The worst in the business. I ordered a Watts water filter from them. It didn't arrive for 10 days, so I called. The lady on the phone rather snotty, said it was a 3 week lead time... I then tried to cancel the order several times, by phone and by email, to no avail. We ordered a very large order and the items came in so many shipments. They don't charge you until it is shipped and it is very difficult to keep track of what items you received and were charged for. 1 box never arrived and another item was shipped direct from the mfg in which the shelf was damaged. I sent photographs of the pictures and they kept going back and forth with the mfg and saying it was a warranty issue. Other items were on back order for MONTHS. The customer service experience was terrible. They kept going back and forth and still have not resolved any issues. It is very disappointing when you are opening a new restaurant to have a company like this. We will never order anything from them again. I would never recommend to buy from Katom. They sold me a TRUE beer cooler that broke immediately. Upon calling them, they said that I bought a commercial unit and it went into my house. Also charged me on credit card, and then tried to scam me into sending them additional wire transfers, when the items were paid in full. And they almost kept $7000 of our money until we called our credit card company and they honored our dispute. We strongly do not recommend buying from this company. After waiting 3 months for a stainless steel sink from Webstaurant store and the shipping date getting pushed farther & farther out, I canceled and called Katom's to be sure the one I found was in stock. He told me it was and would ship the next day. He checked to see how much shipping was and quoted $165 for shipping on the sink. I ordered it on the phone and also ordered a fryer that had free shipping. The next day I got an email saying the sink would not ship for a month and a half (not next day like I was told). I called and canceled the sink but the fryer had already been charged out which was fine but they also charged out $190 shipping cost plus taxes on the shipping. They not only charged out the shipping with the fryer but charged more for shipping that what he told me. I have made 3 calls and they are supposedly going to credit me $205.59 that I was overcharged for on the fryer. I guess time will tell if I get my refund. It's just crazy that they charged the shipping on my fryer charge and didn't wait until the sink was charged out and charge it then. This is a horrible way to do business. After 10 days I was only told it was on an backorder, thats only after calling and emailing. Than Katom extended the backorder another 30 days. This company is not reliable and very much illegitimate. They list many products on their website that they do not physically carry and therefore you are at the whim of their customer service. If you call too often they transfer you to a voicemail system and stop answering with a human. I was forced to dispute the charge. Not a good company to deal with. I wish there was a zero, because one star is so undeserving of this company. They don't provide order status, after the receptionist answers your call, you get sent to an automated system. From there, you advance nowhere. I placed a small order for $51 on April 12 and used PayPal as the payment method. I received a confirmation of order the next day and my credit card was charged as well on that day. After 10 days I realized I had not heard from them, so I decided to cancel the order and emailed them my request. Another 13 days went by and no news from them, so I emailed them again to no avail. I contacted PayPal to start a claim, but they suggested I contacted the supplier first and warned me I only had 7 days otherwise I would never get my money back from PayPal because the case would be considered close, and so I did, but again there was no reply from KaTom. I called them this morning around 7:30 am and was left on hold by their automated system for 30 minutes, after which I was abruptly sent to voicemail. I finally got a hold of a real person who said my order was on the refund queue but that they usually do this once a week. I asked for a supervisor, instead the lady talked to the person who issues refunds and came back to tell me the refund person wasn't available but had said she would refund my money today. I was warned that it would take about 3-4 days to get my refund because PayPal puts a hold on the funds for 3 days or so. A $51 dollar order, for an item that now is discontinued on their website, but they didn't have the courtesy to let me know, instead they ignored my calls and emails and kept my money. I will escalate the issue with PayPal this afternoon. I don't want to risk it. Perhaps $51 isn't a lot, but it's a matter of principle, integrity, and this organization does not seem to know what that is. NEVER AGAIN!! read more

It was completely defective and does not work (seals are bad). Waring has discontinued production or this unit due to manufacturing/part problems. I guess Katom sells what is in stock anyway. Katom said they require a $25 restocking fee and that I pay the postage (on a $60 unit) and they would 'consider' refunding the remaining balance!. read more

After placing an order online with clear instructions to contact me if my order, placed on a Monday morning, wasn't going to be shipped that day, they waited until Wednesday afternoon to inform me that the items I ordered were not in stock and would not ship for 10-14 days. This was time sensitive and I needed to know for my clients sake. Upon voicing my frustrations with customer service, and explaining that I would now have to order from somewhere else and use 2nd day air which cost me $170.00, they could have cared less. They offered no type of compensation through three ranks of command. Hideous way to run a business. If I drop the ball with my customers, I make it up to them and own my mistake. Ka-Tom was easy to order from. They followed up with e-mail as to confirmation of the order and when the order shipped and when it was delivered. Upon delivery, we realized we needed a larger size and wanted to return and purchase the next size up. Ka-Tom sent me return instructions, but did not mention that I would have to pay the shipping to return the product. I was told that it was my fault that we ordered the wrong thing and it is not their responsibility and will not pay to return the items. I purchase on line often - personally and for my company and I have NEVER EVER had to pay to return an item. I will never use this company again for any of our equipment needs. Please be double sure you order the correct size and read the fine print. Otherwise you will end up paying to ship both ways if you decide to return. I purchased a hand sanitizer dispenser and was shipped to my store. I sent my son to do the installation and put the sanitizer which I also stupidly purchased from them in. I later went in and found out first, that they sent me a completely different dispenser than the one that I ordered. Second, it dispense too much and we can not adjust the amount. I tried to process a return online but there's no record of my purchase. So I called. I bought a heat resistant pair of gloves made of very thick material and I wanted to return them because they are too big, on their website, it says the gloves are one size, but these gloves are XXL which shouldn't be classified as one size. The customer service manager said, they wouldn't take the gloves because they have been used, how ridiculous, I only tried one glove and these gloves are not disposable and could be easily sanitized, the gloves are made of very thick material, I returned some shirts at Dick's Sporting goods and they had no problem accepting shirts for return, how can these gloves not be returned when they are made of a material that's totally "sanitizable". I paid $30 for these gloves and the customer service manager was very defiant refusing the return, I told her to escalate the issue to her boss and she said, she's the manager, but she has no business handling customer service issues because she's ineffective and cannot relate to her customers. read more

On Friday August 9, 2019, I bought a convection oven from Katom Restaurant Supply, Inc. after Alex, the agent, told me it met NY OSHA standards. I needed the oven on Monday 8/12. He said it would arrive by Wednesday August 14 the latest. I made it clear to Alex that we are opening a restaurant and urgently needed the oven hooked up for our gas inspection. When I called to trace the order, I got a new delivery date of 8/19/19. I wanted to confirm the oven had the right codes to pass NY inspection. That's when I learned no one at Katom had that information. No one knew, and they were very casual about it and the cancellation fee they threatened me with. I was also told I couldn't return the oven if it failed inspection. What was I to do? I had to cancel the purchase, which I did before delivery was confirmed. Sales people are usually well informed about the product they sell. That wasn't the case here. That customer service failure, caused inspection to be delayed by a week and Katom also charged me $859 out of $2,144. This amount is problably more than what the oven cost them. For me it's a fortune. It takes me more than a year to save that much money. Katom has been in existence for over 30 years. How come they are not better informed about the products they are selling? There's no incentive if they can charge unsatisfied customers a fortune for bad sells and cancellations. That business practice is predatory and irresponsible. read more
