Went there for our grandson's birthday. Six of us. Service was vey good. I ordered the wild boar ragu - it was okay but not worth the price, mostly large, long strips of pasta, not much meat. Ordered small round bread to split while waiting for meal - not worth the $12 charge. Place was very noisy, about 6:30 Tuesday, loud bass (boom boom) in background. Not the place to have a good conversation. Not happy when we got the bill: had 2 totals: one for cash and the other for non-cash. First time we have been in a restaurant that charges for credit card use. Did not notice any alert on menu. Overall, overpriced! Will not be back. read more

As much as I enjoy going to this place, so much so that l even considered applying for a job at this location, but I'm starting to lose some of the love I have for it. And it's mainly the service. I'm not saying that I'm a regular but I'm there often enough to know the bar staff and some wait staff by name. My last couple visit just left an uneasy feeling in my spirit. The bar staff definitely have their favorite customers and they make it very obvious. Very chatty, complimentary tastings, prompt service, etc. And on more than one occasion I felt like I was being a bother to them or just being simply over looked. We snuck in a nice date night at Luce in Norfolk and had the best meal and experience, tonight we figured we would try the one in Chesapeake. Absolutely totally different experience . The service was a literal 1/10. Almost 30 minutes after taking our drink order, they then came back and took our food order. The energy of the waitstaff was crazy. We had to ask for silverware; salt, pepper, cheese. The place was dead for a Friday evening and service was non existent I even had to question where our left overs were. For the price point ,chick fil-a has yall beat on service all day. We literally had to ask for wine glasses for our wine. I wouldn't recommend Chesapeake location, we would go back to Norfolk, just tough to get a table there ! read more

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the 757! We even like it better than the original Luce in Norfolk. We have sat both inside and outside (patio). You get a lot more attention inside from the wait staff but it's freezing in there. The two times we've sat outside, we've had to wait a good 10 minutes before our water came, but the food definitely made up for it. I recommend their seafood dishes. The first time there I got the aragosta de cognac. The sauce was amazing but I wish there was more lobsterOur second time there I had the spaghetti seafood. The shrimp was large and delicious. My fiancée and I came here on a Saturday. We really enjoyed the cocktails and the service. The food was great. I got veal saltimbocca and she got a chicken dish. For table we ordered pasta. Rating our visit 5 stars as I have no complaints. We entered through the door in the parking garage and walked up to the hostess stand where we were greeted and sat immediately. Our server was also quick to greet us. The restaurant had a sommelier on staff that night which was nice to help us pick out some wine to drink. We ordered the charred octopus appetizer, which was excellent. It was cooked to perfection and the glaze added a nice sweetness. For entrees we had the boar ragú and the sotto scallops. Both entrees were also excellent and cooked to perfection. The portions were also a fair size for the quality and price of the items. This was the chosen a restaurant for my brother's 49th birthday. Our server Isaac goes by Izze. The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and very polite, very truthful. We had several appetizers, calamari, muscles, and a charcuterie board. They all were delicious. Just wondered why we weren't getting any type of bread that you get with most Italian restaurants to find we had to order bread it was $12 no thank you but needless to say we had chicken with lemon a seafood pasta and seafood Melody in a broth and pasta with lemon and shrimp. It was a great place to sit with family and laugh and joke. The band was nice the desserts the three we try were delicious but the cheesecake could've been a little bit bigger and the chocolate cake slice could've been a little bit thicker overall we enjoyed our time there just wish the prices and the food matched. I understand food is expensive but $32 for a bowl of pasta with a few shrimp in it, and a couple of muscles was not good business going to try the one in Norfolk. First time dining here and won't be our last thanks to Tanner. He did an awesome job recommending drinks and food since it was our first time dining here and we were indecisive. I loved the Charcuterie, but my wife wished it included more fruits. The Bistecca alla Luce(22oz dry aged ribeye) was delicious. This was an exceptional dining experience! I ordered of the special menu and had Gamberi Calamari Fra Diavolo which was shrimp and calamari in a spicy sauce over capellini pasta. There was plenty of shrimp and calamari, with a middle of the road spicy sauce. While it was fine with me, my wife felt it was really on the edge for her. My wife had the Tortellini ala Panna which was also on the special menu. This was tortellini with onions, mushrooms, and peas in an Alfredo sauce. She felt it was wonderful. For dessert we had the Olive Oil Grand Marnier Cake, and this should come with a warning. We shared it and I'd find it very tough to see someone eating the entire dessert at one sitting. At the table the waiter poured olive oil over it before we ate. Service was also impeccable and everyone was at the top of their game. We were there on a night it was late and kind of empty. But I could see this place packed on a weekend. The inside was quite open a clearly a newer restaurant. They also have a huge wine cellar if that's to your liking. I was overall disappointed after visiting this much hyped spot. The great: the decor and ambiance was terrific. While feeling a bit try hard, there's no denying it's gorgeous inside and a great overall vibe and location. The not great: the waiter introduced himself as being the best, which was fine until the entire service seemed to be more about him than us. During a 2 hour service (which was much too long) he let us sit waiting for food without a visit and a chat about the hour wait after ordering. When runners brought our app and main course, they were basically disinterested in any level of service commensurate with the vibe and expectation. While not rude, there's was a lack of....pleasant caring. They couldn't be bothered. For a scratch kitchen, the food was underwhelming. The pasta was overcooked, the sauce for the buffalo based sauce on their signature dish lacked depth of flavor, and the meat topper was dry after it was clearly shoved into the broiler to brown. Both dishes sauces were too tight. I will say the pricing was very good! I did expect to pay more for the experience walking in. But after the mediocre food, that was at least a soft landing. We walked in to Luce Secondo for a late evening meal, knowing we'd have to wait a little bit, but willing to do so at the bar. It has quite a nice bar with a small section of comfortable seating being the high seats at the actual bar. The drinks were good, mixed well, and the service at the bar was good. They also have a decent Bourbon list. We weren't at the bar for too long and we're seated with 20 or so minutes. The ambience in the whole place is lively and classy, very well decorated. From the bar, the dining area, the view of the kitchen, and even the bathrooms; it's a very nice place. The food was great too, we ordered two items from the specials from that night. Unfortunately I don't remember what they were exactly, but they were really good. The Wild Boar Ragu was good. The Clams in Brodo were amazing - great flavor. The service was really good attentive without being intrusive. Overall a very solid selection in the Chesapeake area, and the best of the restaurants in the Summit Point area in my opinion. We absolutely loved our dinner at Luce Secondo. We've been to Luce in Norfolk before and somehow loved Secondo more. Our server was amazing, and our food came out fast and fresh. I love homemade pasta, and the Rig & Goose with chicken was everything I hoped it would be. My husband ordered the filet medium, and it was cooked a little over medium, but it still tasted great. The drinks were well made too. I love when restaurants have mocktail options! Lastly, their dessert menu is amazing! We had a hard time choosing but went with the pistachio cheesecake. I had an amazing dinner at Luce Secondo. First, you have to make reservations. I made it through the Rezy app, it was super easy. We got to the restaurant, parking garage is spacious. Walked into Luce Secondo and were welcomed by a friendly hostess and seated in front of the Jazz Band that was playing . That was cool and a pleasant surprise ! I ordered the Wild boar Ragu and the Rigatoni for with sausage and mushrooms. Both dishes were exquisite! Yummy! I also tried the escargot and tuna appetizer. The escargot was better than the tuna , just a preference both were delicious and tasty. The place was packed and it was a really nice and fancy vibe. Not only will the attentive staff blow you away with exceptional service, but the food is exceptional! My absolute favorite is the Rig and Goose, and adding shrimp to the dish - absolutely divine! Drinks: I ordered the Sicilian Crush and my friend went with She's My Cherry Pie. Both were so fresh, so fun, and so good that we didn't even hesitate to order a second round when the food arrived. Starter: We shared the Goat Cheese & Pesto appetizer (a last-second pick from my friend). Honestly, I didn't think I liked goat cheese OR pesto... but turns out, I just hadn't had it done right. Add in artichoke hearts, briny olives, and crusty bread? Literal chef's kiss. ‍ Main Event: Choosing my entrée was dramatic--I was torn between rigatoni and scallops until the server turned to me with, "for you, ma'am?" and suddenly I blurted out Costata di Maiale e Funghi. Best impulsive decision of my life. This dish was a 24-hour herb-brined pork ribeye with mushrooms, marsala wine, and the star of the entire evening: fontina-filled gnocchi. When the plate arrived... I died. Straight to heaven. Two weeks later, I'm still daydreaming about those gnocchi. If you don't order the pork ribeye, at least get a side of gnocchi. Trust me, it's life-changing. The pork? Perfectly cooked--juicy and tender. The mushrooms? Flavor-packed. The marsala sauce? Holy smokes. Unbelievable. I thought I'd never taste marsala this good again after my old favorite Italian spot closed a decade ago... but here it was, back in my life, better than ever. Overall Luce was really good. However Luce is a restaurant I would consider more of an Italian Fusion than a traditional Italian restaurant. Their strengths are a very diverse, quality, and great bar menu from wines to cocktails and everything in between. Our server Jon was absolute gold. Extremely attentive without being over bearing. Now for the food. If you've never ate at a Michelin restaurant or been to Italy, you'd probably love Luce. However my partner and I have had both experiences. Our Calamari appetizer was very good. The breading was light and crispy and the tomato sauce was seasoned well. I had the Ahi Tuna. It was extremely salty, which leads me to believe it's kept in a brine to extend the shelf life versus as fresh as one would hope. The polenta was absolutely perfect. My partner had the Duck. The Duck was made for the masses in that it tasted farm raised not wild. It was honestly hard to taste the difference between the Duck and really great tender pulled chicken. The pasta it was served with was amazing. Very tender and perfect texture. For dessert we had the Maple Bourbon Creme Brûlée and cappuccino. The crème brûlée was absolutely wonderful and a great take on a traditional classic dessert. The cappuccino was made for the masses in that it was Americanized. It tasted good, it just wasn't as robust as I would expect if I was in Italy, which again, Luce is in Chesapeake, not Italy. The vibe of the main dining room is very trendy and modern. If you have a hearing sensitivity or any sensory concerns you might consider the private dining option. The main dining room was not created with acoustics in mind. I will say upon first entry our hostess was not very outgoing or welcoming and there was some confusion given that we requested a table against the wall versus the one we were seated at in the middle of the dining room. I asked about potentially changing and was informed that was not an option even though there were open tables intermittently throughout the evening. For me it's the small things that make or break what I expect of a fine dining experience. Too bad we can't take Jon and have him as our sever at other restaurants, because he alone is what made our experience and the only reason I am not rating Luce as a 3 star. read more

Do not try to eat here alone. I was staying nearby in the Hyatt for a work trip and walked over in the rain only to learn they don't seat lone diners at tables. We visited Luce Secondo for my birthday last month. It was everything I imagined it to be... good food, beautiful ambiance, and friendly staff. Foods: * Bruschetta- I am not fond of tomatoes so we requested to have it removed. The herbs and spices made this bread delicious, even without the tomatoes. * Smoked Salmon Arrabbiata - The salmon are harder to notice, but the flavor is still there. * Aragosta e Cognac - This meal is delicious, but I wish the portion is bigger. It left us wanting more. * Rig and Goose - This Grey Goose tomato cream pasta is my favorite of all. It is flavorful. I added shrimp which made it more filling and savory. Ambiance: Luce Secondo is classy and upscale. The decorations are gorgeous. Price/Menu: The price is reasonable, but like I mentioned earlier, I wish the Aragosta e Cognac has a bigger serving. I had a very disappointing experience at Luce Secondo on March 17, 2025, between 5-7 pm. As a walk-in, my guest and I were seated at a table directly adjacent to the bar during what appeared to be a company happy hour event. While the restaurant itself was nearly empty--with many other open tables--we were placed in an area where groups of people were standing directly over and around our table. Throughout our meal, individuals were drinking, talking loudly, adjusting their clothing, and even putting their hands inside their pants in full view while we were trying to eat. It was uncomfortable, distracting, and frankly inappropriate for a dining environment. The service only added to the frustration. Our waiter recommended a loaf of "fresh baked bread," which arrived noticeably undercooked. When this was pointed out, he offered to bring additional sourdough pieces similar to those served with the mussels--which were actually prepared properly--but then charged us $5 for them. Charging for a correction to an unsatisfactory item felt inappropriate and left a poor impression. What made the experience even more frustrating is that the final bill came to $150 before tip, and we still left a 20% gratuity despite the issues. At that price point, I would expect far better judgment in seating, food quality, and overall customer experience. Overall, the combination of poor seating decisions, lack of awareness of the dining environment, and subpar food quality made this an experience I would not repeat. After having a reservation; 30 minutes for the first drink to come to the table, 45 minutes for the first appetizer and 90 minutes for the entrees to arrive on a Thursday night. And we ordered flat breads and salad, which take about 5 minutes to make. The pasta felt like it was microwaved and reheated. The waiter took 20 minutes and to even take our order. I have had fine dining around the world, and normally the service in such places is amazing, but here I honestly cannot believe how bad the service was. Over 30 minutes to get the first drink! The goat cheese appetizer was very good, the Linda pizza was something a 5 year old could make. I can't believe how bad this experience was.
