Chef Leslie's food is just so scrumptious, so SUBLIME - no matter what the meal is! I recently had a pork chop plate with Japanese risotto - to die for! And tonight's meal was an Omakase Bento Box - so many things in it and each one was cooked to perfection. So fun! I can't recommend Chef Leslie enough - for any and all food types, but she definitely specializes in Asian cuisine, having lived in Japan and Thailand. Man, was that tasty! The excellent mole actually transported me back to our Xmas vacation in Oaxaca years ago. What a luxury to be able to serve a meal of this quality in the comfort of your own home, especially if (like me) you're not much of a cook. It looked good and tasted good but my only complaint was that the rucola salad was too salty and sour. My boyfriend and I could not finish the salad. Seafood paella was beautifully cooked. I miss going to Japanese restaurants but frankly, it's not common to find this quality of Japanese home cooking at most Japanese restaurants. There were ingredients like lotus root and ginkgo nuts that you only see at very high end places. I placed two orders of the Omakase Bento Box for two last week. One of the porkchop for myself and the other order of tofu for a friend. I got home unpacked the boxes and plated half the Japanese mushroom risotto, asparagus ohitashi, ginger shoyu glazed porkchop and Asian pear chutney on a dinner plate, and half of the spicy greens salad of mizuna, pea sprouts, spring greens, cucumber and crispy lotus with ponzu citrus dressing, and oone of the home-smoked Alaskan King salmon & trout with wasabi creme fraiche, chives celery daikon sprouts on a crostini on to a salad plate. It was a generous portion of food and absolutely delicious! I was beyond satisfied with the dinner that I completely forgot about the mathca candied ginger shortbread cookies, but had two the following morning with some tea at work, and hadthe remaining salad and crostini for lunch. I reheated the remaining asparagus and porkchop on a dinner plate in the oven, and reheated the risotto in the stove top. Once heated, added the sauce and chutney on top of the porkchop. I have to say, I was concerned that the chop might be a bit dry, but it was as perfectly tender as the chop I had the night before. Leslie's food is a direct reflection of her talent as a chef. We needed to keep it affordable and Leslie was able to meet our needs while providing us with a great menu. About 25 people were served an elegant feast with sweet and savory matcha inspired dishes. The courses were varied in texture, flavor and tradition. My favorite was somewhere between the matcha ramen and the pickled daikon. The main course, served in bento boxes, included vegetables, an egg custard dish, ramen and other tastes of Japanese cuisine. So beautiful and fun to eat.
