Broccoli rice and cheese was covered with bland saltines. There were more crackers than broccoli. Green beans were barely seasoned to the point where there was no flavor. I really have had the best of luck with food lately. We ran across this establishment while shopping in Fort Smith. The employees are extremely polite and on top of things. The food was amazing my husband got a steak that was perfectly cook my child got chicken strips that were the best fried chicken strips he has ever had. We will definitely be back. Note to management with the new virus and your policies you have removed all seating area for people to wait for their number to be called this put us waiting outside in the heat with no shade and no place to sit you do not allow your customers to wait inside. I've been here several times and the service and food is great. They are often busy on the weekends and do not have call ahead reservations. The longest wait was on a Saturday for about 45 minutes. They give you a buzzer and we entertained my nieces and nephew until it was time to eat. The food didn't take too long to come out and they were quick with the drinks. I love all the options. I always enjoy their strawberry lemonade and it's free refills. From the bacon cheeseburgers to the chicken pot pies, the menu options are endless and they even have healthy options that are less than 600 calories with salmon which I have had. I'm happy with this place every time I go! They have quick service and the food is very reasonably priced. They recent expanded the many with several new dishes. How exciting! I suggest the spinach dip as an appetizer. My favorite dish; I get it everytime I go! They are usually busier in the evening times so during the day around 2 is your best bet if you want to get in quickly. The plants and fish tank makes the place have a fun atmosphere! Well cheddars will no longer be a place we eat....horrible service, took over an hour to get 2 medium cooked sirloin steaks. Mine was medium rare, the other was medium well. Same exact steaks, cooked 100% differently. The waiter said 'sorry about the fries', they were definitely old and definitely cold. Why he didn't request a new set of fries for us is beyond me, as he could see how bad they looked. My mashed potatoes were very cold. When the waiter saw we didn't eat hardly anything he sent the manager who apologized and said 'u came at a bad time our steak cook doesn't get here til after 5.' Ummmm then who cooked our steaks and why serve steaks if ur 'steak guy' isn't here? Very weird experience. She did have the 'steak guy' remake my husbands steak. Inconsistent. This place is basic, to be honest. It isn't anything to write home about. The service, food and drinks are hit or miss. Sometimes I go in a get a decent server and have pretty good food. However it seems more often than not, when I visit the food and service is bland. I visited last week and order the Cajun Pasta, which in all honesty wasn't horrible. However, the waitress didn't refill our drinks, ask us if we would like an appetizer and just really made us feel like we needed to leave because her shift was over. Overall, it's not bad. While in Fort Smith, I decided to make a lunch run somewhere new. Normally lunch shifts can be hit and miss in places as that can be a busy time of day. Upon entering, there were groups waiting (I was not sure if they had been helped or not), and the front staff had a "the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" vibe. The gentleman that 'helped' us seemed rather upset about something, and when one of the ladies up front (in streetwear rather than restaurant staff attire) came by to help us, she was asked by this gentleman (based on his jacket, he looked like the head chef or someone in charge of the kitchen) "why are you still here?" hence my anecdote earlier about left and right hands not knowing what each other were doing. Once seated, our waiter was very friendly, polite, and attentive. This was a nice departure from the confusing experience at the front of the house. The food quality was decent, but not stellar. I do, however, recommend the chips and queso with beef added, as that was quite delicious. While not a terrible place, I will give this a pass should I be in the area again, as I was not that impressed overall. read more

This is probably become one of the worst run restaurants I have been to in a while. We have eaten here multiple times over the years they have been here. The last couple of times, the wait staff was not real informative of menu and took forever to even get drinks after being seated. Even longer to get our dinners. This last time and I do mean LAST eating here, again forever after being seated to get drinks. We was seated in the bar area (( no big deal )) the air conditioning vents on polar with hurricane force. Asked if they could shut our vent off, Mgr never responded, so when our appetizers was bought to the table ...asked again for the vent to be closed.. still nothing. Waitress Finally came back around ..asked for to go containers for our meals and she Finally brought 1...yes one small container. Terrible. Ordered the grilled salmon. The salmon was super cold and tasted like it was prepackaged and very salty. Broccoli was extremely over cooked and ice cold. My daughters chicken tenders were flavorless and made with un seasoned flour. Such a shame. read more

We were worried when we pulled in because the parking lot was packed, but we were seated anyway in about 5 minutes. The huge menu has a little of everything. We started with the onion rings. It came out as a huge pile piled high with homemade rings. They were delicious, but a few weren't cooked through. The entrees were all tasty, from the Baja chicken to the steak to the Spasagne. What a sad day at the Fort. Got to Cheddars in Fort Smith around 5:00 pm. This place is standing room only with people waiting 45 plus minutes to be seated. As we began to observe, 18 tables within our site were empty. So, let's go ask the 3 hostesses standing up front as to "why" so long of a wait when not even half the place is full. Was told they didn't want to overwhelm their cook! Seriously? Businesses are hurting so bad and here we are being told we are waiting so that we don't overwhelm a cook. Here's an ideal...take one, maybe even two, of your hostesses and cross train them to cook as well. We've been sitting here for 30 minutes now and we've watched this establishment lose 30 plus patrons. Clearly, we are not the only one's who can see empty tables and an entrance full of waiting patrons. Literally just watched two more walking out as I type. You will be blessed if your establishment lasts 5 more years. This is my 2nd bitter experience with this place. Oops, 2 more walked out the door. My 1st trip, I didn't even receive my food. Cook came out of kitchen threatening me because I was upset about not getting my food. Ok, so here I am trying it again, after a few years of a break, and once again, horrible service. I had never heard of this restaurant chain until today. We stopped at Cheddar's on the way from Hot Springs to Oklahoma City. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. We were promptly seated in a big comfy booth. Our server was great. I ordered the lunch portion of blackened salmon over rice with broccoli cheese casserole and mac & cheese. I was in the mood for some cheese! My boyfriend ordered fish tacos with green beans. My meal was very good. The salmon was somewhat overcooked, but it was spiced nicely. The sides were great. My boyfriend really enjoyed his meal, but I tasted his green beans and they were cooked to death and included sugar. I like mushy green beans, but I did not those beans at all. I took my family here for my daughter's birthday and the food was great, nice portions and the price was right and the waitress was pleasant. My Mango salsa was sour on me and my daughters Tilapia. The shrimp tasted like it was reheated. Too much seasoning on my fish as well as my daughters, and also on my sons chicken sandwich. The server we had started out good, and after we got our appetizers she stopped checking on us. We were out of drinks, and what felt like a long time she finally came with our Entrees. I had to remind her of our 3 salads that came with our meals. After receiving our salads, refills, and food she disappeared again. Stumbled upon this restraint while looking for a place to eat lunch and it has been a real good find. Had the grilled whitefish with broccoli and fries, the food tasted really good. You know when you have the food here that it's been made with real good care and attention. Even their fries tasted very fresh and not pre made as in the case with most other placed I've eaten. I've have only eaten here twice, but both dinners were good. I chose the Maple bacon grilled chicken sandwich and a side of broccoli cheese and rice. While the broccoli was okayish, the sandwich was worth the 500 or so calories (as listed on the menu). I enjoy a good craft beer with my dinner. Unfortunately, this is an area that Cheddar's was lacking in. It is fine for the "Budweiser and Busch" crowd but I like beer with a more flavor. The one real beer they had was Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Thank goodness for that. The waiter was polite and fairly attentive and there was no wait on a Wednesday night at 6:00. I enjoyed the atmosphere and I will return to try again someday. read more

The big exception that gets "best in town" rating is their tower of onion rings with delicious dipping sauces. The food was good & served to our table quickly, the Covid safety procedures were being followed by all the staff...with the exception of our waiter. He wore his mask around his neck during the entire visit, leaning over the tables of several guests when talking to them.
