    Grinch, Santa and Ms. Claus

So much fun. Brought back so many memories as a kid. I remember when the train ride used to leave from battle ground. Hopefully this all volunteer train ride keeps getting riders for funding. Fun to see Santa, Ms. Claus and a random Grinch, plus hot coco and cider at the train station.

2 hour ride aboard a diesel powered train. Was able to walk to the Yacolt River falls for a quick photo or two.

    Beautiful and well kept train

Absolutely amazing for volunteer only run train. We were well informed during the train ride and enjoyed the scenery. My children liked every moment. It is worth every dollar. I am glad the people of Yacolt spend their time and effort to make sure this can be something families can do and enjoy!!! Thank you. They are always looking for donators. Tunnels, train crossroads, bridges and more...

Went for the Fathers Day Train ride. Had a lot of fun riding in the caboose, gorgeous scenery. Quite nostalgic going into the woods, stopped to explore the Falls. Well worth the coast and time.

Waving to Santa as we passed, stopped back on the way back for cookies and hot chocolate.

Just took the Christmas Tree Train ride with 3 kiddos. We originally planned to sit outside on the uncovered car but opted for the covered outdoor car since it looked like it was going to rain. Not as scenic I'm sure, but turned out to be a great choice since it rained the whole time we were on the trip. The scenery was great, seeing santa was fun, coffee was so gross (ended up going back for got chocolate which was good), and it was a cool experience. Recommendation would be to layer and dress warm with gloves and beanies just in case. Depending on the way the train is going it can be a bit windy and cold. That way you can still sit outside and enjoy it without being cold.

Went on the steam train to see santa, fabulous trip! The volunteers were amazing and knowledgable and santa was so fabulous with the kids...will definitely go again!!!

I went to this when I was really little. And I might as well say that this is probably one of the best railroads around the WA area period!

So have all the moves been the same type? No. Everything from interstate, intrastate to intercity, intracity. I have hired national movers, local movers and moved myself, so I have a bit of experience. In prep for my next move, I had interviewed a few companies to manage our move from the Los Angeles area to the Portland area. We had everything scheduled and had received a quote that was reasonable. However, I noticed this particular agency had not included storage. 7 days before our scheduled move, they finally update the quote and the storage fees were outrageous. Wow, they were trying to pull a fast one on me. Did I mention they gave me the quote on Easter weekend? I felt trapped, knowing that we were running out of time. That's when Scott Burke of Lile stepped in to save the day. He was able to coordinate our move at a great price in 4 days. YES, 4 DAYS. Am I talking a small load to pack and ship? No, I'm talking 12,000 lbs to pack and ship. How did the whole process go? SMOOTH SAILING. Every step along the way, staff was courteous and on time. Plus, Scott continuously checked on us to make sure we were happy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I can honestly say this was the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. This crew was completely unprofessional from start to finish. * They ignored the agreed-upon schedule. * They arrived without the basic supplies needed to do the job. * They failed to protect our door and entrance showing little to no care for our property. * They left furniture upside down after unloading and made no effort to place items properly. * They didn't even have the necessary tools to complete the job. * They refused to help set up the bed and take the TV out into place. To make matters worse, I still tipped the crew because I believe in appreciating hard work, but looking back, they absolutely did not earn it. A PCS move is already stressful enough. Military families deserve a moving company they can rely on during a PCS. Unfortunately, this company failed to meet even the most basic expectations. This company showed a complete lack of professionalism, preparation, and respect for its customers' property. I strongly recommend avoiding this company. There are plenty of moving companies out there--don't make the mistake of choosing this one.

There are many generous donors as noted on many of the displays which is cool. In the yard, there are old vehicles and construction equipment of the early days showing how supplies and timber were moved. They are worn and rusted but adds to its historical significance. The museum is about 3 floors, the 2nd floor is small, but packed with information about the nature around the gorge. There are theaters that show short features of the environment about the gorge. Depending on how deep your fascination for this goes, you could spend about 2 hours here a bit more if you read and examine all the displays. This museum is a perfect field trip for a school or parents looking to educate their youngsters about the history of the area. Even then, if you enjoy Pacific Northwest history, definitely add this to your list of museums to visit.
