I cannot recommend them enough. This was the easiest FFL transfer ever. My item was delayed because of the recent storms, and I was a bit worried, having never used them before. But all my worries were put to rest the day of delivery. I received a text that they received my shipment, and informed me of their hours of operation for transfers. Park in back in the north lot opposite Central as that's their own lot. Walk around to the front door on Central and ring their doorbell. The paperwork was quick and easy, and she clearly pointed out everything I had to fill out. Background check only took a few seconds. I was in and out with my package in 10 minutes. $30 per transfer and your 7th one is free. As for the training, etc. I cannot comment. If/when I take any classes, I will update. read more

Sam's class has EVERYTHING you need to feel confident and knowledgeable on not only how to wield and operate a firearm, but of the laws and possible scenarios you may encounter. Sam, a retired police officer and pilot has a laid back personality. As a woman and first time shooter, it was intimidating to walk into a class full of men who already had some experience with firearms. Thankfully, Sam's inclusive, humorous and welcoming personality helped put me at ease. In this class you learn the current laws in place for the state of Illinois, what other states your Conceal Carry License is valid, the importance of being able to defend yourself/your family should the need ever arise, when it is appropriate to use your firearm, how to operate and troubleshoot any problems with the firearm and so SO much more (we even acted out different scenarios)! When I stepped into class the first day, I was afraid. Afraid of what I didn't know about guns. After going through the class, I now have a better understanding that yes, it should always be handled with care and only drawn when a life is threatened -- it isn't guns we should fear, but instead those who intend on using them or any weapon to harm us. I usually get my guns transferred to FFL by my house since cook county has lovely ban on so called "assault weapons" bans, meaning a lot of businesses will not ship your typical ar-15 to cook county. But stripped/complete lowers, I get them sent over to Check your 6 so I can pick them up on the way home. They are Lovely people to deal with, easy and painless transaction for all your firearm transfer needs. $30 per transfer which is about $20 cheaper than a lot of difference FFLs and your 7th transfer is totally free. I have gone to Check Your 6 for a number of firearms transfers and recently took their concealed carry class. I've taken a few different firearms classes from other shops and this was by far the best one. The class is not only helpful for someone who has never handled a gun before but as a seasoned gun owner I also found it very helpful and learned a few things myself over the course of the day. I would recommend this course and Check Your 6 for all firearms related items. I don't think they do any gun smithing but you can certainly ask. read more

Sam is a great and engaging instructor, who was able to tailor our CCW class for a very mixed group of people (some were very experienced, others were complete novices and bit intimidated). His experience as a former police officer was invaluable in explaining the legal and practical implications of various CCW scenarios.
