I have been wanting to try this place. This place is owned by a friend of a friend. He had been raving about this place for ... Probably 8-9 years now. Maybe more, I just can't remember when he worked while in Lancaster. It's been too long. Every time I had tried to come check this place out, they were closed. Do, definitely check out their hours before coming here. I just so happened to be in Lancaster during the week and swung by. The place is nondescript and kind of a hidden spot. It's quite reminiscent of an old pub when walking in. It's quiet. But it's a good spot to have lunch with a coworker. This is what I saw when I got here - a bunch of people eating lunch with their coworkers. I grabbed a salad and asked for all the veggies and the chili garlic sauce. It was delicious! I wasn't planning on eating lunch that day, but I didn't want to lose another chance of trying this place. I finished the salad. The sauce had a bit of horseradish or wasabi in it. There was a kick to it. It was a nice surprise. I had to eat quickly because it was about to downpour. I asked for a lid and they offered a bag for me, but I didn't take it. I just needed to run to my car quick. There is a parking garage two blocks north infront of the Hamilton Watch store. It's $2 to park for an hour. Would I come back again? Yes, I would. I've been coming to Silantra since I first moved to the area a decade ago. Everything is super healthy and delicious. I am a laid back person so I prefer counter service restaurants and it's a nice place to bring my kids where we can be in and out fairly quickly. Yummy Asian fusion concept where you get to choose your own toppings! Somewhat reminded me of poke but with cooked meats instead of raw sashimi/fish. Good fast service. Mostly just line workers that poured the foods or made your wrap/bowl. Very cute casual restaurant with seating inside if you'd like. I think the bowl and it's taste may be a hit or miss. I personally really enjoyed what I got but I think that depends highly on the sauces that you put in your bowl or wrap. I also didn't love the scallion bing wrap, it was too soft. If it was on the side it would taste so good fried or just more crispy instead of soft. Sauces I used: chili garlic aioli, teriyaki garlic and a bit of yuzu vinaigrette! Stopped by for a couple of bings and bowl and really enjoyed the food. This concept is very similar to chipotle except that the ingredients are Asian style and the "bing" is a green onion burrito skin that is freshly made. The green onion pancake description can be misleading because it is not crispy. It tastes like a regular burrito skin except that it is softer and chewier. For the bings and bowls, you can split the protein. We tried a mix of the steak and pulled pork or chicken and it was good. For toppings, I was worried that the broccoli would be difficult to eat in a wrap but it was soft and not weird at all. We also tried the peppers and onions, edamame salad, carrots, seaweed salad, wasabi slaw (not that spicy), cilantro, and green onions. For sauce, teriyaki was popular with the kids. We also tried the coconut curry. They recommended a mix of the sweet chili and spicy garlic aioli and that was really good. We also tried the bowl but liked the bing better. Service was great. Passed through Lancaster this summer and while scanning through restaurants, this place sounded interesting. I love eating scallion pancakes and thought it was a really interesting idea to use it as a wrap. Anyway, I was mildly disappointed when I finally got here and ordered it. The whole setup is like the Asian version of Chipotle. Start at the beginning and pick bowl or wrap. Select a starch, protein, and some fillings. And finally, top it with some sauce. First off, it's not a scallion pancake like you would find in Asian/Chinese restaurants. Far from it. The texture is more like a French crepe with bits of scallions in it. It's definitely not the flaky, crispy scallion pancake. And they use it like a burrito wrap. But the rest of the food is pretty decent. It's different from the fast food Chinese places like Panda Express or those you'd find in the food court at the mall. Bottom line, if you like scallion pancakes like the ones you find in Chinese restaurants, stay far away from the wrap. Instead, pick the bowl and fill it with stuff. read more

The restaurant was empty when we went in, but my parents had been raving about the Bings and wanted to take my husband and I while we were in town visiting. I had no idea where to start, but the guy working was super helpful and gave me all his recommendations to help me choose. I got a Bing with pulled pork (definitely more like a Korean BBQ flavor) and it was insanely delicious. Highly recommend the coconut rice and wasabi slaw. Silantro Asian Street Kitchen is a you do you establishment in which you start with a style and base and then customize the rest to your liking. As a starter, Silantro offers two options. One is a "bowl", which is pretty self explanatory, and one is a "bing", which is a scallion pancake style wrap. I would've loved to try the bing but wasn't sure it was vegan, so I opted for the bowl. Next is the base. They offer three different bases: white rice, brown rice or greens (brown rice for me). Next up, protein. They have two plant based choices: tofu or mushrooms (I selected tofu). At this point, things really get customizable. You can fill your bowl with a number of different vegetables. While Silantro has some variety, the add-ons are more limited than other customizable restaurants I've been to. Vegan kimchi, peppers and pickled carrots were a few of the items I selected. Finally a sauce is added. Silantro has about a half dozen to choose from (sweet chili was my choice). My bowl was great. I loved the texture of the tofu and the variety of flavors produced by the kimchi, sweet chili sauce and pickled carrots. The veggies were fresh and the serving size was pretty big. Why not five stars? Two reasons. First, I wanted more vegetable options to customize. If we are gonna do it, let's get crazy. Second, Silantro does an incredible job of marking items that are not gluten free. I want them to do the same for vegan items. It was hard to tell what was vegan and what wasn't. Silantro was a fun experience that I was glad I had. They offer vegan options that taste great and were filling. More labels and options and this is a five star restaurant. read more

Tried it for the first time and was not really impressed. It was kind of just average , not terrible at all but just average bland food . I ordered the bowl with brown rice and steak , the cucumber kimchi needed spice and flavor , the seaweed salad was good and the coconut curry sauce was decent . My boyfriend ordered the steak and rice bowl also with corn , kimchi and other veggies and he agreed with the blandness of the food . Also , if the server can't understand what you're asking for do not point over the counter, you'll be told to please keep your hands back . Good grief it's not fine dining so relax kids . Overall it was decent but just bland with no flavor and zero spice and their topping options don't compare to Cava or PokeBowl Station . My family and I came walking from our hotel nearby and saw some pictures of the food, and we wanted to try it out. It was incredible from start to finish. We were recommended different protein and flavor pairings and the staff even worked with and was patient with our 4-year-old in her order which she enjoyed as well. Finally, I let them decide my bowl which was incredible as well. He then followed up and checked on us mid-meal to figure out if we were enjoying our meal. I come to Lancaster almost always because of shopping at the outlets and perhaps some touristy things along Rt. 30.  I've been too lazy to take a detour downtown to give Silantra a try.  On this day, I made it a point to check it off my list. Service as far as placing our orders was superb.  It was mid afternoon around 3 pm and many restaurants would be closed until dinner; I was so glad they have continuous service.  Also, online orders via GrubHub do not inflate the menu price more than a dollar, unlike with other restaurants. You can also physically order at the "window" at the restaurant. That's a plus because I know not many restaurants do that due to the pandemic.  We paid online but arrived 20 minutes early. The staff on duty said no problem, she's started my order and should take just 5 more minutes. She even offered to take my order to my car! It's another "build-your-own" establishment. We had the steak "bing" --essentially a burrito with an Asian spin in terms of add-ons. The wrap itself is not like sushi burrito at Kondu in Harrisburg where a sheet of seaweed is used; it's not the Mexican tortilla either. They wrap it with some springy scallion "crepe" (more fitting than pancake imo) and I loved it.  It kind of reminds me of the wraps we had during Chinese New Year back in Asia.  They do have a bowl option which is what I normally do at Moe's and Chipotle, but I'd recommend bing here just to experience the different wrap. We opted for coconut white rice as base. The options for add-ons are rather limited but that made ordering easy.  Seaweed salad and edamame stood out during tasting in a good way.  Finally for the sauce/dressing, my wife had sesame ginger and I had garlic chili aioli.  Both were good. The chili aioli wasn't too spicy so don't be afraid to try it.  Serving size was big and it was a bit messy to eat near the end; we literally had to stuff our face! Overall, we got what we came for. Based on the reviews, I was expecting a cute chic restaurant. When I walked up (outside), I saw their large menu sign... peculiar, but okay. When I walked in, it was like the air went out of a balloon... it's a bit dark & dingy - it almost feels as if they're not quite in business. The employee wasn't welcoming. Even though there were only 2 people ahead of me in line, it took a while. And I didn't get the sense that my presence (as a customer) was appreciated. The menu is as simple as the sign outside. This place was really good. I walked in and didn't expect such a small operation. Got a chicken rice bowl with seaweed salad, edamame and corn mix, broccoli and teriyaki ginger sauce. Chicken was tasty and the sauce was less sweet and even better than expected. My kids really enjoyed it also. We also got a steak bing with less rice and more broccoli, seaweed salad, edamame and corn mix and curry sauce. It was also tasty but the bing was not that desirable. It was a little doughy and was cooked fast that I'm not sure it was cooked through. If they could get the bing to crisp up a little, the bite and the assurance that it was cooked through would make this a five star experience. It would also be helpful to have some pre tested bowls on the menu. It would def speed up the slow process. Employees were nice - but it was very slow. Silantra Asian Street Kitchen is a short walk from the Lancaster County Convention Center. It follows the common Chipotle formula, but doesn't have the Chipotle restaurant modern "look". Interior is a little worn but not in a bad way, more of a "reused this" situation. Ordering is super easy as they walk you through the process. Went with a bowl, which was a nice size. Silantra's Burrito shined. They serve burritos in a setup very similar to Chipotle. You pick your wrap, protein, toppings a sauce. Everything is fresh and mad flavorful. I got the Chicken wrap with Teriyaki sauce. The experience starts with a kitchen-prepared wrap that's almost like a crepe. It's slightly spongy (in a pleasant way, not like Ethiopian bread), with a very pleasant soft mouthfeel. It wraps the interior of the burrito like a blanket, much superior to the floury Chipotle wrap. Special toppings impressed. Seaweed salad added a complex flavor and crisp mouthfeel. Onions and peppers added freshness. Coconut infused rice gave the wrap subtle cool flavor. The chicken was freshly grilled, well-marinated, and executed perfectly. Their garlic teriyaki was not overpowering, but gave the burrito a uniquely Asian flavor theme that balanced off well with a dipping sauce of kitchen-made spicy mayo. I met both owners during my visit. Both were genuinely friendly, concerned about my dining experience, and proud of their food. They should be. They clearly pay close attention to detail and have created a food experience that rivals any of the greats I've had in the course of my food travels. Well done, Silantra. read more

I'm a fan...My teenage client was a fan...and my meat and potatoes coworker was a fan! I had a tofu bowl with the yellow curry sauce. Very flavorful! The coconut rice was scrumptious and all the fresh vegetables I added to my bowl were delicious. Initially I wanted the portobello instead of the tofu but I was told that they "had to cook more" but didn't appear to be an option so I went with tofu as my base. Turned out quite well! Tofu had great texture, great flavor and was a great compliment to the curry sauce. The burrito was wrapped in a freshly made thin scallion pancake wrap and it looked marvelous! We all enjoyed our meals, our pockets weren't emptied and I even had a little leftovers to bring home. If I happen to end up in downtown Lancaster again, Silantra is already bookmarked!
