At first I was recommending because they were supposedly good. Then they claimed I was scammed. The person I got did a good job. The way I see it is this: I probably got a company that didn't have business and decided to use Chelmsford Garage Door's name and reputation as a way to get business. It wasn't like they claimed they were Chelmsford Garage Door. I didn't ask. Plus I called the number given to me on their Google Profile. They did a good job replacing my garage door (it was aging and needed to be replaced). Maybe I paid a bit more but I'm not dissatisfied. But after the Chelmsford Garage Door owner gave me such an attitude that made me feel like I'm an idiot, I'm no longer going to go to them, or the supposedly "scammer" business. I will take my business elsewhere if I ever need garage door repair services. Also, seems really random for the owner to contact me after I recommended them on Facebook about the supposed scammer when I wasn't even ruining their reputation. I was literally recommending them to everyone. I'd have understood her reaching out to me if someone recommended them and I started saying they were bad. Either way: don't go to them because their attitude sucks. I don't mind paying a bit more if it means the guy is courteous, helpful, respectful, and reliable. read more

Now that's what I call first class professional service. I had just had what I now believe was scam garage door service by a company claiming they were located in Chelmsford. The problem was not fixed. I spoke with Theresa at Chelmsford Garage Door who was so sympathetic and soon had her son Andrew at my property (in the company van with their logo and phone numbers). He talked me through all his findings and quickly had the work done and my system humming. Lesson learned. Use local services wherever possible and take all measures to be sure they are who they claim. read more

I have used them 3-4 times over the years and they have always been (1) prompt, (2) courteous, and (3) fast. Hard to tell if they are expensive, as this is an area I have (fortunately) little experience, but it sometimes feels that the ratio of billable amount to hours of work is a on the high side. I had 2 very good experiences with Chelmsford Garage Door. I had visited their website and thought I would give them a try, so I sent them a message. I was responded to pretty quickly, and it was even late in the day (around 4 pm). They said they could get some one out in within the week and I asked if Thursday around 9:00am would work. The receptionist was super nice even late in the day. They said they could fit me. they arrived about 5 minutes early on that Thursday (which I appreciated, no one wants to wait around for this kind of stuff). They gave me a quote on a beautiful garage door that I had picked out and then scheduled me for the install. They arrived to install it on my next appointment. It has now been six months and it is still working perfectly. Absolutely no complaints with this company, 5 stars from me! read more

Dealing with them on the phone to set up the service call was just awful. I needed a garage door serviced for a property that I rent out. I spoke with them and left it that I would have my tenant call back to schedule the service when someone would be home. Two days later, my tenant called me to say that she left 2 messages and no one called her back. I then tried contacting them. I personally left three messages that did not get returned. My last message was clear that I was frustrated and would have to go elsewhere if they won't talk to me. I finally called one more time and the woman who answered was rude, telling me she had since spoken to my tenant and felt she was being responsive. I pointed out that's not true because I left three messages that went unanswered upon which she got angry saying she went "above and beyond" to try and get this service call scheduled. I held my breath and let it go since the service call was already scheduled. The work they did was good and it was a fair price. It's a shame that seemingly good service on the door itself was marred by horrible customer service on the scheduling. It left a very bad taste in my mouth. Next time I'll call Sears. read more

The worst customer service I think I've ever had! Service appointment was 8:30-9:30, and at 9:45 nobody had shown up, so I left a message on the main number. Then I called the alternate number, which was the service guy's cell phone. He called right back, and when I asked politely when he could estimate arriving, he said he had already been there and left an estimate (for the wrong thing) in the front door, which we never use. I said I had been home from 8:15-9:45, and he said "well, where were you when I was ringing the doorbell at 8?" I had to take my daughter to daycare, I said, and I was back well before the appointment time. He said "well, I didn't know you had to take your daughter to daycare", instead of apologizing for the situation and setting up a reschedule date. I said I was quite unhappy and needed to go to work, and hung up. He called up and kept being incredibly rude, and hung up on me. I hope he's the owner, because he just lost about $3000 worth of work. We wanted to completely replace our 1964 garage door with something architecturally beautiful. read more
