I have to admit I'm a bit of a skeptic when it comes to cooking classes. As a fairly accomplished cook with a number of food restrictions, I'm always afraid I won't learn anything new or have anything to eat! Boy was I WRONG! Oh wow, I don't even know where to start. My entire experience here was simply AMAZING! Chef Alice went above & beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful time... and she totally succeeded! As we entered she had the room already set up, she was so warm & welcoming. We chose the Thai menu, and she had really nice Asian music playing softly to set the mood. She also prepared some delicious edamame. It was sooo yummy, the perfect balance of savory flavor. As we began, Chef Alice took the time to show us the basic technique to make sure we were safe during the class. This was such a nice touch! Throughout the class, Chef Alice shared so many tips, fun facts & funny tidbits. I really felt as if I have known her for years! Now... the food. Our entire group couldn't believe we made it! The food came out delicious. Restaurant quality & perfectly matched to the chosen flavor profile. I loved that Chef Alice timed our dinner perfectly so we were able to sit down & enjoy our appetizer as she added the finishing touches. Chef Alice is simply amazing! I wanted to do a cooking class for my sisters birthday but did not know where to begin. I found her on yelp, gave her a call and I'm thankful i did. From the beginning she was very informative and helpful. She knew i was not completely sure of what i wanted to do, so she talked everything out with me and help me design the perfect evening for my sister. We chose the cuisine, Thai, and she explained the appetizer, entree and dessert she would teach us how to make. The communication was very well between us, she sent a follow up email that was easy for me to forward to my friends and to ensure we were on the same page. Her prices are exceptional, definitely a great value. When we arrived she had edamame and a nice pineapple tea available for us. Aprons and name tags with all of our names on them. She made it a point to address all 10 of us by name the entire time. The meals we made were delicious and easy to follow. I learned a lot of cooking skills, tips and tricks. My boyfriend surprised me for our one year anniversary with a private cooking class with Chef Alice at her home. It was by far a wonderful experience and Chef Alice was so gracious and a great instructor. I have taken numerous classes with Chef Alice: Thai, Indian, French Bistro, Tapas, Global Appetizers/Hors'd oeuvres & Caribbean! I'm even scheduled to take the Southeast Asian next month! This is something I do as a "Girls Night Out" with my friends and we enjoy it immensely! I learn something new every time I attend; cultural tidbits from the area of study, introducing new spices into my dishes for unique flavor combinations, and proper knife skills. The class usually lasts about 3-4 hours which ends with a sit down dinner to enjoy what you've prepared. It is very fast paced, and you will be on your feet, so make sure you wear flats! The chef exhibits extreme professionalism, vast knowledge, & even a bit of humor! I work in Group Sales at a nearby resort, and recommend her to my clients for both team-building & Group Demonstrations as something they can do here as part of their stay! I have always gotten rave reviews from my customers who have brought in up to 50 people at a time to see one of her Demo's! Last night I had the pleasure of taking a Mediterranean Vegetarian cooking class with Chef Alice, and it was wonderful! The classes are held in her home, which is easy to get to, and plenty of parking. The classes are capped at some point (I assume) due to space, and in the class that I took it was five participants, including myself. When I arrived, Chef Alice had a nice appetizer already done and ready for us to enjoy, and she did explain how to make the appetizer a bit, plus she included the recipe for us to make at home. In our group there was a gentleman celebrating his birthday, and Alice had decorated the room for his birthday, which was very sweet. Once we started, the process was easy and well organized. We made a very delicious yogurt rice soup with chick peas, bulgur salad with fresh herbs and edamame, and an apricot sundae with pistachios. I loved every single thing that we made! Our dishes were flavorful, refreshing, easy to execute and had great presentation. Once our meals were fully prepared, we set the table and sat down to eat as a group. At this point of the experience we have all become friends, and it was a truly lovely experience to enjoy dinner with everyone, including Chef Alice. The conversation was very lively and positive, and we were all in awe of how delicious everything turned out. You don't realize the final dish until you see it all come together. Chef Alice also does something very nice -- she plates our dishes and serves us our food. I appreciate that personal touch! I will add that I have taken cooking lessons in the past and while her set-up is not like a traditional cooking school, I do feel that I actually learned more from my class with Chef Alice than I have in other schools. I think it's due to her personality and her desire to share tips and ideas with us. She really does go out of her way to explain everything in a way that's easy, and enjoyable. I will definitely re-create the recipes that I learned, and I will be back for more classes with Chef Alice. As much as I loved learning, and trust me, you will learn from Chef Alice, my favorite part was at the end when we all sat down for dinner, shared a glass of wine and just got to enjoy time with new friends. My boyfriend and I took the Spanish tapas cooking class on Valentine's Day with Chef Alice and she made it a romantic and unique experience. This was such a refreshing and enjoyable way to celebrate instead of going out to a crowded restaurant. As we walked in, we were greeted with a beautifully decorated Valentine's Day themed table, pleasant music playing in the background, and candles lit which really set the mood for the night. Alice had already prepped a few appetizers for us including bacon wrapped dates with chorizo, which was my absolute favorite! We joined 3 other lovely couples who were soo lively and amusing. We all laughed the night away and had fun cooking together. Throughout the class, Alice gave us many helpful tips and tricks that we can use in our everyday cooking including how to hold and use a knife properly. Our main course was pork tenderloin with salsa verde and papatas bavas and it was soo yummy and cooked to perfection, by us! It was like a meal from a fine dining restaurant but even better. Alice has a great personality and sense of humor. She makes the class entertaining while being super organized and timing everything to perfection. The Thai Cuisine Class with Chef Alice was amazing! It was such a unique and great learning experience. I am a vegetarian and she was able to accommodate all my needs even though I was part of a group class with non-vegetarians. She explained every technique and step very thoroughly. I surprised my girlfriend with a private cooking class for two with Chef Alice recently. I knew she enjoyed italian food but wanted something more unique so Chef Alice created a Islands of the Mediterrean menu for our class. The menu included an appetizer (made special from Chef Alice) Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus with homemade pita chips, a mixed greens salad with a homemade olive vinegarette with socca, Morroccan Lamb Tangine with Couscous, and a roasted pear sundae with balsamic caramel. Everything was delicious. Chef Alice's passion for cooking was noticable in the way that she thought us how to cook. From the proper techniques with knife skills, basic sautee, cleaning of vegatables, and organizational techniques around the kitchen and for your meal, she really brought the food preparation to life. Her knowledge was well rounded (check out her menu options for your event) and skills that can be seen on televison from 5 star chefs. Her sense of humor will have you laughing the entire time. Chef Alice's kitchen is amazing! From the decor and lighting to the professional appliances, this place makes you feel like you are at the studio. Chef Alice is very polite and well mannered.
