This is the first time I've ever been to a restaurant waiting to be seated after going to look for a table coming back and then telling me they're too busy to serve us. The restaurant was only half full when they turned us away because they were too busy. They were happy to send us to their sister restaurant right next door. By that time they had lost my business.

Paella de playa

We rode by Havana one day and added it to our list of restaurants to try. We were not disappointed when we did..its such a cute and cozy atmosphere. Service and food did not disappoint either. The oyster Stew appetizer made us want to lick the plate. I thought the Paella was just okay but my husband loved it so we switched entrees lol The chicken and shrimp curry was very flavorful.

Roasted red pepper & Goat cheese

Great spot the service was amazing and there was only one waitress I don't remember her name but she was quick and super friendly! The inside of the restaurant was very dim, great place to go to have a private moment but groups are also welcome as well. For the inside to be small all the tables fit just right so you weren't crowded together, awesome job! Last the food, starting with the appetizer we order the Roasted peppers and goat cheese, simple and very good! It came with toasted crostini olive oil. We also order the Salmon En Papillote and Havana crab cakes. Everything was very good my only issue was the black beans tasted like they came out of the can and nothing for favor added to them. Other than that this was a great experience.

Parmesan encrusted salmon with corn and sweet potato

Pros: the food! I got the Parmesan encrusted salmon which was cooked perfectly and that crust, so delicious! My only gripe was the sides, it came with a corn and sweet potato 'salad' but those two don't quite go together. Would've been better to remove one and replace with a starch. 2 others at the table got the pork osso bucco and would not stop raving about it! Cons: their desserts weren't the greatest and they didn't comp, even though we were celebrating a birthday. Skip dessert, focus on dinner! Also, the reservation process was odd. They won't take reservations online, only by phone. Then the website says no same day reservations after 5pm but they open at 5pm. Unnecessarily confusing. Luckily we tried around 2pm and got someone, but seems like it would be simpler to have online reservations. Also, the bathroom decor was strange (half naked men photos all over the walls). While I appreciate the artistic choice and good conversation piece, it was an odd choice. :)

Comp bread & delicious herb butter..

First visit to this location. Came in around 8ish on a Friday & it was packed! Host/hostess stand was attentive during our 30 min long wait. The waitress sold me on the Crab Stuffed Flounder w/ Brussel Sprouts. She said it was their "special, really good & a large cut of fish." My friend got the Osso Bucco just because it sounded cool.. HAHA. We were given a bread appetizer w/ some delicious creamy herb butter. I enjoyed the butter...bread was ok but, kept reminding me of can biscuit mix for some reason...acceptable nevertheless. When the food arrived I was taken back by my friend's HUGE hunk of pork shank served with risotto & grilled asparagus. It was bigger than my head! My dish cost more and was much smaller than his. I was bummed. I thought ok.. Maybe it tastes better than it looks. Not. It was ok just nothing to write home about. Standard fish and crab. I did enjoy the brussel sprouts and I don't normally eat them. However, the Osso Bucco were flavors that were different to me.. I'm thinking maybe in the way it was prepared. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it but, found myself sopping up my friend's plate, gnawing on the bone AND taking his leftovers home! I don't waste food. Last was the dessert.... Chocolate bread pudding w/ one scoop of ice cream! DEEEE-LI-SHUS... but, Can we have one more scoop of ice cream please?? By the end of our meal, I know I enjoyed myself so much that my fake eyelash was hanging at a 45 degree angle! Now, that's a good time!! Thank goodness I wasn't on a date! :) I def want to go back for HH specials, Tues BOGO Free Entree', and to try some of the items on their Tapas menu. I'll try to dress up next time. I think some of Hampton Roads finest were here that evening. I'm sure it's me but, everyone looked just so... beautiful & dressed to the nines. This is coming from a chick that prefers jeans and hole-in-the-wall joints...

Dim lighting, great vibe/atmosphere, delicious food, and exceptional service is the recipe for a perfect date night. Don't let the outside of the restaurant fool you. I've passed this place every day and assumed it was a mom and pop joint that just served sandwiches. As soon as you walk in, I honestly felt like I was in a different country. The aroma, atmosphere, and music made me feel like I was in Cuba. Ordered the clams picante, roasted red peppers & goat cheese, and the oyster Havana. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully plated. Each bite made me want more (well all of it), but since I was on a first date, I was a bit shy and didn't pig out. It took a lot for me not to lick the plate clean. That's how good everything was! I am looking forward to coming back and trying their dinner items. I see they have specials during the week and happy hour Monday-Friday 5-7pm. Most definitely a hidden gem tucked away on great neck road.

Jerk chicken

Finally tried this place and I'm glad we did, not as Cuban as one might hope but still good. Hubby had the jerk chicken and I had the steak mojo with the 1/2 chicken nachos. Tried the mojito and it was not good, excepted more on the drink front.

Went here for an event and it was good. The atmosphere was very professional but relaxed. But then again maybe because of the event I was there for. I had the Pinoit Noir and was tasty! I loved how open the space was - didn't feel crowded even though there was quite a few people there. And there was WIFI!

Mojito!

One of the worst chefs that you have now. I would never go back to eat there. The food is gross and has no flavor.

What a disappointing experience . My family and I loved coming to pops diner for breakfast and…read moresometimes lunch dishes . We also have 4 kids under 5 years old so it's nice to go somewhere that offers kids eat free . Typically we sit in the corner and is a pleasant experience . This time not so much at all . Drinks for kids aren't included and usually I get them waters . Today I decided to order a sweet tea for them to share . So I ask the waitress to bring my 2 extra small kids cups so I can divide it. She brings larger ines but I just think it's probably all they have . She then proceeds to hand me the drink and say " I can't give you refills since you are dividing the drink " I reply and let her know I'm buying a drink that comes with refills I'm not going to ask for 3 separate refills absolutely not . I'll probably just ask for 1 refill on my 1 drink that I bought and divided for mt small children . She arguing me and it was to the point that I'd rather just hit have the drink . Then with a laugh she says "okay I can give you refills . " the whole encounter was strange and inappropriate and unnecessary. It made the whole finding experience afterwards strange and uncomfortable . So disappointing . We will Not be returning .

185 in Poquoson is the Real Deal -- Don't Sleep on This Place!…read more It is always unplanned trips that allow me to explore a bit and glad I did. I was sitting in the parking lot of a large chain breakfast pulled up Yelp to see what I might be missing. Glad wasn't lazy...15 mins later I was in the parking lot for 185! If you haven't been to 185 on Little Florida Road in Poquoson, you are seriously missing out. This charming, family-owned neighborhood gem is everything a great local restaurant should be and then some. The moment I walked through the door, I felt it. You're not just a customer here; you're a guest. The welcome was immediate and genuine and set the tone for the whole experience before I even sat down. I ordered the brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries, and wow, it delivered. I was surprised the blackberry chipotle sauce worked BERY WELL! The brisket was tender, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Paired with perfectly seasoned sweet potato fries, it was the kind of meal that sticks with you long after you leave. This isn't reheated, thrown-together food, you can taste the love and craft in every bite. It was like Woman Power this morning with all ladies from front to back. Their whole vibe was awesome from the front of the house to the back. I have to give a very special shoutout to my waitress, Tiffany... she was absolutely AWESOME. Attentive, personable, and full of good energy, she made the whole experience even better. The kind of server who makes you feel like you're dining with a friend. Looks like 185 was ranked #87 on Yelp's Top 100 Restaurants in 2023, and after my visit, I completely understand why. The owners obviously had a beautiful vision and it is being executed incredibly...to my benefit today! Five stars, without question. When I am back in the area....I'll be back, and I'm bringing my wife will tell everyone I know.

The small size…read moresurprised me, the mismatched tables and chairs had a vibe of its own and made it a kind of homey invite. Only 1 table was empty and we were seated quickly. It was clearly a local favourite and there was quickly a lineup with people willing and expecting to wait. The service was quick and friendly. The food was good home cooked meals and came out quickly. I had brisket scramble and it was delicious. It needed the sweet compote to balance the richness. My wife had the biscuits with gravy and eggs were good. There was lots of sausage in the country gravy. The cheese grits were tasty. Overall the food was very good and a solid experience. Since I live with a chef who cooks this quality of food often, I probably wouldn't drive here, however if we were in the area I'd definitely stop here and try other items as well.
