Our first time here and we were amazed !! The staff was helpful even though they were incredibly busy and the total atmosphere was great . Fire pit burning , Latin music blasting , people laughing and talking , the smell of meats and spices filled the air . I ordered the Lomo Arepa which was a fresh arepa filled with delicious seasoned steak , onions , yuca , tomatoes and fresh chimichurri on the side . Absolutely delicious !!! My boyfriend had the Chicken Lomo Arepa which was delicious grilled chicken, yuca , tomatoes and onions . Also delicious !! We also ordered the white rice and black beans and the Grandma Chellas fried rice packed with eggs , plantains and red onions. Loved the fried rice and its unique flavors . Chellas Arepa should definitely be on your list of places to try in Lancaster . The delicious foods , outside dining atmosphere, music and friendly staff all combine to make it one heck of an experience . Since it's literally only 5 minutes away we're definitely going back soon . Thank you Chellas Arepa !!

Was visiting Lancaster for work in mid-April and needed a spot for lunch. This was the first place my coworkers recommended. The food truck is now in a permanent location just off the Costco parking lot, but there is also another brick-and-mortar store in the region that I haven't tried. I followed my coworkers recommendations and got the arepa pernil and yuca fries. The food is made-to-order and was ready about 10 minutes later. While there is outdoor seating for patrons, it was a little too windy for me and so I took my order to-go. The portions were quite sizeable and the side of fries would have been very easy to share amongst 2-3 persons. The arepa was loaded to the max and tasted absolutely wonderful! I loved the savory meat being paired with the sweet plantain. Next time I'm in the office I'll be coming back here for more!

This has got to be some of the yummiest food ever. Chellas Arepa Kitchen is located very close to the Lancaster Costco (it diverts off of the road like a little Food Truck-style stand that has its own accompanying parking lot!) Complete with outdoor seating, string lights, festive music, and a bonfire to keep warm! Food == EXCELLENT. If you are stuck on the menu, trust me, you must 10000% get the lomo saltado -- the strips of grilled steak were cooked tenderly to perfection with some of the most amazing sauce with fried yucca pieces mixed in, fresh tomatoes, red onions, and chimichurri sauce on the side. SO FREAKING GOOD! Also plentiful rice. We loved it!!! We also had the chimichurri chicken arepa and yucca fries separately. But the must get dish is the lomo saltado--we'll definitely be back for this (even if we're 45 min away!!)

Wow! This place is amazing! We were in the area on vacation and wanted to try something different. We tried it based on Yelp reviews. Wow, we were not disappointed! When we walked up to order, the lady taking our order was so friendly and smiling! We felt so welcomed! The food is so delicious and fresh! We ordered the Steak Bowl, Lomo Saltado Bowl, and a Lomo Arepa! Everything was so delicious! The prices are good. I did not want to stop eating the food was that delicious! The ambiance is interesting. The Mexican music was so nice, the fire pit was nice to help keep us warm while waiting for our food. They had a lot of customers. They are located across from Costco. Such a great location. Absolutely recommend this place and will be back when we're in the area!

My reviews are different. I do not announce myself or tell anyone I am there - I am there to do a review!! Do you remember that feeling as a kid, eagerly waiting for Christmas? Whether it's summertime and you ask your parents for something and they tell you to just wait and Christmas is finally a week away with Mariah Carey singing and the good old A Christmas Story constantly on ABC Family? That is exactly how I felt about wanting to try Chellas in Lancaster. Then I tried it. You know that feeling when you finally open a gift at Christmas and it's just a pair of socks? Well, that's how I felt when I bit into the LA ROXANNE AREPA . I was devastated and disappointed. Having just come back from Sunny's in Miami where I had a delicious steak, I still had high expectations. This steak did not compare. It was very chewy, overcooked, and not enjoyable. However, the one thing that was enjoyable was the atmosphere. It felt like a home away from home along the countryside of PR a fire pit, a nice cooler full of sodas and water, and great outdoor lighting. The Latin music made the vibe even better. I was disappointed by the sandwich, but don't let my review deter you; I only tried one item. The atmosphere is great and there are many more options on the menu. They also have a house sauce that was delicious; I put that right on top and it made the food much more enjoyable. Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Mainly because the atmosphere and the staff were so inviting.

Found this food truck stop, thanks to Yelp. But I didn't know it was a food truck stop. No worries, there was plenty of parking. The line was quick. Choosing what to order is what took a bit. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. We placed our orders and waited to be called. In the meantime, had a few questions. So returned to the window. Asked why was yuca chosen instead of potatoes. She didn't know. But ultimately the cook came around. This is Peruvian food influenced with Venezuelan cuisine. So this is the result. Our food came out and I have to say it was delicious! The Lomo Saltado tasted great with the yuca. Maybe healthier, so a winner. My husband loved his pernil arepa. Nice to have the option of Inca cola too. If you like Peruvian food, this place is a winner! Stop by, you'll be glad you did. And if you've never eaten Peruvian food, what are you waiting for?

What a fun concept! I placed my order online. It was easy to make adjustment and easy to pay. The food was absolutely amazing! We all tried something different and we enjoyed the rice bowl,the Arepas, yucca fries, and plantains. Everything came as ordered, was piping hot and delicious. Outside of the food truck, they have a fire going so if you want to sit around and have your meal, you'll be nice and warm. I can't wait to go back and try more of their items.

Been dying to try Chellas since seeing how well they rank on the Yelps list across the USA, let me just say I can see why they are ranked so high!!!!!!! We didn't preorder and it was super cold and windy but there was a fire going to keep warm while you waited, the music was awesome and the decor of the outside seating was very tropical and plentiful, (can't wait to come back in the warmer months)! Okay the food- wow- the arepas were perfectly seared and still soft with a great corn flavor. I got the lomo arepa and the steak wasn't just put on top but also at the bottom of the arepa- great portion size and flavor especially with the chimichurri on top. My husband got the chicken chimicurri arepa and I don't think he spoke for 10 minutes as he wolfed it down! Platanos were piping hot and perfectly fried, Chellas knows how to do it right and I can't wait to go back!

As a Venezuelan, I was excited to try this food truck since they sell arepas, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had with Venezuelan food. When we arrived, they told us it would take 20-25 minutes. Even though we had a very hungry toddler and a newborn, we decided to wait. After 45 minutes, we asked what was going on and they said "10 more minutes." One hour later, they told us "15 more minutes" because they were waiting on plantains. I asked them to at least give us the rest of the food since my child was very hungry, and only after insisting did they hand it over. By then, the food had been sitting for over an hour, it was cold, soggy, and chewy, completely inedible. They told us to come back for the plantains, but before leaving I checked and they admitted they actually didn't have any. I asked for a refund, they wrote down my name, and it's now been 5 days with no refund. Everything about this experience was disappointing: the wait, the lack of communication, the poor food quality, and the false promise of a refund. Honestly, I don't understand the hype around this place. The fact that no Latinos were eating there that day might explain a lot.

I was incredibly curious to why this place was rated so high both locally and nationally. I gotta say; super surprised! The food is simple and delicious. Everything is just good; nothing super fancy or expensive; it's just good food. The seats are outside only (for now; heard they got themselves a building) so going on a nice day is important. They have their own parking and seating but it does get crowded. The service is fast; you just walk up and order and 5 min (esp for takeout). The lomo arepa has a lot more pulled pork inside than it looks; the OG everyone raves about Pernil Arepa was ok in my opinion. Yuca fries are a must. Warning; you'll eat 4 pieces and feel like you ate a whole thing of fries; so filling. Come through and try one of the pride and joy of Lancaster!

I would never know about this place if it wasn't for me checking out yelp top 100 places and discovered this one is on the top 5 and I must have drove past it many time when I am around Lancaster. Decided to check it out for lunch one day when I was close and it did not disappoint. A food truck that made it to top 5? Let's see what it's all about. Service was quick, food was fresh, price was reasonable, portion size was not bad. First time heard of arepa and looked it up and found it was a stable food in South America. All of the food was flavorful, I would come back again for more. There is a seating outdoor if you want to eat there, it's quite nice to eat there on a sunny day. People were friendly and the ambiance is good.

I wish I could eat here every day! My husband and I stopped here after hearing great things for a while and let me tell you, the hype is real! My husband and I are vegan so having a delicious vegan option is greatly appreciated. The staff was quick to tell us how to make our items vegan (all it was was no cheese) and make recommendations. Our food was made to order and fabulous. I never had an arepa before but it was crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. If you haven't you need to come here! read more

Totally came to check out Chellas Areapa Kitchen based on Yelp reviews alone. What really won me over was that the owner Luis, responded to each and every review received, even the one star review. I figured it must be good if the owner is so committed to engaging with his customers. I and my husband enjoyed our meal completely. We ordered the chimichuri chicken arepa, plantains, Inca Brussels sprouts, and pernil arepa (roast pork). The food was very hot (temperature) and the portions were appropriate. We had leftovers. I loved the avocado on the chicken arepa. My husband loved the roast pork. Arepa was a little hard to hold, the bowl might be a good option with the arepa on the side. We even got to meet Luis. He is a very nice gentleman. Ask for him, I'd he's there and it's not crazy busy, I bet he'll say hello. We very much enjoyed our experience. We will most certainly return. read more

Outstanding South American arepas and meat, rice and beans bowls from a local food truck in a permanent location. I'm not from this area but I could tell how popular Chella's is simply by how busy it was. The arepas are authentic and delicious but if you're not into the corn batter beauties then you can just as easily get the fillings in a bowl instead. Made fresh on the premises with about a ten to fifteen minute period from order to eating, depending on how busy they are at the time. The only tricky part of Chella's is the parking - it's a small lot and you may have to be patient if you want a spot right there. If you don't mind a short walk, they are located right across from a shopping center with plenty of parking and there's a traffic light right there so it's simple to cross the street. All in all, a great meal at a good price and I totally get why it's a mainstay eatery in the area. read more

I was in Lancaster so thought of going for a late lunch and was looking at ten reviews and found this place ... i put the address on google maps and when I saw the place I was surprised it's not a regular type of restaurant and not a food truck. It's a stationed place and they set up picnic tables. The food was delicioussss... the menu is pretty simple 4 sandwiches and 4 bowls (pork, beef, chicken and veggies) the tried the pork it's really yummy... and the yuca fries were also fresh . Walking up, I was greeted by a warm aroma of spices, seasonings and meats and veggies. I was sold!! It doesn't take much for me. I love the come-up, struggling food truck feel, but Chellas is far from it and is serving FANTASTIC food from the corner!! The Chimichurri Chicken was PHENOMENAL. I don't know what an arepas is but it was awwwwwweesome!!! It reminded me of a grilled pita pocket. I am a hater of cilantro but the little topping of cilantro-garlic oil drizzled was just right. The chimichurri sauce was hot and the right amount of heat to a well seasoned chicken pocket pita sandwich. So happy with my lunch!! Delicious!!! read more

This place is amazing. Everything on the menu is dynamite. If you like tacos, this is better. My favorite is the pork, it is coated in a honey glaze and shoved in a corn cake with beans and cheese, what else can you ask for. Also the green salsa is killer. read more

Stopped here on our way home after a weekend in Lancaster, and let me say I can't wait for our next trip back to stop here again! The food was so delicious! The girl who took our order was great with recommendations. We had the pernil arepa - sooo good! The bbq sauce was delicious, and we loved the mad llama hot sauce. We also had the chicken bowl with cheese, avocado, tomatoes, and sautéed onions - again it was delicious! And the fresh chimichurri sauce was amazingly good. I recommend this to anyone in the area - I just wish we lived closer! But this for sure will be a place we come back to next time we're in the area. read more

Not sure what I can add to all the reviews, it lives up to the hype. We got pernil and lobo and each had half of each with some yuca fries. They were incredible, and had so much flavor. I have had Arepas in Colombia but these are somehow better than any I had there. There is outdoor seating. TIPS: One thing to note is it is popular, we went on a Sunday afternoon and it took about 20 minutes to prepare the food since there was such demand with pick up orders and people calling in, much longer than a normal food truck experience, so be prepared if you are going at a busy time or call ahead. So after 2 months of over thinking about going to this place I finally made the plan and time to go and try some Arepas. Oh boy if I'm glad we did, of course first I made sure they were open til 7pm because first I wanted to do some shopping in Lancaster. So after walking around I decided to drive here and first thing I noticed as soon as we get out of the truck the wonderful smell. We wanted to sample a little bit of everything so we ordered a Pernil, a Chicken and a Lomito saltado one. Also we ordered some yuca. And the sauces we decided to try all three the chimichurri the aioli and the angry llama. Ok the arepas hands down are so delicious and to my honest opinion this is the best latin food I've had here in Harrisburg Lancaster area. While every kind of Arepa has its own exquisite and unique flavor my favorite was the Pernil the pork was just so flavorful and tender and delicious. It went perfect with a mix of the aioli and the angry llama. My second favorite was the Lomito saltado it had so much flavor and the way they mixed all the ingredients was just fantastic last but not least the chicken one really really good the chicken was so tender and juicy and has a delicious taste. The yuca was amazing just the right crunchy and delicious it went perfect with all sauces. What else can I say This place it's an absolute winner and can't wait to go back and have some delicious food and enjoy the outdoor seating with a cold Sangria and some super amazing Arepas. Keep cooking this delicious food please! And of course I will recommend them! Try something different and enjoy! read more

Luis being born in Peru grew up watching his grandmother Chella make lots of tradition meals. He wants Chellas to be your first option when it comes down to sharing and e biting food and a great service with the ones you love. Like at Chella's House it wasn't just about the food, but of the many flavors and the conversations. The food was beyond expectations; the chimichurri chicken arepa was hand crafted by the hands of their ancestors packing the flavor of a thousand generations. Absolutely incredible food. The chimmichurri arepa is my favorite. Always hot and fresh food. My husband and I go almost every weekend and the arepas are consistently good. Generous portions. Luis puts his heart and soul into the food. He is a friendly owner who remembers faces and orders. The doubles? Exceptional. Soft, perfectly filled, and full of flavor. And the hot pepper sauce? Whew. It didn't just add heat, it elevated an already outstanding dish to another level. I ordered so many doubles I barely had room for anything else but I had to try the dhal and it was exactly what I needed. Comforting, rich, and done right. Everything tasted like true, authentic Trini food, the kind that makes you feel warm, satisfied, and already thinking about your next visit. I was literally craving it every single day for the rest of my Lancaster trip. The space itself is on the smaller side, but really cute and inviting. I always order the coconut jerk chicken and am delighted be the Trinidadian/Asian fusion mix their menu provides. Specials rotate, which is so much fun. The staff are always friendly, helpful, and even my gluten-free mother can eat here. The food is consistently good and the spice levels are high, so take them seriously! Especially the pepper beef. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through!

It was a bonus that they had TVs and the World Cup playing. If being critical, the white meat was a little chewy and dry but the charcoal flavor was there. I'm guessing they're being careful about foodborne illness and cooking to higher temps. Using some of the 3 sauces was a a must. The leg, however, was to die for even without sauce. Juicy and fell right off the bone. The rice (chaufa) was cooked well and flavor was not overtly soy sauce thankfully. Green beans were crispy and fresh. Overall, I would recommend Friscos to anyone in search of a healthier option for dinner.

I wasn't planning on eating lunch that day, but I didn't want to lose another chance of trying this place. I finished the salad. The sauce had a bit of horseradish or wasabi in it. There was a kick to it. It was a nice surprise. I had to eat quickly because it was about to downpour. I asked for a lid and they offered a bag for me, but I didn't take it. I just needed to run to my car quick. There is a parking garage two blocks north infront of the Hamilton Watch store. It's $2 to park for an hour. Would I come back again? Yes, I would. I would want to try their other options too. That sauce got me hooked.

There was pão de queijo (a Brazilian cheese bread like an elevated Cheddar Bay Biscuit) to munch on, too. There was a full self-serve salad bar with tasty meats and cheeses as well as bread and butter, black beans and rice, macaroni and cheese, candied bacon, and clam chowder. Once we had our sides and sat back down, we were offered beverages (my girlfriend got a bottled Coke, I got a Guaraná) and waiters started bringing meat. Over the course of our meal, we were offered bacon wrapped chicken or beef (we picked chicken), top sirloin, bottom sirloin, filet mignon, Parmesan crusted pork, and more (it was a little overwhelming). Potatoes were served somewhat randomly - mashed potatoes and potato wedges - along with a palate cleanser of plantains about halfway through the meat parade. It might have been nice to have the potatoes a little earlier but we might not have had enough room for meat if we'd had the potatoes earlier. And the meat is definitely the star of the show. The space is a little small (there was a server's station right behind my girlfriend's seat) but, for the most part, that space is used efficiently. We were in and out within 50 minutes, very satisfied. Be sure to check out The Gaúcho's Way if you find yourself in Lancaster County!

I have genuinely never had a better experience at any food establishment than I did at Rocoto. My husband and I ordered the chicken and beef empanadas to start and the smell of the crust alone was enough to brighten our day but the whole of it altogether was an ethereal experience. Perfect combination of a delicious crunchy, flaky crust with a beautiful combination of flavors waiting inside. We would have been delighted to leave it at the empenadas, that alone would have been enough for a 5 (10 if I could) star review but we also ordered the birria tacos and the beef bistec a lo pobre which easily brings us up to a 30 star review. The tacos has a perfect balance of Oaxaca cheese and tender meat with a beautiful flavor and plenty of onion and cilantro and the perfect dipping broth to kick the flavor to the best birria tacos I've ever had. And the bistec a lo pobre with a side of fried plantains? Quoted directly from my husband, "I've never seen you have a slow blink because you've like a food this much." The plantains had such a beautiful flavor (that's the 3rd and probably not the last use of the word beautiful I've used in this review), the meat in and of itself was perfectly cooked and beautifully (see?) flavorful. I could have eaten that all alone but a big bite with the egg, plantains, meat and rice (which again, somehow could have been a perfect meal all on it's own. I can't imagine how someone makes rice taste soooo good but they've done it) was almost an exact reenactment of the scene from Rattatouille when he eats that piece of cheese with a strawberry and the scene shows fireworks and swirls as he discovered a newfound love of the new flavor combo. It almost feels like I've never had food before today it's thay good. You will almost never catch me wanting dessert at a restaurant but after what had been the best eating experience we've ever had we decided we had to stay a little bit longer, have some delicious chocolate cake and fried ice cream while we waited for our to-go order of empanadas to take home to enjoy later. The server was a very attentive lovely young woman who we sent to send our compliments to the owner (something we've never done) who was so kind to come over and chat with us for a minute. The restaurant was very calm, quiet and clean which is very refreshing for two people who are very tired of glaringly loud restaurants. The only noise we could hear between the two of us was laughter, joy and excitement over how good this food was. If you know the Lord you'll feel how blessed this food is....we walked into this restaurant after a deep heartfelt conversation about the sad things in our lives, shedding tears right outside in the car. From the moment we stepped in all the way up to writing this review 2 hours later we've experienced a joy like no other meal has ever brought us before. We can not wait to go back and bring everyone we know with us for as long as they'll let us in the building. If you've been thinking about trying this place out I say RUN, GO NOW! We ended up buying an extra drink after we ate to leave the waiter a tip. Food: We ended up getting Anticucho de Carne in place of the chicken they don't serve daily. We had Roasted Chicken Empanadas as well as Beef and Cheese, they were delicious--especially the roasted chicken one with peppers and onions. The beef and cheese filling was very mild tasting, most of the flavor came from the outer part. The Lomo saltado was very clean tasting and enjoyable. Lastly, we got fried ice cream with honey which was a 10/10! Ambience: The dining area was super clean. There was no music. The seats are pretty close to each other, initially we were the only ones there but about 5 more parties came in and it was pretty tight but not uncomfortable at all. You get to see the bustling around the kitchen and front serving area, however, there is a wall that semi-separates the sitting area from the pick up counter adjacent to the serving area so you get to skip out on the in and out.
