Swiss onion burger, already ate the onion on top

Prowling around the back roads of central PA, I started to feel a mite peckish. And when you feel peckish in the middle of nowhere, good luck! Because the first few towns I went through had nothing. I could have knocked on someone's door... but no, I think I prefer an actual meal. Finally got to Mount Union, and spied an unassuming local establishment. Those are always the best, and Checker's is no exception! The prices are a throwback to days of old. It feels like a nice diner inside, friendly service, casual warm ambiance, a place that never really made it out of the '80s, and once you're there, you won't feel like it ever needs to change. In addition to paying less, you get a good quantity of delicious, fresh-grilled food, made to your liking - I asked for and received my burger medium-rare. So when you're hungry and you're in the middle of PA, plug Mount Union into your GPS and come on over to Checker's to fill you up right!

The big Dixon. A MUST try.

The servers are always super nice and the food is really good. It's worth the trip to get out of the house. I recommend the breakfast.

Try to call and order something and they don't answer the phone. Not recommended to order from there. Very annoying

My food did come out 15 minutes later than my pal. Was kinda weird. My only complaint is their service process. You have to go up and order at the bar your food and drink. Yep! Spent $50. By myself and I had to stand in line if I wanted another drink/water or if I needed anything that wasn't on the table. Asking questions about the menu you have stand in line. Ridiculous process. They lose 2 stars for that alone. A restaurant/bar is about the food/drink and service. They only have half of that right. I hope they change this. I've been in the service industry most of my life and it's one of two things. 1. Servers/bartenders cannot handle doing both tasks. Or. 2. They're lazy and rather make you wait.

Casual dining, decent sandwich and appetizer selections. Saturday night had a DJ, and the crowd switched from older adults at 6 to younger adults as the evening went on. Large dining area, with large and small tables, seat yourself. Price was reasonable, under $50 with beer and meal for two. Full bar. Large parking if you include the market lot, which is plenty. Side entrance in addition to to front door, and some patio seating, although it was snowing on Sunday.

I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised at how good this small restaurant / sports bar is…read morethat was attached to Suburban Bowlerama, on Queen Street, in York, Pa. Wife, daughter and myself first had three games in the alley, which went by at good time for three games. But the real treat was when some of the customers exited this little eatery as we bowled, we couldn't help but smell the food being served just behind us on the furthest end of the alleys. When we came inside, Michelle had greeted us pleasantly, and asked if I needed a chair moved as I was in a wheelchair, but the tables were perfect height and had no trouble at all getting a place to eat. ^^ A few other people were dotted around different seats as multiple TVs played various sports, as we started looking on the menus of what was making our mouths water. My daughter ordered the Nashville Hot Shrimp, Wife had the chilli, and decided to get a small speciality pizza, Ham with fig sauce ... ?... I decided to get a bowl of the creame of crab soup and sweet tea. Food took a small while to make, but when it came out, it was AMAZING. The soup was in a wide styled bowl with crackers, and no lie. It was perfect. Then my wife had started on her chilli, and she said it was exactly how her mom used to make it from North Carolina, it was THAT Good. Daughter had started on her hot shrimp and was happily bouncing in her seat as she loved the heat and the taste. Then when me and wife got done with the bowls of OMG Goodness, then she offered me a piece of her pizza, and I tell you, I NEVER Had such an outstanding combination on a pizza before as I had here. It was a white flat bread pizza, and the ham was perfect with crisp edges, but the best part was the sweet fig sauce. It was perfectly balanced with the salty meat and the sweet drizzled sauce on top. Michelle came by and asked how we were doing, and she just smiled as we told her how good the food was. She had let us know the menu was changing, and thanked us for letting her know what we liked, hopefully they will keep our choices on those menus, as they will be choices we will definitely order again, the next time we head there for bowling. So please, when you get food there at Alley Oops, tell Michelle how good your choices they are, and see when they change the menu, they keep the choices on. I couldn't recommend this food eatery place highly enough, as seeing how excellent the food is, and Michelle's pleasant personality made the day for us. We WILL be back again... ^^ Cheers and God Bless... Deaf Gryphon ^^
