My husband and I dined at this restaurant for Valentine's Day! My babe was so kind to make reservations about a week and a half in advance and we were able to book Valentine's Day exactly at 5:30 p.m. Kudos to my husband! We arrived about 15 minutes early and parked across the street in the parking lot...once we walked into the building we checked to make sure that it was okay to park in the area since the restaurant doesn't have its own parking lot, even though Street parking is available... parking across the street ...it's about 30 spaces so if you're lucky to get a space there then you're good. The restaurant itself is not big inside... actually probably seats maybe 50 people maybe 60 but the food was a 10 out of 10! My husband dined there with coworkers about 6 months ago and he just raved about it on and on and on so I had to check it out for myself and I was not disappointed at all. Our waitress K was on point! I ordered about two or three different drinks...all of the cocktails were yum! My babe normally sticks to his cocktail of Crown Royal regular with a splash of sprite...all good! Our meals: I ordered the filet medium and it came with I believe broccolini and mashed potatoes and my husband did the surf and turf which was also the filet and he had that medium rare and I believe he had asparagus with his a lobster tail and one other side and he also ordered a side of dirty rice and ask for crab meat to be placed on top of it. Everything came out in a timely manner... just so good!! This place definitely is reservations only they do have a bar top which seats about six people and on this night in particular 6 people at the bar were super tight so definitely book a reservation for a table. I believe they are closed on Mondays definitely check the website to be 100% sure but I recommend recommend recommend can't wait to dine in again! Have fun and enjoy life :)
Recommended by a friend so that we could catch up, this establishment is great for solo dining, date night and groups with proper coordination. Parking is available across the street and when weather permits, they have a gated outdoor area for dining. We made reservations, but walk ins are welcome depending on the size of your group. When in doubt, make the reservation. The decor is nice, lighting is dim and friendly staff. The menu isn't extensive but it had a lot of options for various diets. I began with a French 75 and it was prepared to my liking. For an appetizer, we split the salmon egg rolls. Depending on how hungry you are, this was enough for 2-3 people to share and a bit heavier if you aren't that hungry for an entree. My entree of the shorty short ribs came with pureed sweet potato and bok choy. Here's where the star was lost. When eating the bok choy, it was gritty as though it hadn't been washed properly. It gave that same apprehension when you bite down on an eggshell. Nice presentation and flavor and I ended up eating the other half the next day. It reheated well but there was no getting past that sandy texture of the bok choy. It was giving dirty greens vibes. There was a small wait for our food given the amount of patrons at the time. We didn't care as we were chatting and catching up. Our server had plenty of personality and made sure to check on us. An overall four star experience and I would dine here again.
Jan. 30th. O. M. G. This was absolutely one of the best experiences I've had since moving to Norfolk hands down. The level of attentiveness and service was a solid 10/10. I didn't have to beg for water. I didn't have to stare at an empty cocktail glass waiting to be asked if I wanted another. I didn't have to sit with dirty dishes lingering on the table. From the moment we walked in, the hostess and waitstaff were incredibly friendly, kind, and oh-so polite,which is rare these days! Kudos, and please keep up this level of service. The drinks were amazing. We ordered the happy hour wings, fried calamari, and garlic Parmesan fries. My only complaint is that the calamari was a bit too tiny for my liking, but the flavor and breading were absolutely spot-on. The wings were perfectly portioned for two to share. I met a friend here for happy hour, and we're already plotting our return between how good the happy hour food was and how incredible the dishes at the table next to us looked, we were sold. I'm excited... sign me up! The ambience is very grown and sexy, intimate, and yet inviting. This is definitely a place where you want to dress to impress. The décor is simple but intentional, blending seamlessly into the vibe and allowing the focus to stay on meaningful conversation with someone across the table that you genuinely enjoy talking to. Love that for them.
Over Thanksgiving weekend, we decided to stop in to Chef's Kitchen & Cocktails for date night. I made reservations online for 7pm, to be sure we were able to be seated as soon as we arrived. Unfortunately, parking was a bit of a hassle. We weren't able to find street parking so we found a spot in a parking lot nearby. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were seated right away. The restaurant is much smaller than I expected. There's between 8-10 tables in the main dining area, some high top seating and a few tables in the bar area so it's definitely a smaller spot. Our server, Kaé, was amazing! He poured us some waters and gave us time to look over the menu. We started with the Billionaire Bourbon cocktail and the Mystery Margarita. I'm not sure what was in the margarita (hence the name lol) but it was great! We also ordered the Colley Calamari Bruschetta and the Citrus Fried Lobster Bites for starters. I loved the light and crispy batter on the seafood but wish it was seasoned a bit more; however, they were fried perfectly! The lobster bites were delicious!!! For our entrees, we decided on the Chef's Lamb Lollipops and the Fried Snapper. The lamb chops were a 10/10! We ordered them "Medium" and they were cooked perfectly and tasted great. They were served with mashed potatoes but they definitely could've used some help lol! I wasn't a huge fan of the Fried Snapper. It was good, but just a tad bit dry. I wish it had a little more sauce drizzled on top. I did enjoy the dirty rice and the plantains, even the house salad with the vinaigrette was good. Overall, between the ambiance, the service and the food, we definitely enjoyed ourselves. By the time we left, it was packed. If you're in the area, definitely stop in and check the out.
My friend and I dined at Chefs Kitchen and Cocktails on a Saturday night. We made reservations and was running about 5 mins late. Even with the tardy we were seated promptly. The layout is a bit odd but they make it work. They have like a dining room where the bar is and there's I'm thinking like 10 maybe a little more tables there. Then there's like a corridor (that's what it feels like) that has a row of tables set up, if you're seated in the row you're definitely close to other patrons. Not my favorite set up but not unbearable either. The server greeted us, told us about the menu and gave us time to look it over. I ended up ordering the salmon egg rolls, grilled mango salad , house wings and a lychee martini. The salmon egg rolls were okay. I found them to be a bit on the salty side. The grilled mango salad was fresh and delicious. You have the choice of adding a protein but because I got a side of wings I didn't. The house wings were good. My only gripe is that there were huge. Some people like jumbo wings, but to me they just feel genetically modified on sight. As a result I ate maybe 1.5 of the wings. Great flavor and I loved the sauce I just couldn't get pass the size. The lychee martini was perfect. I did get the fried banana pudding for dessert and I didn't like it. Overall, good dining experience. I would return for the lychee martini and to try some other menu items.
I've been to this place twice , and let's say both experiences were really good. The ambiance and great. A little small, but they made the space very cute and cozy. However, if you plan to wear heels, be careful because their floor can be a little slippery. The service was also great. Both waitresses I had were nice, friendly, and were able to answer all of our questions. The drinks were good. Good presentation, nice flavors, and awesome variety. I do want to mention though, if you don't like a drink and you ask for a new one, you will still have to pay for it. The food was really good. We tried the salmon bites as an appetizer both times. We tried it both ways - fried and grilled, grilled is the way to go. The first time I ordered the red snapper, and let's say that dish is SO GOOD! If you don't mind bone if your fish, order this dish. The rice, the sauce, the plantains... all go great with the fried fish. The second time I went, I tried the jerk pasta. Let's just say it wasn't as good as the fish, hence the star off. The shrimp was really good and big but the pasta was really salty. Overall, try this place out for your next date night or girls night.
I love the vibes at this restaurant. I came here with a friend on a busy weekend and the customer service was great. We arrived earlier than our reservation and were able sit at the bar for a short wait. I highly recommend making reservations as it's a small restaurant. Once seated, our waiter was great. I ordered the blackened salmon with the Brussels and sweet potatoes. 10/10 My friend ordered the jerk pasta with chicken and the spicy level is up there! Definitely jerk seasoning!! So if you like spice , this is for you!! A great spot for date night and small groups. I'll be back soon!!'
Me and some girlfriends went for dinner after work. The food was actually very good. The portion sizes were phenomenal. Nothing was too small like this place was very aesthetically pleasing, but I was really happy to see that my waitress was thoughtful. She checked in she boxed up our food like she was really really attentive, but not overbearing love that about her. The bartender that made our drinks did his thing as they were absolutely delicious.
4 of us dined Friday night at Chef's Kitchen for our first time. We were all impressed by every aspect of the evening, including ambiance, service and the food. We have enjoyed all of the area's top restaurants and Chef's Kitchen is right up there, we certainly recommend it. The food was executed flawlessly and presentation was strong. We're blessed to have found a new place and we'll be back!
Chef's Kitchen has a moody, intimate ambiance that makes it great for a date night, though it does blend upscale dining with a slight sports bar vibe, thanks to the bar and TVs. Just a heads-up--there is a dress code, which caught me off guard. I had to zip up my jacket, which felt a little unnecessary given the setting, but no big deal. For food, I ordered the blackened salmon and the Shorty's short rib, while my husband tried the lychee martini. The portions are definitely on the smaller side, but everything was well-seasoned. The blackened salmon had good flavor, and the short rib was tender and enjoyable. My husband really liked the lychee martini--it was refreshing and well-made. Overall, the experience was good, just not mind-blowing. The service was okay, nothing particularly memorable. While nothing stood out enough to make me rush back, it's a solid spot if you're looking for a chill night out with decent food in a stylish atmosphere.
Oh. My. Goodness. I have heard about this place from several people but finally going it lived it up to the hype. I had the oxtail lasagna which I still dream about today, I went with family and every left nothing on their plate! I will say the vibes here have a great night life feel if you wanted to bring a date. The cocktail list is amazing. I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could.

I stopped by Chef's Kitchen & Cocktails on a Saturday around 6:30 p.m. and was surprised it wasn't very busy. I was dining solo and was seated immediately. First things first: the entire front-of-house staff was stunning. Everyone looked polished, well put together, and genuinely welcoming. For drinks, I ordered the Berry Bliss Mojito and the Blackberry Mule. The mojito was excellent, refreshing, balanced, and easily my favorite of the two. The Blackberry Mule leaned a little too sweet for my taste. One thing I really appreciated, though, is that they appear to take their cocktail program seriously. Their margarita is made the way I like to see it: tequila, Cointreau, and fresh lime, with any additional flavors complementing the drink instead of masking it with a bunch of cheap mixers. For food, I had the Chef's Bisque and the Oxtail Lasagna. Everything was outstanding. The lasagna isn't what you might expect. It isn't layered in the traditional way. Instead, it's made into pinwheel-style rolls, which was a nice presentation. The sauce absolutely stole the show. It was rich, flavorful, and tasted like someone in the kitchen genuinely cares about what they're serving. Joy was my server, and she truly lived up to her name. She was attentive, friendly, polite, and had a genuine smile the entire time. Empty dishes disappeared quickly without interrupting the meal, and the service felt effortless. A couple of things to know before you go: there's an automatic 20% gratuity added to every check, not just large parties. There's also a dress code, so I'd skip the sweatpants and distressed jeans. Lastly, this is an adults-only establishment, which I thought was a nice touch for anyone looking for a quieter dining experience. Overall, this was a fantastic experience. Small but mighty, this corner spot offers intimate spaces throughout that make the experience feel cozy and elevated. The portions are generous and definitely justify the higher price point. From the cocktail menu always order the Purple Rain Drop . As a crispy, baked mac and cheese lover, the seafood mac was on point. And the oxtail lasagna? Not what you'd expect in the best way. Think rich, elevated ravioli-style sauce layered with flaky, crescent-like pasta and tender oxtail. I may have been also eyeing the rasta pasta and crab fried rice a table over. read more

chefs kitchen and cocktails is an intimate dining experience with a tempting menu and specialty craft cocktails; you are in for a culinary treat! Located on Colley Avenue in Norfolk, VA, you are transported to an eclectic establishment; with unique artwork, plush seats, and hanging greenery. I made reservations for dinner, so I was seated immediately. Our server was knowledgeable about the food and cocktail menus, providing various suggestions. We ordered the Calamari Bruschetta, Chef's Popcorn Shrimp, House Wings, and Rack of Lamb. Of course, I had to be a little extra and Oscar-style, my rack of lamb. All I can say is every dish was exquisite! The rack of lambs is a hitter; tender, seasoned, sauces crazy! For my cocktails, I ordered the Lemon Basil Mojito, On The Run Margarita, and Purple Rain Drop. Every single drink was mixed perfectly, but my favorite was the margarita! This place is radiate black luxury! There is beautiful artwork along the walls and it gives a nice intimate vibe. I love the greenery as well as the couch! Great for pictures! Our server was amazing! She boxed our food at the end of our service and made the birthday girl feel special! I ordered the seafood Mac and cheese as a side and they give it as a meal. I wish that was disclosed. Since that's how it's labeled on their menu. But other than that. A great place to dine in the area read more
I have been to chef's kitchen about 3 times and I can honestly say their food is as good as it was the first time I tried it. Here's a list of everything I've tried: Popcorn shrimp, Salmon bites, salmon eggrolls, seafood mac, jerk pasta, house wings, shortys short rib, rack of lamb, and filet mignon. Everything was AMAZING !!!! The service is always good, the music is definitely a vibe, and the drinks make you want to order more. Tuesdays they have Tequila Tuesday and they will not disappoint. read more

From the moment we walked in from the hostess to the entrees we fully enjoyed our experience. 10/10 is truly a understatement! The food here was nothing short of amazing. We went here for my boyfriend's mom's birthday dinner. We started the night off with some drinks & the king of the night had to be the lavender purple drink ! If you're looking for a drink that is sweet & smooth, would definitely recommend it. For appetizers the star of the night was the lobster bites, that come with an orange sauce that went well on the calamari as well. The waiter knew the menu really well & all of his recommendations were great ! Everyone loved their food, and the portions are so large. The dress code is business causal & it definitely matches the vibe of the restaurant. They played R&B songs but with jazz, we enjoyed guessing which song was being played. To end the night the most unique but delicious dessert I have ever had was the fried banana pudding all I can say is WOWWWWWW! And I'm not even a dessert person. (Ps. They do a little something special on the dessert for birthdays) Will we be back? HECK YEA ! And the best part about it all, it is Black Owned ! TEN OUT OF TEN. First time trying this place and it did not disappoint . For the best experience make a reservation. Perfect for a date night. The ambiance is very intimate and cozy. Let's start with the service . Everyone was polite and on top of their game, knew the menu and answered questions with i knowledge. We got the fried lobster bites for the table . Sheeeesh, AMAZING. The flavor was succulent and the lobster was delicious. I ordered the short ribs and my lady ordered the lamb chops. I don't know what to say everything was perfect. I also ordered a side of the Brussels sprouts and again they were delicious . For drinks i got the blackberry mule and my lady ordered the mystery margarita . Both drinks did what they were supposed to do. This place is what service is supposed to look and feel like. Shout out to the chefs and service staff , we will most definitely be returning. 10/10. I enjoyed this meal very much! The salmon eggrolls were my fav, they were super flavorful and crispy. My lychee martini was very good. However, I ordered Prosecco to mix with it. I didn't really enjoy the banana pudding but it wasn't nasty at all, just not for me. The ambience was nice but it was extremely tight borderline too tight. My husband and I decided to check out this restaurant for an anniversary dinner. The first thing I will speak on is the food. The food was amazing. We had the salmon bites as an appetizer. We got them grilled, and they were perfect temperature and very flavorful. For entrees, we got the surf N turf and the short rib. Both of the entrees were amazing and cooked well with great portion sizes. We had a reservation, and when we got there, we sat immediately. However, it took over 10 minutes before being greeted, brought waters, etc. We had multiple staff members walk by us in this period of time. We had to stop 1 of the servers & let them know we'd been waiting. NOW, with that being said, after that hiccup, the service was phenomenal, and our server was very apologetic and also gave us a free dessert to go. No establishment is perfect, but whats important is owning and rectifying the issue and they did which is why they still received 4 stars for service, and we will definitely be back. Ambiance - A nice chill date spot. Very intimate with your partner & play great music. Service - Great Server, got everything we ordered correctly. One of the reason I gave a lower star because you cannot modify anything on the menu. If you don't like a side that it comes with you cannot switch out with anything else. Food- presentation is on point and big porpotion. The Mac and cheese can serve a table of 4. It's super big. The lamb chops were $60 a plate but the taste wasn't worth the $60. The lamb was under seasoned but the vegetables were great. Chicken wings are a winner and super crispy. Overall I would come back but not a place I would crave. For 2 people and 4 drinks our total was over $200. So prepare to spend a pretty penny for the ambiance and the vibe of the restaurant not so much the flavor. Great concept ! read more

When it comes to Chefs kitchen and Cocktails ... What can I sayyy, what can I say? Immaculate service amazing food beautiful ambiance full portions ughhhh can you find a more perfect restaurant. This place was a 10/10 must check out place. I came here for happy hour with my coworkers and left with no complaints. I would definitely come here again! read more
I love this place it's such a vibe! Small, intimate setting for a date night or girls night. I come here probably twice a month to get my "fix" ! My go to is the salmon Rasta pasta which is so special and consistent which is important for me to be a returning client to an establishment but this particular time I tried a new menu item, the crab fried rice and added shrimp. It came with all the special garnishes and some sauce I want to say it may be close to a yum yum sauce which is not my personal favorite but it was still good without it. The cocktails here are sure enough crafted well and taste great my personal favorite is the lavender lemon drop. I've always had a great service experience here also, from the front door to the bar to the waitress or waiter assisting me. I will say this restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and the music is great but the seating becomes uncomfortable after a while. This restaurant does have a suggested attire so put on your after 5 attire and go and try for yourselves. 10/10 highly recommend! read more

Visited for the first time and will definitely be back! The restaurant is small with an intimate vibe. Loved the decor! There is also an outside area that I would love to try out in the late evening/night time. We tried the oxtail lasagna and fried snapper! Both excellent. We had the citrus fried lobster as an appetizer, and it was ok. It wasn't seasoned all that well. We tried the mystery margarita and rosemary sidecar cocktails! Both very good, and the margarita sneaks up on you. Our service was very nice and made great recommendations. He was very attentive. Our food came out quick but was still very fresh! read more

Amazing experience!! Definitely a 10/10 for me. The service was awesome, nice, clean and small restaurant. The food comes in huge portions and everything was delicious. Only thing I didn't care for is that the tables are so close you literally have to whisper for the next table not to hear your conversation. But I will definitely go back. read more
I had an amazing dinner here! We made reservations for 4 and sat at a cute intimate table. From the music, to our wonderful server, to the amazing food, I just cannot say enough about this gem in downtown Norfolk. We started off with appetizers and cocktails. The salmon bites were cooked perfectly and the shrimp cocktail were huge! The Purple Rain Drop was a great cocktail choice. I'm not a fan of spicy, so I didn't try the Jerk Pasta which sounds amazing. But I have absolutely no complaints about the Blackened Salmon! It was paired perfectly with sweet potato and Brussel sprouts. Now as a seafood lover, I couldn't wait to taste my husband's entree: Seafood Mac. Not only was it absolutely delicious, it was plentiful. That will be my choice when we return. 5 STARS! Our server was amazing (I think her name was Kayla). The music was complimentary of the ambient setting, and the food and drink was flavorful and filling. We will be back! read more
The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing. So calm. Darker, but not super dark to the point you can't see. I loved the music! The restaurant is very small though, so I would recommend a reservation. Chefs Kitchen and Cocktails is a trendy, intimate spot on Colley Ave. The decor is eclectic and nice, with nice art on the walls, and decor on the ceiling. It's cozy, which also means tight. We had a reservation for 4 (recommend making a reservation) and was sat at a table that was barley large enough, and quite close to the party dining next to us. This isn't bad, we just wish we had a little extra room. The ambiance is amazing. Great music is playing loud enough to hear, but also low enough for it not to get in the way of conversation. The food was 5 stars. I had the Salmon bites, steak fries as appetizers. The bites were good, and you can get them grilled or fried. The grilled bites were good, but I suspect the fried ones would be better. I was initially feeling as though something was missing, and once I found the sauce, I realized, I just needed a little bit more, as the sauce beings the app together. The Steak fries were awesome, very tasty and well out together. Both appps were so good, I almost forgot to take pics :) For my Main I had the Rack of lamb, which was paired with Asparagus and Creamy Mashed Potatoes. It all was cooked perfectly and was a really good and filling meal. The other members of the party all enjoyed their dishes also. The cocktails were good, but small. I would have enjoyed a larger portion, especially given the prices. For a place with "cocktails" in the name I was expecting a larger cocktail selection, and bar selection. I think if they were able to expand their capacity at the bar, then this would no doubt be a solod 5-star joint. I highly recommend you check this place out! the current 4.5 star rating is accurate, that's what I'd give it if able. read more
