What a cute restaurant, in my town. Me and my daughter came for brunch and ordered from their brunch menu. I had a simple breakfast with oj and my daughter had the jerk BLT. I was completely satisfied with my meal everything was cooked perfectly. My daughter said her sandwich was very delicious but could be a bit more spicy (jerk style). All in all the service was friendly and the food didn't take long either. Would definitely come back to try the other interesting options. Loved it

Big Breakfast with homemade andouille sausage

You'll find a laid back, coastal, flip flop vibe with plenty of loyal customers at Tortuga's. Artwork of marine life and Caribbean Island scenes adorn the walls and are priced "For Sale". I opted for the Big Breakfast because it offered a variety of items, and it was recommended by a table of locals sitting nearby. The andouille sausage, made in house, was delish! The eggs were cooked as ordered, the biscuit was tender and hefty, and the coarse ground grits, topped with optional pepper jack cheese, were delish. The Big Breakfast also comes with a choice of pancakes or French toast. The option of Texas toast, French Toast with their homemade praline pecan topping was quite tasty! Always on the ready for fried shrimp, my daughter and I enjoyed a side of their lightly coated, crispy fried shrimp. I would certainly return just for the fried shrimp! Their homemade tartar sauce was very good, and I appreciated the lumps of horseradish, served on top of the ketchup, so that you could blend your desired amount. They sell beer, wine, have boozy brunch cocktails, and additional outdoor patio dining at their entrance.

This was the perfect spot for a local lunch! The food was fresh and seasoned uniquely. I had a Caesar salad with The fresh catch, jerk style. He had an andouille sausage Philly cheesesteak with in house made sausage. Our bloody Mary's were made with Soke. Oh my!!!! I could eat here everyday!

This is right along the river in Thunderbolt. My group of 6 rolled in for brunch right at 10 or so. There was plenty of seating available, indoors and out. We opted to stay inside where it was nice and cool. The food was great. The asiago on the grits was good, though cheddar was also. The french toast was far and away the best dish. Everyone in the group wanted to try some and said it was great. Though everything else we got (omelettes, sandwiches, etc) was really good. They state they are a little understaffed, but our server was always there when needed. Though our food wasn't all ready at exactly the same time. For a small restaurant and the group we had, not an issue. Especially since some of it was the server needing to make a second trip anyway.

    Menu and misspelled artwork

This place has lots of potential. Four of us arrived for a early dinner at about 6:30. The location is easy to get to and there's parking nearby. There's plenty of tables inside and the artwork on the walls is nice (except that they misspelled the name of their town- see picture). There was no effort to decorate the tables and the silverware was wrapped in paper napkins. They just don't have their act together at all. They had a decent beer list and a few wines but they don't have a liquor license and that's just slack. Their prices are high and the silly way the prices are presented impacted my decision. For example, their blackened pasta dish was $16.95 but the added protein was absurdly expensive ($13 for chicken, $16 for shrimp, & $21 for grouper). I got the pasta with no protein and it was pretty good. My wife's salad was ordered with dressing on the side and of course they dumped it on the salad and the waitress didn't catch it and delivered it that way. The service was fair, but she didn't know the specials and she didn't really know the menu. Overall I was quite disappointed and I doubt we will go back.

    The "big" breakfast... comforting food!

Very nice experience... We've seen this place several times as our boat marina is across the street. The restaurant is unassuming, casual, and comfortable. We were seated immediately and got our drinks quickly. There's a lot to choose from on the menu -- we did brunch -- from omelets to scrambles, pancakes, biscuits, and specials. I had the big breakfast and asked for cheese on my eggs and my bacon crisp. I got both. The pancake was fluffy and yummy. The grits lacked a creaminess to me, but overall had a good taste. Others in the group enjoyed the sausage, French toast, Portobello and grouper scramble, and biscuits that take up the whole plate. Our server was attentive and our drinks constantly were refilled without asking. As for handicapped accessibility, there's one handicapped spot up front, a small step to get in and out, and the bathroom has bars and a wide door. Looking forward to coming again and trying more! Just a little thing, though...the website reads "Southern Fair with a Caribbean Flair." Please, please, please fix the typo to Southern Fare. Thx!

It's a really pretty, sunny room with a few different seating areas (bar, upstairs, main seating, sidewalk, etc.) just a short Uber (or middling walk) from Downtown. Reasonably priced and totally worth your trip over to check it out. Might be my best breakfast of the year so far, and it's December! Short rib hash bowl was both moist and crispy, just the right side of too salty and had some real zing. Umami, for sure! Yum (my mouth's watering just thinking of it a couple days later)! My wife loved her inexpensive (but perfect) waffle and bacon and her hot toddy was pretty inspired. I grabbed a piece of gingerbread cake for the plane home and that proved to be an inspired idea. Tyla took great care of us, whirling around all the other tables and other staffers. Wow, but the place is hopping. Looking at the inspired menu and especially all the baked goods and shakes, well - right then we made up our minds that we HAD to return to Savannah - to eat more of this! I'm glad I don't live nearby: I'd be as big as a house.

The refund came through exactly as he said it would. To be clear, the food on my visit genuinely missed, and I'm not pretending otherwise. But Tyler responded publicly, owned it, and followed through completely. That kind of accountability is rare, and it's what earned the bump. Credit where it's due on the space, too -- the ambiance is genuinely great. Warm, candle-lit dining room, an open kitchen, a well-stocked bar, and a covered patio that had a real buzz to it. It's a spot that looks and feels like somewhere you want to be, which is exactly why I'd give the kitchen another shot based on how the owner runs this place. --- Original review (2 stars): Disappointing birthday dinner. Came in for my birthday and left underwhelmed. Our server Troy was the one bright spot -- professional and attentive all night. Caesar salad: Several bitter pieces of lettuce, and no black pepper offered or available. Faroe Island salmon: Overly buttery like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The shishito cream sauce was way too acidic -- tasted like uncooked wine or vinegar. Crispy rice cakes were bland and a strange pairing (rice blocks with salmon?). The baby bok choy was decent until the sauce drowned it out. Braised beef short rib: Tender but flavorless. The mashed potatoes tasted old, not fresh that evening. To top it off, my wife had arranged ahead of time for the birthday dessert to be brought out -- the message never reached Troy, so that moment never happened. Troy deserved better than what the kitchen sent out.

Erica Davis Lowcountry sits on Victory Drive in Thunderbolt -- a town so small it has exactly one square mile of land and a name borrowed from a lightning strike that supposedly split open a freshwater spring on the Wilmington River bluff. The restaurant itself has a similar origin story: a long-shuttered seafood spot called Teeple's, left empty for years, brought back to life by Erica and Dwight Davis with real care. The gaslight sconces out front stayed. So did the bones of the building. The garage doors open when the weather cooperates. We came in late on a Friday, catching the final stretch of their brunch service. Hannah (I believe) was our server -- in training, which you wouldn't have guessed. She steered us well and managed the table (and the room) with a confidence that didn't feel performed. We started with the Barbecue Shrimp and the Oysters Rockefeller. The barbecue shrimp -- Georgia shrimp in a spiced, rich sauce served with toasts -- was good but the one I'd skip on a return visit. The Oysters Rockefeller are the opposite story: roasted, finished with creamed collards and parmesan, and genuinely one of the better bites I've had in recent memory. Order them. My husband had the Wassaw Redfish -- pan-seared over stone-ground grits with garlic beurre blanc and heirloom tomato. Clean, confident cooking. I had the Sunday fried chicken, which delivered exactly what that dish promises when it's done right. Sides of fresh green beans, South Georgia collards, and Erica's Famous Coleslaw held their own across the board. Dessert was the Key Lime Pie, served in a cup that does not prepare you for how good it is. Tart and creamy in the right proportion. We didn't leave any behind. The family's seafood history in Savannah goes back to 1946. You can feel that kind of depth in a kitchen -- not in any one dramatic bite, but in the steadiness of it all.

I ordered the Lowcountry Boil, which comes with shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage. The sausage and potatoes were good, and the seasoning was decent, but I was underwhelmed overall, especially considering the price. The shrimp didn't seem particularly fresh and had some white spots and discoloration that gave me the impression they may have been frozen for quite a while. As a result, the dish didn't quite live up to the hype for me. My wife ordered the Wassaw Redfish, which was recommended by our server, and that ended up being the standout dish of the meal. The redfish was cooked well, the garlic beurre blanc sauce was rich without being overwhelming, and the grits were creamy and flavorful. The shrimp and green beans complemented the dish nicely. Overall, the experience was mixed. The atmosphere was pleasant, and my wife's entrée was very good, but the Lowcountry Boil fell short of expectations. I'd consider coming back to try some of their other menu items, but based on this visit, I wouldn't order the boil again.
