The food is hit and miss, the nights that it's good it is well worth the price. Delivery is really fast. Only two complaints. First if you call in expect to be put on hold for ten minutes or longer, one night I had to call back 3 times because I kept getting hung up on. Second is the chow mein, not an expert in the Asian languages but I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be stir fried noodles. Ordered it once and received a repulsive bowl of sprouts and cabbage. The owner argued with me about it and would not replace my dish even though I did not want it. Overall this place is ok and since there is a lack of competition in the area we don't have much of a choice of where to go for Chinese food. read more

This place used to be the very best Chinese in Gainesville, but not any more. I ordered takeout and picked up Tangerine Beef and Kung Pao Chicken. I arrived just as my order was ready and sat down to eat within 10 minutes as I live nearby. The Tangerine Beef was one big glob -- soggy, gummy, and stuck together with whatever-(flower?)-they-use-to-coat-the-beef. It's supposed to be a little crispy but this was just gooey. There was very little flavor. The Kung Pao Chicken was just soupy and bland. They included two egg rolls which were greasy and tasted like cardboard. I ate a little of the beef and just threw the rest of my order in the garbage -- wasting $22. Wang's may be better if you eat there, but from the other reviews, not likely. read more

The chicken was fresh and delicious, the rice was great, the crab rangoon was yummy. Had General Tso's and Orange Chicken with two sides of fried rice, egg rolls, and a side of crab rangoon for about $21. That's a pretty good lunch special, I'll be back! read more

...been going for years. They are consistent and the food is always fresh and hot. I remember larger portions before the economic decline, but I have no complaint about food or service. My family really loves the beef lo mein. I like mine spicy and they add that for me every time. We always seem to go late, but the waitress never seems to mind. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed with a meal. The vegetables were raw and the dish (chicken and walnuts) was swimming in grease. Another member of our party never got their soup and we had to chase someone down to get duck sauce and mustard. What's happened to this place? It used to serve some of the best Chinese food in town. I have come to Chef's for lunch at least 25-30 times and it's always fast and delicious. Lunch portions are excellent including soup, entree and egg roll for $6ish. I especially love the Hunan Chicken. Enjoy!! read more

Our office ordered food from there and we were not at all satisfied with the quality of the food. Two of us got the General Tso's chicken it was hard, mushy and tasted days old. Needless to say, we will be not returning here. Wang's off of McEver Rd and Mundy Mill is WAY better and tastes super fresh. They just were not open on Mondays. read more

Cindy B. I ordered Happy Family paid $5 extra for scallops,ordered soup for 2 and picked up to share with a friend for our Friday night meal after work . My bill total was $23.57 which was pricey for take out. Got home only to find the Happy Family had only 2 shrimp, 2 small pieces of scallops ($5 worth I don't think so) mostly fatty pork, no chicken at all. Very disappointing. I called the restaurant to explain my frustration only to be told of their high cost of preparing the meal. I'm still thinking of disputing the credit card charge, but I will never use their services again. You should think twice too. read more

Me and 5 other co-workers ordered a large order from here. When everything was delivered we noticed we were missing an order of Crab Rangoon. I called the restaurant and explained everything expecting a little courtesy. I told the man that we would really like for it to be brought back to the office since this was a lunch order. He stated he would note to credit the account. I told him we really just wanted to have it for today's meal and he stated "I'm not bringing it back, that is a complimentary item. You can come pick it up." I told him I didn't have time as it is my lunch break. He then stated "You just won't have it." I told him he would lose us as a customer and he stated........."Ok". Just seems like I could have been given a little courtesy considering he admitted it was his mistake. read more

Good place in Gainesville for Chinese food. Generally the food is quite good although it can be inconsistent....but I think you find that anywhere. I've always had good service. They are not overly solicitous but are on top of refilling drinks and attending to needed items when asked. The main difference is that an item that is on both the lunch and dinner menu might be different at lunch. I usually order Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. The shrimp at lunch are super tiny and most likely canned. The shrimp in this dish when ordering from the dinner menu are large and taste fresh. I do get the difference but was a bit of a surprise. The iced tea here is great-on par with Chick-fil-A.....really and truly. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service! The owner was unbelievably rude and hateful when taking our order and when I asked what my total was so I could pay with my debit card he refused to tell me. I will NEVER be eating at Chef Wang's again due to the disrespectful way we were treated! If you want to be treated like you are a bother and in the way then this is the place for you. read more
