Taking the Gray Line Waterfall Trolley was an absolutely entertaining experience! The open-air design really made the journey along the Historic Columbia River Highway feel special. Our friendly guide shared fascinating stories about each breathtaking stop, from the stunning Multnomah Falls to the peaceful Ainsworth State Park. I loved having the freedom to hop on and off at any of the ten stops, making it easy to explore the beautiful trails at places like Wahkeena Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. It was a great way to see the incredible waterfalls without worrying about traffic or parking. Highly recommend it! read more

The PDX07 Waterfall Express Transportation to the waterfall trolley was a very convenient way to get to the waterfalls from downtown Portland without renting a car and worrying about the hassle of parking. We managed to see 5 waterfalls and the gorge in 4.5 hours, plus a waterfall from the road while riding the trolley. We just wish it departed Portland earlier and/or returned later than 3pm to allow for additional time to see more waterfalls. We arrived at Multnomah Falls late due to road work in downtown Portland and seemed to miss a few of the trolleys. We weren't too sure if the PDX07 started in Corbett or Multnomah Falls but it ended up dropping off and picking up at Multnomah Falls (not Corbett). The trolleys start at 9am and by the time we arrived it was around 10:08am when the west-bound trolley arrived and maybe 10:40am when the east-bound trolley arrived. I think we must've just missed it when we first arrived since I think I saw it go by then. We opted to make good use of our time by checking out Multnomah falls first while waiting for the east-bound trolley to come. It turned out to be a lot less busy at that time as well. There was a lot of confusion with the trolley schedule given to us in downtown Portland, it seemed to differ from the actual schedule that we took from the trolley when we got there and didn't include the times for both directions. For some reason we also had to pickup our trolley stickers from the trolley when we got there. It seemed like it would've been more efficient to give those to us in Portland with the rest of the papers they gave us. We did a lot of research and planned our route the night before so we could make efficient use of our time. The website has helpful suggestions based on how much time you have to spend. I think this just assumes you are parking at Corbett and doesn't factor in packages like the PDX07 route. The route we ended up doing was: 1. Multnomah Falls (bottom plus middle bridge) 2. East-bound trolley to Horsetail Falls where we hopped off for 5 min for pictures of the waterfall while the trolley turned around. 3. West-bound trolley to Latourell falls (stopping for an hour). 4. East-bound trolley to Bridal Veil falls (stopping for an hour). We had time for both the waterfall and the overlook of the gorge. 5. East-bound trolley to Wahkeena falls. We saw the Wahkeena falls and then walked back to Multnomah falls where we had plenty of time to use the restroom, eat snacks, and see Multnomah falls again. We only had around 4.5 hours due to the PDX07 tour bus from downtown Portland so we opted to see as many waterfalls as possible and avoided long hikes. Overall, this was well worth the money spent and very convenient if you don't have a car or don't want to deal with parking at the falls. Just make sure to plan out your trip ahead of time to make the most efficient use of your time. We would love to see the bus schedule extended to allow for a full day of exploring the waterfalls (at least within the operating hours of the waterfall trolley). read more

I loved this. Easiest way to access all the waterfalls and so many trails. Now that I've been on this once I think of it more as a shuttle than a tour. So easy to get on and get off. Great way to spend the whole day hiking and touring the falls without having to think about driving, traffic, and permits. Friendly drivers who know the area well. All that and check out the fresh fruit stand just down the street from the parking lot! read more

We did this waterfall trolley for the first time. It was so fun! It was one of my favorite things we did during our trip to the Pacific Northwest. It can get a little cold and wet so I recommend bringing a jacket. The trolley takes you to many different beautiful waterfalls. You can choose which ones you want to get off at and look at. They trolley doesn't wait for you though. It drops you off and you have to wait to get on another one. read more

Wow! Found this last minute when we located their brochure while at the Sturgeon Hatchery. What an amazing way to see each of the Falls (start early) and not have to worry about parking or the permit. We started at the end of the day and were still able to get off the Trolley at both Horsetail Falls and Multnomah Falls! The drivers/guides were kind and helpful & we all (ages 8-81) felt safe while enjoying the incredible views as passengers on the Trolley! Do wish they had discounted prices for Seniors. read more

Waterfall Trolley: Waterfalls Made Easy We used the Waterfall Trolley to visit Multnomah Falls and the Waterfall Corridor in late July 2023. The Trolley is definitely in our estimation the best way to see the waterfalls! We left on the 9:00 trolley from Corbett, first hopping off at Bridal Veil Falls. We had plenty of time for a leisurely hike down to the falls and back, and a second trail gave us great views of the Columbia River Gorge. Catching the next trolley (running every hour), we went to Wahkeena Falls, and after viewing the falls, hiked the path to Multnomah Falls, which was the highlight of the day. We splurged and had a delicious Sunday brunch at the Multnomah Lodge (reservations recommended), and then boarded an eastbound trolley to head to Horsetail Falls. Horsetail Falls is close to the highway, so after a short visit we jumped aboard the westbound trolley and headed to Latourell Falls. There we did the figure eight loop, which took around a half hour. After a short wait we were ready to board our last trolley back to Corbett, tired but happy at all the falls we'd seen. Impressions: the Trolley runs along the Historic Columbia River Highway. Parking at the various waterfall locations is very limited. We felt a little sorry for drivers waiting to find parking spots while we hopped on the trolley and were off to see the next waterfall. The highway is narrow and twisty, so the driver in our family was grateful to be able to relax and see the sights, instead of worrying about driving. The hiking possibilities are almost endless, but the Waterfall Trolley has recommended itineraries and can advise on how to maximize use of the time that you have available. At each location there were trail maps prominently displayed at kiosks, making it easy to decide which trail to take. The trolleys are San Francisco cable car style, with open air and enclosed portions. Informative narrations provide background on the history and geography of the Columbia River gorge and the waterfalls. Those with an interest in engineering will enjoy hearing about the construction of the Columbia River Highway. We highly recommend the Waterfall Trolley -- we found it a fun and relaxing way to experience the Waterfall Corridor. read more

The trolley is a fun, informative, and convenient way to see waterfalls along the Historic Columbia River Highway corridor. We had time to stop by and hike to 6 waterfalls (or at least their main viewing areas) including a picnic lunch (which we packed and brought with us) with 2 adults and 2 kids. Seeing the traffic and parking at the different sites made us especially grateful for the trolley experience. Drivers were friendly and informative.
