I found Joanna on AirBnB Experiences, best decision ever. I wanted to give my boyfriend a creative birthday gift, and at the end of the night he exclaimed "Best birthday ever!!" Needless to say, couldn't have asked for more. Joanna was not only quick with her replies up to the event, but allowed me to be a part of the process - from choosing the courses to offering to join her at the store to pick it all out. The day-of, she brought everything necessary, and made the process super simple for us. All we had to do was relax and have fun! She was so friendly, and made the process so enjoyable and made us both feel like cooking was actually easy! She showed us the basics ( ie knife skills) to the more in depth cooking (ie making the pasta by hand). The menu was amazing... champagne to kick it off, pinzimonio (veggies) and bruschetta as appetizers, angel hair pasta as our entree with two sauces: pesto and tomato basil, and apple crostata with whipping cream and pomegranate as dessert. It...was...delicious !!! And we had leftovers too :) I cannot wait to do another cooking class with her! Her knowledge of cooking, friendly fun vibe, and reasonable pricing made this an experience I can't wait to do again. Thank you!!

    Joanna instructing at our home

Joanna came to our home as our chef and instructor, an anniversary gift from our children. She is knowledgeable, delightful and an expert chef and teacher. She arrived promptly, with all ingredients to instruct us on preparing delicious Chinese dumplings, veggie and pork. She instructs in a positive, pleasing manner. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. She topped it off with two desserts, she created for us, Crema brûlée, hubbies fav, and lemon meringue pie, my fav. Boothfabulous.

We had a fantastic zoom training with Joanna and ended up with a fantastic dinner of paella and orange and olive oil cake.

There are only a handful of places to take private cooking classes and there were only a couple available to teach us. I found another place through this cozymeal, and they were able to find me a chef but I had no clue where we'd be (location wise - kitchen, house..). I just couldn't trust that we'd be in a location as cute as La Cuisine. So I decided to book with them since Yelp has such cute pictures of the inside.. my only worry was the very few reviews. But I took that chance and when we arrived everything looked exactly what people posted on here..but even cuter! Chef Paru & Sophia were so welcoming and per the group - they were both attentive but also giving us enough space to try on our own. Also, didn't realize my cutting technique was wrong until taking this class haha! I rarely cook, but now I know going forward! I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for great instruction and something a somewhat intimate vibes and not within a standard industrial kitchen. GF & Instagram friendly lol Thanks Chef Paru & Sophia!

Along with a few other parties learned to make a Caesar salad, steak, and chocolate soufflé. We were greeted with essentially bottomless pours of wine and a charcuterie board. It was a fun few hours of bantering with strangers and in the setting of cooking. Very low stress with simple instructions (even though I butchered the egg count, but the hosts were nice enough to give me a new bath of eggs). Meal was served thanksgiving style with plenty to go around. We were all left very full and tipsy afterwards. Would def recommend again with a group a friends. And the aesthetic is very cute!

Five days later and no contact from Pam. I was so excited to take my mister to their Father's Day class. We're empty nesters and this was meant to be a special treat for both of us. He's not big on cooking classes but the posted menu was appealing and I promised to do all the heavy lifting. Ribeye Steak -- thought we'd learn some new techniques to elevate our steak prep game. Mexican Street Corn Dip and Homemade Tater Tots -- summer corn is a family favorite and the thought of making homemade tater tots was intriguing. Smash Burger Sliders -- wanted to learn to consistently nail that crispy exterior. Inexplicably, we were paired with another pair -- a single dad with an 8 yo kid. Neither the mister nor I wanted this but we didn't want to make a scene or hurt anyone's feelings. We didn't even realize we were paired with them until the chef pointed out that our mise en place tray was setup for four. Why?? 1. The Mexican Street Corn Dip which I think was supposed to be an appetizer, was completely omitted. However, we did make a grilled corn salad as part of the meal. There was no appetizer served when we arrived. 2. Instead of homemade tater tots we made potato wedges. 3. The team we were paired with was lovely. However the class was well beyond their skill level. So instead of taking on the bulk of the work for 2 people, I did the bulk of the prep for 4 people. The course description says there may be seasonal substitutions but these substitutions utilized the same core ingredients. This was more work than I anticipated and left me feeling a bit overwhelmed and behind schedule. This threw the timing off and my mister enjoyed his steak alone while I was still standing at a hot stove prepping food for 4 people. Not the fun afternoon of "us" time I'd envisioned. Overall this was a subpar experience in so many areas that mattered to us. Left me personally disappointed and apologizing to my mister for the poor planning and execution. Could have spent the same amount of money without the hour+ drive and had a better experience.

I was there as a haircare product demonstrator to give out samples and take a count of some of the products there. They refused to give me a table. My product was close to the bottom shelf, which I counted, dusted, and then typed up a report on my phone for my business. They kindly reported me to my company for texting on my phone and sitting in the aisle. What, they expected me to kneel or lay on the floor? There were almost no customers, so you would think they had their own restocking to do instead of monitoring what I was doing. Plus it was super-dusty. I guess those bishes didn't dust? What absolute bishes. Maybe it was because smartphones were newish in 2011? I had just been at Erewhons and they were all supernice to me there. The contrast was glaring. While this was in 2011, it left a very bad taste in my mouth, so I can't support their business when they treat visitors so poorly. I probably should have immediately complained to management. So here I am complaining to Yelp 15 years later. But seriously, anywhere I go as a demonstrator, I am also a potential customer for lunch, groceries, or whatnot. So I guess it's Erewhons and Whole Foods for me.
