As a small business owner, I understand the power of on-line perception. I personally never complain, I simply never shop again. Been a customer of CF for 19 years, never had an issue. Then I had an issue after a service I received. Because of the potential impact it could have had to my automobile, I was emotional, so I went in to voice my concern. The first technician, "J", I dealt with should NEVER be allowed to resolve customer issues, probably the worst I have ever seen in 40+ years in retail. Probably damaging the businesses reputation with others. He called Cody the owner, I waited, Cody drove in to meet me. He listened, understood, then simply resolved my problem. I was not looking for something free, or a refund, but some type of solution. Cody delivered. This guy gets it, and I will be a loyal CF customer for life. Awful experience. I wanted a quote on brakes. Pulled up to an empty bay and was told it would take 15 min to look at and quote. Over an hour later, I'm still sitting there while three other customers who came after me Got their oil changes completed and left. Including one of the tech's "friends" that they pulled my vehicle out for and gave a "special" price. When I finally asked for a status, no one knew or had even looked at the brakes. Came in for my UT registration renewal on a Saturday morning. and was busy but they were moving cars through quickly. I noticed they helped an elderly couple put their tags on which I thought was kind. I just wanted to comment on my post from two years ago with the oil leak. I ended up taking my car in to the BMW shop, because it's an older model. It was nothing that happened at Checker, but luckily the paperwork let me know that it was leaking oil. There was actually a leak in the oil pan, but again my BMW is in my older and something needs to be fixed on that car all the time. New places are opening up closer to me, but this is my go to for oil changes and registration renewals. read more

I can't decide if I should give this place a 3 star or a 2 star... So I had a used vehicle I needed an inspection done on. So I called Checkered Flag and asked about there PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection). Now the young man on the phone seemed very friendly and stood behind the fact that they did a very through inspection and that it would be a good idea for me to bring it to them. So I did. Now I get there and over the phone they told me 30-40 min to do the inspection and they told me in person that it would be 1 hour. I wasn't very happy about that but I understand things change, but that's not the worst of it. The young man who ran me through the inspection when it was all said and done, talked to me like I was a complete child who knew nothing about nothing. He said there was a whole in the exhaust and so therefore he didn't even know what the mid pipe was in the exhaust system. The worst of it all was when he told me that the truck had torn axle boots/ CV joints. I crawl under the truck after leaving the place and come to find out that I don't have any torn boots or axles but my tie rods are super worn out. The mechanic had NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS EVEN LOOKING AT!!!!! Bottom line if your looking for a oil change I would recommend this place. But if your looking for a professional thorough good job with knowledgeable mechanics. I would drive out of this place as fast as you can. PERIOD. read more

I had a sudden need and was able to immediately get into the shop. I'm not one to get on here for mechanics, but these guys were seriously the friendliest and most positive mechanics I've encountered. Plus, they had a soda fountain with caffeine and Powerade, so I got to treat my migraine while they worked over my car! Their waiting room was also clean, which seems to be rare in auto repair shops. I always try to support local businesses, but you can't polish a turd. The business owner consistently overcharges and underdelivers all while ranting about political ideologies on their marque light board. In-person, the workers are very unprofessional and the kind who like to 'bully' customers into services. After getting my oil change, I got home to find my less-than-a-year-old $100k car had the oil drain stripped out by the tech and they didn't even bother to fix it and/or say anything. After finding oil all over my epoxied garage, I took it to the dealership to find out that isn't all they did, or didn't do as it were... The air filters (Cabin and Engine) were not changed even after they charged me for it. Still had the same stains. But the dealership said they weren't even close to being time to change them. So not only did they lie saying they needed changing but then didn't even bother to do the work. I'm all for supporting my neighbor, but this one is a grade-A scammer. read more

They didn't try and sell me on anything else and I was out within 10 minutes. I have been taking my car in for 3 years and the oil changes were ok. I don't like the constant up sell everytime in but seems all do that. I took my 2010 f150 in for an oil change for the first time at checker flag. They brought out the clear plastic tray with the oil samples, what it should look like and what mine looked like. Mine had metal bits in the two differentials and in the transmission. Two odd things however. 1. I had the ford dealer service the transmission only a few months before. Seriously the fluid was that dirty and loaded with metal. He said "well we don't do a crap job". 2. The oil on all three samples were clear enough to see the metal at the bottom of the sample tray. My experience is that the oil in the differentials would have been very dirty and you would not have been able to see the metal in the bottom of the tray. This is an old time scam. I was so disappointed as I had thought they were a reputable business. I won't be going back. read more

I love the service and speediness here, but am not a fan of the politics they are promoting nor the fact that they weren't following ANY COVID guidelines. No masks, no sanitation, no social distancing. Nothing. But what do you expect with a red state. Besides that, their service was fast and I was even able to stay in my car during the oil change. Would give 0 stars if I could. Show up for an oil change and the owner comes out with both my air filters saying they are dirty and need to be replaced. So I assume he is telling the truth and pay for them to be installed and replaced. Come to find out later my cabin air filter was never even replaced, in fact, they took my filter out and didn't even put one back in. So we drove around with no filter and had no idea until I went to check because we found some trim in our dash 6 months later. Mistakes happen but things get worse, I return to the shop where they check and sure enough there is no air filter. Then I tell them how this isn't acceptable due to safety concerns of pollutants and air quality while traveling (any Google search from reputable mechanic and dealer forums will say so). The same man who told me I needed a new filter when he sold it to me began to tell me that cabin air filters are not necessary when I came back to actually get what I payed for. I asked him why he sells and pushes a product to people that isn't necessary and he did not have an answer. Seems like cabin air filters are only essential when your shop is making a pretty penny to replace them. But the second you mess up and I want something done about it, it's not a problem and they aren't installed. They suddenly are not necessary. Apparently this guy was the owner too. Terrible service, nothing done to compensate the 6 month 0 interest loan I basically gave them on an air filter. When you pay for a product and do not receive that product that is stealing even if it is a mistake a business owner should recognize how bad this looks and compensate accordingly. I've been here for an oil change about 4 times. Each time they have been very friendly and professional. I love how everyone here really has a passion for their job. I know nothing about cars and I appreciate that the people here are always upfront and honest. Their prices are pretty average. I believe their standard bottom price for an oil change is $39.99 for 5 quarts. They offer special synthetic blends that I think are made there for around $50-60 for 5 quarts. If you have the extra money you minus well get the synthetic blend because it lasts almost twice as long as regular oil. They are fast convenient and very close to my home. read more

Friendly enough. If this is a place you plan on going to on an annual basis or semi-annual basis you will find a different crew each time. However, the thing that does not seem to change is that when you pay for a full service oil change, even though your bill/receipt show that they allegedly did a long list of things...they might have done half of those things. I wouldn't mind if things like vacuum and windshield cleaning and liquid top-off were not included BUT it is highly unethical to write on the paper that they were "COMPLETED", when it was instantly clear that none of those things were done. Took my car in for emissions. I was greeted right away and everyone I spoke with was very nice. The service was remarkably fast - I was in and out in 10 minutes. Took my Suburban in for maintenance including radiator flush, transmission flush and oil change. Also had a heater issue. Tyson also diagnosed a bad thermostat. Paid over $500 for the repair and flush. They worked late to get me out that night... I thought we had a fair exchange. Drove my vehicle 2 miles to my home and parked it in the driveway. Next morning I had a huge puddle of fluid under my vehicle. I called them and they towed it in. Tyson said the water pump was bad and that it was leaking badly the night before. So I'm like "if you knew it had a bad water pump and was leaking already, why did you flush it and diagnose a bad thermostat"? Kind of a rip off!? Charged me $240 for the repair and radiator flush... when they said they already knew it was leaking...and $70 for the tow! This whole deal stinks! Feel like I was ripped off! read more

Got an oil change before driving to Nevada. Returning home from work, noticed a big oil puddle from the night before. They didn't tighten the plug properly and it was working loose. Tyler claims to have fix the issue, but has also added more issues to my suburban(to long of a list for details). I'd be very careful with trusting checker flags in lehi with my ride. I have gotten my oil changed and my tags renewed a few times here. It is just okay. Sometimes the service is excellent and other times, I feel like I wait a long time and they are always trying to sell me something that I don't need. It is definitely better than Jiffy Lube but not as great as dealerships (but who wants to pay that?!?). It is handy to a lot of places to shop and eat, so if you need to do a couple of errands while they work, it is worth it. read more
