clean off cuticle tools, etc. Im ashamed to even say ive came here as long as I did , but when I work 90+hour weeks & 1 day off, I try to make due with what I can & come here for the convenience but no more. The "manager" in store is horrible, argues with customers when they bring concerns to her, fighting that it's THEIR fault not the techs. it's getting really out of hand & this place needs to be shut down! I will continue reporting this place till its shut down, its a high health risk for a lot of people and they dont even know it. They try to only show you the good designs they do on instagram to lure you in but I promise you that's not the consistency of their work or business . Half the time it's the nail techs hands doing their own designs it's not the customers. The place is filthy, you'll be able to tell from the moment you walk in, You dont even get hot water in your pedicure treatment it's a bucket brought out of cold water....even at the end of my nail service, she didnt dust off the acrylic debris, instead she gets oil and rubs it in my skin. What is this!!! This is a nightmare I will never give this place my business again. Even the old receptionist that use to work the front, would tell me how bad the owner is & lacks caring for the establishment & doesn't care about improving the place. Makes sense why she left. Getting your nails done use to be a relaxation moment for us women, even the men too. Its turned into a horror house, always wondering if they're going to cut me, stab me, I constantly have to watch my nail tech how they do my nails because its never consistent outcome of what I ask for. I was in the area and needed a quick mani/pedi. Found this place on yelp. Pros: 1. Takes walk-ins 2. Prices are reasonable for basic mani ($20) and pedi ($35) 3. No hard upsells 4. Nail techs are friendly Cons: 1. The place can use a revamp. The template/folder for nail colors was quite dirty and falling apart. (See photo). The spa chair was stained and dirty. 2. There were some issues with the accuracy of the colors on the palette vs. actual colors. I had to pick different colors a few times, either because the nail colors didn't match what was in the bottle or it was not available. 3. I got my nails done on Monday, and my mani was already chipped on Wednesday. 4. After they painted my nails, I was left alone by myself. No one came back to check on my nails and whether I was ready to go. No disposable flip flops provided, and no one helped with my sandals either. I had a nail appointment with Vivian for Gel X and she did a great job! She soaked them off and applied a fresh set within 1 hour. The price is comparable to other salons in the area. The cons are the location is sketchy so I will only go during the day, parking is crazy which is expected in DTLA and I don't remember if the tools were sterilized or if she uses the same tools on all of her customers without cleaning them. One last thing the salon wasn't the cleanest, like the floors needed to be swept, and she didn't use a clean towel, which had debris on it, after drilling and removing the set of nails that I came in with, which is not what I'm used to... This nail SHOP (I won't even bother calling it a nail SALON because the professionalism is long gone) treats LOYAL customers -who have been with them for YEARS- like they are just another dollar in their pocket. -They are obviously charging high dollar prices while using the cheapest of products because your nails will not last for more than a week. -Also, they are unsanitary (but have the audacity to ask you to wash your hands while they don't even wash theirs) and the girl at the front desk is so desperate to have you add-on services so that even when they mess up your nails and have you to come back in to have them fixed, they STILL find a way to charge you. -September of last year, I tried getting in with the person that I normally go to (Tracy) bus since she was not there, they put me with a newer nail tech. I asked for a gel overlay on my real nails. The nail job was so bad that by the next day, my nails were so completely ugly, oddly shaped and peeling that I sent photos (see gold nails below) I didn't wanna where they had no choice but to tell me to come back in. They claimed that the gel overlay that I received was the wrong kind of gel and that I would have to pay $15 extra to have them fixed. So let me get this straight: YOUR NAIL TECH applied "the wrong" gel but I am responsible for paying for getting the "right" one AFTER spending additional money for the inconvenience of traveling back to have it fixed?? (MIND YOU, I travel by Uber/Lyft). December of last year, I had my nails done right before flying back home to Texas. The day that I had them done, they were rushing getting ready to close early for their Christmas party. So I had to correct Tracy several times for rushing, filing my nails down too short and changing the shape from what I normally get. I get that they had a Christmas party but that should not impact the quality of my nail service. My nails literally began to break the next day. Everyday they either peeled or continued to break so I messaged them and once again, they asked me to come back in. The problem is that I was out of town for two weeks and when I returned, they could not see me. I am a hairstylist and work in tv and film so I do not have the leisure to just pop back in to have mistakes that could have been prevented in the first place if they would just bother to CARE. -Needless to say, a couple of more weeks went by and I finally just asked to come back in to have them removed. Greedy ass at the front desk told me that there would be a charge to remove the shabby job that THEY did. No accountability. No integrity. JUST GREED. I will tell the world to steer clear of this place. I cannot wait until they get shut down...because mark my word: THEY WILL. YELP removed my original review claiming that I provided "promotional content", even after I updated the review to ensure that this was not the case. Deete it again and I will be posting again. They will NOT continue to get away with this. Also, be sure to read the rest of the reviews on here. I am NOT the only one. I have been coming here for years because the prices were good and so was the designs. The lady who owned it originally was so sweet and made sure the technicians were too. Once it was sold it went beyond downhill. Everyone is rude and overcharges for everything , pay before the service is even started and tip, will scream at you if you raise a concern. I got the pedicure service. I called in to book an appointment and Sabrina act like she didn't know who I was even though I booked 20 minutes before on the phone. Sabrina the receptionist was way too much with her up selling. She asked me twice did I want my nails done. No means No! Sabrina also consistently asked me to get a higher priced pedicure. I continued to tell her no. Sabrina seemed desperate for money. Sabrina told me she ask everyone to wash their hands before entering. A Caucasian entered did not ask her to wash her hands. She tried to say it was a mistake, but I know it was not. Also asked did I have a iPhone and asked in a shocked manner..so irrelevant. She came across as very biased.
