Chazito's in Pooler was a Sunday afternoon stop in search of an evening meal. Wanting to avoid the very heavy vehicular traffic on Pooler Parkway, I opted to drive down Highway 80 instead. Chazito's beckoned and I stopped by. I noticed the colorful building you cannnot miss situated in the middle of the block. There is plenty of on-site parking and exterior dining tables were available. Being a novice in reference to Latin Cuisine, I ordered the "Puerto Rico Plate" which consisted of roasted pork, Spanish rice and beans and choice of one side. For my side I chose a beef empanada. The meal was prepared and ready in approximately fifteen minutes, The pork was tender and delicious, with the remaining items also being very tasty. None of the food items needed additional seasoning as it was all cooked and seasoned perfectly. I was very happy with my order and look forward to future visits at this establishment. read more

They have increased their prices by 150% and quality now is disgusting. $63.00 for 2 meals with stale bread, hard, old pork, white processed cheese and black plantains. First time here! Definitely an interesting/novel dining experience for me. I played safe and had taco & yuca fries with a tamarind drink. I love everything. Yuca fries are better than French fries for sure. My husband had a burrito with pork skins--the fried pork skins are crunchy and actually quite tasty. The staff are friendly. The decor colorful with fun music. The only downside is there's no AC inside, but it's not too bad. They have plenty of outside seats too. read more

I ordered quite a bit! Fried pork chucks rice and beans, red beans and potatoes and monfongo.. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO SEASONING ON ANYTHING... The red beans and potatoes taste like WATER ABSOLUTELY NOTHING which is crazy cause the liquid is colored which I thought would come from seasons. I've always loved this place have been coming for years! Went back a few days ago and the guy working the register acted like he hated his job or us I'm not sure. Was rude to me and my wife. Chazito's is a charming little place that reminds me of el barrio back home. Their dishes are pretty much like any Puerto Rican abuela (grandma) would cook. The Restaurant and Entertainment Not fussy and really colorful , it has an island-y feel. Once you walk in and place your order. They will bring it to your table when it's ready. There is a (nevera) refrigerator with an array of latin drinks that you can just grab when you pay.. No need to wait for those. There are a few tables inside but it's kind of small . The husband and I preferred to enjoy our meal in the open air. Out back there are a few tables on a little patch of astroturf surrounded by the food truck and the set where the entertainment performs from. The food truck made it all the more charming with all the artwork. We were there today ( Saturday) and they had a young musician that had a beautiful sweet, soulful voice. The Food I had mofongo with barbecue grilled chicken and fried sweet plantains. My mofongo was super fresh but lacked salt, my chicken was incredibly delicious but dry and the sweet plantains were good. The Cuban Sandwich we shared would have been pretty good but it was mostly salty pulled pork ( too much adobo) but basically had a good flavor. It was NOT a classic Cuban. My husband had the arroz con gandules, pulled pork and fried plantains. Let me start with the arroz con gandules.. It was exceptional. Some of the best I have ever tried. Fresh and seasoned beautifully. Sadly the pork was way too salty and the only way to eat it was in tiny bits with my under salted mofongo. Together it was a nice bite. Being Cuban, I wanted to absolutely LOVE this place and while I do like the idea, the food fell a little short. The service was friendly and it's just the kind of place that I want to try again because I want to think the kitchen had an off day with the salt. At Chazito's at 217 Hwy 80 in Pooler for authentic Puerto Rican Cuisine! We saw it featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and thought we would give it a try. On 1st Saturdays, they have a whole pig roast and this is the Lechon Plate with roasted pork, rice & beans, mixed plantains and tamales. Delicious and a good sampler. Another one of their specialties is the Sloppy Jose' sandwich which we will try next time. Very friendly, family run business with great service. I've been to Chazito's a number of times and I've also eaten from the Food Truck! The service is always fast, friendly and I've always felt welcomed! The Guava BBQ Wings, Boricua Burrito, Macho Yuca fries and the Nachos are my top recommendations! The Mango coleslaw is hit and miss but its worth a try. When I had it made fresh it was soo refreshing the last time the cabbage was grated really thick and slaw itself was very watery. This is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a very long time and certainly the best Latin food I've had in Georgia.

I had the Puerto Rican Plate and I didn't even make it out of the restaurant before I dug in! The meat was seasoned well and the rice and beans reminded me of home (I'm originally from NY)...the tostones weren't dry and cooked to perfection. I spent around $16 bucks but it was a lot of food. I was so pleased with my food but I could have done without the avocado. I immediately placed it in the trash. Overall, great food and though small we found a place to sit. read more

So there are 2 locations. One is the actual restaurant, and one was a food truck. We ate at the food truck that was located by the Jepson Art Museum. And it's there daily. I got a Cuban and fried plantains. This was probably the best Cuban and fried plantains I've ever had. The portion itself is for 2 people. The sandwich had so much flavor. So I was told by a customer who lives in the area that this was the place to try, everything was good. He likes it so much he said he tries not to eat there too often, as he's afraid of getting spoiled. This place has been featured on diners, drive-ins and dives and for good reason. It's a totally charming old gas station with two food trucks parked on the side, with astro turf, picnic tables and high top outside as well as some eating inside. Tammy was friendly and patient and helped me pick my order. Funny, when I asked her what she'd recommend she had real trouble picking, as she also liked everything on the menu, but since it was my first time there she directed me to the Boricua burrito with shredded pork (you can get other meats) and the Yucca fries. The burrito was, huge, juicy and flavorful - not dry like so many burritos I have eaten, even the rice was juicy and this is not because of some sauce they added after. The mix of plantains rice & beans, cheese, and shredded pork was amazing and balanced. yucca fries and dipping sauce (similar to thousand island) were also top notch, crunchy on the outside & creamy inside, perfectly cooked. The mango passion fruit juice tasted like water down soap. The cheese in the cheese empanada didn't taste too good as well. The maduros ( sweet plantain ) was definitely overcooked/ burnt. I did decide to give it two stars because the shrimp empanada was very delicious and seasoned well. Other than that, I didn't find anything special about this place. If I were to come back, it'll be to grab some shrimp empanadas and that's it. Also, they are pretty pricey for what you get. $5 per empanada is too much in my opinion. read more

WARNING for those with food allergies! I visited on 4/18/2021 with my family from out of town and recommended Chazito's as a top choice for Latin American food in the Savannah area. I raved about their macho yuca fries and carne frita, which I've enjoyed on previous visits. My sister, who has a severe shellfish/seafood allergy, ordered a boricua burrito with a beef empanada on the side. We found out that she received a shrimp empanada after she bit into it. Shortly after, her throat felt tingly and started to close up, and I notified our server she got the wrong empanada. My sister and I had to leave in the middle of our meal to drive to the nearest pharmacy to buy an antihistamine/allergy medicine. I understand mistakes can be made in a fast-paced environment, but food items with common allergens such as shellfish, tree nuts, etc should be clearly labeled and separated to avoid potentially harmful situations like this. I am hesitant on returning and will not be recommending this establishment due to its negligence on today's visit. read more

Delicious, authentic PR food. We saw this restaurant showcased in DDD with Guy Fiery and decided to stop by on a recent trip. Did not disappoint. I had the grilled chicken skewers with rice and pineapple coleslaw and the hubs had the loaded yuca fries. Empanadas were the appetizer. Empanadas were ok. My skewers came with a guava bbq sauce that was very unique and very delicious. I'g go back for that alone. I feel the coleslaw could have used a twist of lime to kick it up a notch but it was good too. I look forward to patronizing again in future trips to Savannah. read more

Chazito's is a great little hole in the wall Latin Restaurant on U.S 80 in Pooler. Went for lunch for my first time visit. Was greeted by a very nice and helpful lady with great recommendations for what to order. I ordered the Macho Yuca Fries and the Boricua Burrito meal both with beef and pork skins as the side. Both were delicious and full of flavor. Portion size was way bigger than I expected. Can't wait to go back. So If you are ever in the Savannah or Pooler area I highly recommend this place! read more
