I stayed here at The Chelsea for work for 5 nights and Almost everything was fine. The room was very basic, but clean and mostly quiet and the bed and shower were fine as well. The restaurant was OK too, I had a burger one night and it was fine as well. The front desk staff were pleasant and there were no problems checking in either. The only big let down came later when, coincidentally, a colleague and I both accidentally each left something in our rooms. When we called multiple times to try and get our things back they said they didn't have either item. So yes it's our fault for forgetting items but it's possibly aShady or Lazy house keeping department that doesn't make any attempt to reunite people with their items. read more

Wow, I am kind of very sad we spent our vacation with this hotel for how much we paid. Based on their website photos of nice, new, clean rooms and what we were told by the front desk, there's borderline false advertising, so think twice if you're planning to stay at Chelsea Hotel. There is A TON of room for improvement! When booking, we requested a newer, updated room. When checking in, the front desk confirmed we would get an updated room, and when we walked into our room.... It was sadly very old and frankly unclean. Hotels misleading customers is not a good thing. If you need to use the Red elevators to get to your room, you likely have an old room. The bathroom fan turns on if the lights are on and was so incredibly loud that we wore ear plugs when we were in the restroom (except for showering of course). It was not entirely clean upon check in-- there were pieces of dried rice on the floor and a large greasy hand mark on the bed headboard (yikes!!). That was not cleaned off until we requested it to be on the third day. After our room was serviced, our bed was made with sheets that visibly had holes... awesome. Don't even think about using the balcony, as ours likely wasn't cleaned in a few years and was encrusted in dried pigeon poop. The amenities are quite poor. High speed wifi? Nope, it was extremely slow and kept disconnecting. We called the front desk to try and troubleshoot without avail, and it was frankly excruciating to try browsing anything on our phones. There's no refrigerator, and outlets are not very accessible (there's only 1 charging outlet accessible from the bed). We were excited to work out but discovered the gym is in the pool area = very humid (and chlorine-smelly) = not at all great for working out, so we never used the gym. The even sadder thing? The hotel reached out asking how our stay was going on the second day and we raised our concerns to them but never received a reply. Guess how we were doing was not a genuine concern.... It would be nice to get a reply to know that hospitality was their priority. On the positive side, it was air conditioned and the bed was comfortable. There was an express check out / key drop to avoid their never-ending lines at the front desk. The only true plus and saving grace is that the location of the hotel is convenient, just a few blocks from the subway station and with tons of restaurants nearby to choose from. I don't give out many 1 star reviews but Chelsea Hotel was literally the worst hotel experience I've had that I can remember. Bottom line-- I would most definitely recommend choosing elsewhere if there's an option until they have all their rooms renovated and improve their amenities. read more

Well, first we were told we wouldn't be served any drinks because we were "too out of it" yet we hadn't had a single drink at all. I ordered mussels, and Im seriously worried if I am going to be sick later. The service was atrocious. The place looked really nice when we went in and were sat down. The Dill aoli tasted like it was scraped off the floor. I have eaten in diners, dives and Michelin star restaurants. I have been around the globe in both directions. I am fully aware of what certain food should taste like. This place should rid themselves of the chef and find someone competent, and train the servers. This hotel is located in a great area! We were able to walk to a lot of places from the hotel. The hotel itself is very large. They have a parking garage but we were able to find cheaper parking on spot hero. The lobby is very large and has a Resturant, event space, gift shop, etc. the check in process took a whileeee so beware. The room itself was fine. It had the basics that we needed for a weekend. It also had a little balcony which was nice. I was nervous to stay here based on the other reviews, but we truly didn't mind this hotel and I'm low key a hotel snob. Lol read more

Stupidly I didn't look at yelp when I booked. A complete rip off. A 2/3 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star. No mini bar, no room service, $39 to park overnight in their OWN carpark. $35 breakfast. Unfortunately a lot of the staff have broken English so it's not always clear what they're charging for. Small rooms with no view. Grubby bathtub. And all for over $300 a night. They should be ashamed of themselves. They also too $150 from my credit card for the parking. They knew we were only staying one night so where's the balance over over $100? Stayed here recently and it was okay. For the price it is a bit underwhelming, but everything is pricey anymore. Room was mostly clean, balcony was a mess due to pigeons. Staff were quick at off peak times, but the lobby gets very crowded around regular check in/out times. Free popcorn though which is nice. Overall it was acceptable and okay, neither great nor bad. We booked through booking.com and you never know exactly what room you will get. We were able to check in early 12:30 with no issues and got a room on the 24th floor! Parking is easy and secure. The Chelsea hotel is a one star at best. After walking around beautiful Toronto all day, came back to my room and wanted to get cleaned up for dinner. Walked in the bathroom turned on the shower and this is what I saw. Absolutely disgusting. Went downstairs and spoke with the manager he replied, "would you like me to send maintenance up". This is the largest hotel in Canada because there are 1,590 guest rooms and suites. There are convention rooms (on the second floor), 3 restaurants (on the ground floor), a KidZone with 2 indoor pools and has an indoor water slide where one part goes outdoors. There is paid underground hotel parking. It is in the heart of downtown being close to Eaton Centre, Yonge-Dundas Square, movie theatres, other restaurants, etc. There is an outdoor courtyard where they can host outdoor activities like BBQ events. There are two main towers. One was renovated after 2010 so is more modern but the other tower looks very dated. It was opened 1975-10-15 and operated by Delta Hotels as Delta Chelsea Inn. On 2012-12-19, it was purchased by Great Eagle Holdings and was changed to Delta Chelsea Toronto and under control of its subsidiary Langham Hospitality Group. On 2013-07-01, it was renamed Eaton Chelsea. In early 2015, it was rebranded as Chelsea Hotel. Being near several downtown hospitals, a patient of the hospital can pay a reduced rate. The hotel hosts many air crews. One of the check-in counters has stairs with 3 steps where young guests can check-in. During the Dec holiday period, there are holiday-related displays including a gingerbread house contests where guests anonymously vote for their favourite design. Going around the houses is an electric train. There is a Santa Claus during the month of Dec where you can take pictures for free. The line is never more than 2 long. Throughout the year, they have hand out free popcorn and/or soft drinks. There is free WiFi. There are washrooms on the ground floor. I needed a one night stay in Toronto and, despite the low star reviews on here, I decided to book the Chelsea Hotel because it has a central location and I got a room for about $100 USD. I booked a standard room with one queen sized bed and it was exactly what I needed for a one night stay. The bed was comfortable. The shower could have had better water pressure, but it wasn't terrible. The room itself was a bit too warm for my preference and I tried to lower the temp using the thermostat and turning the fan on, but instead of any air conditioning, lukewarm air just came out. I opened up the balcony door to let in the cold air from outside instead, but of course couldn't leave it open overnight. Other small issues: no vent/fan in the bathroom, so if you take long showers, it's going to get really steamy. Ice machine on my floor was broken, as were the two floors above and one below. Finally found one that worked two floors below (they're remodeling parts of the hotel and I assume this is why so many were out of order). The cold water handle in the bathroom sink didn't fully turn "off," to stop the water flow I had to move it to a very specific spot or else it would keep leaking. Check in line was very long and a friend who has also stayed here said that's common. Staff was friendly, though. That all sounds pretty bad, but considering I only paid $100 USD for one night, I'm not too upset. If I was staying longer I would have addressed some of these issues with the staff to see if they could be remedied. But overall, if you're looking for a decent hotel that's located downtown within walking distance of a lot of attractions, this is an A-ok spot. read more

I stayed a weekend at Chelsea hotel in Toronto for a work conference. My initial entry , I had hard time to understand my attendant at the check in, since I am sharing my room with coworkers; I wanted to make sure the bills can be split. It was so complicated for the guy, finally we came to understand each other better. Don't get me wrong, he was super nice. The language barrier was an issue between us. The reception area is humongous and beautiful. The elevators are old and little run down. I stayed on the 19th floor. The hallway were very spooky. My room was far from the elevators, i felt I would never reach to my room. Finally, I entered my room, which had two standard beds, and a washroom. The room was pretty, clean and tight. Anyway, the washroom was clean and well functioning. Beds were very comfortable. The room has thin walls, therefore the noise from neighbors and from the street was too disturbing. Initially, the conference/Chelsea hotel provided us pretty dry food buffet for breakfast and lunch (croissants, muffins, fruits with coffee and tea, then sandwiches with salad, and mini brown sugar tarts. Thankfully, evening buffet supper was hearty with salmon, roasted vegetables, and pilaf. On my last day, at breakfast, there were breakfast sandwiches with meat only. I was disappointed since I am a vegetarian. Eva who is bringing out food from the kitchen, I asked if there is a vegetarian option, she was so nice, she said, she will get a vegan sandwich, I can sit down and she will bring to my table. And she did, a huge bow to Eva for being so nice and she took care of my hungry belly. As for the amenities, I enjoyed their pool on the deck, i was able to some laps then soaked myself in their hot whirlpool, which was super relaxing. I've stayed at this hotel a few times but years ago and recently visited again. We were able to check in over an hour earlier than the stated 3pm. The overnight parking is very expensive at around $44 with tax and it's from 2pm-2pm with unlimited in and out. I didn't really have any issues with our room, it seemed clean enough and what I expected for the price. The TV is very outdated and very small. It said there was chrome cast but it didn't work. One of the biggest downsides was that the wifi was unusable. Luckily I have data and didn't stay for long but I can't imagine staying here and needing the wifi. We went to the pool which was actually nice. We asked for slippers or robes beforehand and were told they were unavailable but everyone at the pool had them so not sure if they reserve it for guests who had bigger rooms. The biggest upside is the location of the hotel, you couldn't be any closer to the downtown core and everything you need. But the location also brings some questionable people in the area and in the hotel. read more

First impression: Inelegantly old and inexplicably overpriced. We walked into a room with only 1 bed so we requested a cot for our child, since there wasn't even a decent sized sofa for her to sleep on. They gave us the option of a $20 one time charge or an upgrade to two doubles for $15/night. Ah well, at least an upgrade would get us a better room than the sad little 7th floor one we were currently calling from, right? No such luck. The 12th floor room was just as depressing, the RR lights just as dingy, and the carpet as well equipped to hide dirt and mustard stains as the 7th floor carpeting. Its redeeming qualities were its central downtown location, the amazing views, separate indoor pools for adults (27th floor) and children (2nd), in which there was a thrilling slide (according to DH), life vests, pool noodles, and a whirlpool. Outside the swimming area are an arcade and a dry play area for small children. And like another Yelper mentioned, on our last of 2 nights, the fire alarm sounded for about 30 minutes, with intermittent announcements about investigations into an incident on the 2nd floor. People on floors 1, 2, and 3 were evacuated while everyone else was told to stay in their rooms. This was after 10 pm. On the one hand we were ready for bed, it was getting chilly outside, and we would've had to go down 12 floors. On the other hand, my child is freaking out and I'm standing on the balcony gauging our chances of survival if we had to jump or climb down. Last impression was the same as my first, but a little more tempered by time, distance, and the comfort of writing this from my own bed. read more

The front desk staff was very friendly, and answered my questions about parking. I got a corner room, spacious with a balcony. Too bad it is the middle of winter. I can see Yonge-Dundas Sq from my room window. Also, the CN Tower was visible from my room. Very nice at night. The room was clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a good Bar-Restaurant the T|Bar and a Market Garden on the Go, Expresso & Wine Bar. That are open until Midnight. The Bathroom needs upkeep. The ceiling paint was about to peel and caulking around the sink counter was cracked. The Hotel gets packed with airlines crews. Reception and lobby gets long check in - check out lines. On Saturday, June 25, 2022, four (4) friends and I had a reservation to stay one (1) night in Chelsea's Family Fun Suite. During our stay, we experienced unsatisfactory service levels. Below is a detailed recount of the experience. My friends and I reserved the Family Fun Suite specifically for the space it allowed us, particularly the room arrangements. We arrived to the hotel at 2:30 pm ET, and attempted an early check-in. Understandably, we were told the room wasn't available, and to check in at 3:00 pm ET, which is the time indicated on the reservation. I returned to the check-in desk at 3:10 pm ET, and was told once more that the room wasn't available. It appeared as if they hadn't started cleaning the room. I'm bewildered by the fact that they didn't catch this at 2:30 pm ET, when I first attempted to check in. I was told to go to the side as the employee sorted the logistics. We asked for another space, as we had a planned evening starting at 4:30 pm ET, and they agreed to provide us with a temporary standard room. Needless to say, five (5) women preparing for an evening in a standard room was far from ideal, and far from what we paid for. At 3:45 pm ET, we gained access to the temporary room - 45 minutes after the 3:00 pm ET check-in time. At this time, still uncertain of when we'd receive access to the Family Fun Suite. We awkwardly rushed to get ready in the temporary room. We left for the evening at 4:10 pm ET, and received a phone call at 4:18 pm ET that the Family Fun Suite was available. During the phone call, the employee's communication convened urgency to change rooms. As a result, a friend and I decided to immediately return and change rooms, which resulted in being late for our dinner reservation. If it had not been for the urgency expressed in the phone call, we would not have returned so quickly. Furthermore, due to the loss in time, we were unable to experience the hotel's amenities - such as the much-anticipated waterslide, which was another reason why we chose the Chelsea Hotel Toronto. I will not return, nor will I recommend that others visit. I emailed the hotel immediately following our stay, and their lack of customer service remains evident. I requested a partial refund, which they've denied as their records indicate a lack of inconvenience given we checked into the Family Fun Suite at 4:36 pm ET. read more

Well, I thought I was getting a luxury hotel and was definitely bamboozled. The lobby is very nice and modern. It's up to date with a great ambiance. But when I got to the room, I was taken back by the decor and the rustic feel. The hotel is very expensive and the rooms didn't match the price paid. The room was giving Motel 6 and I paid for high end quality. I wouldn't waste your money booking....unless it's your last option. When I think of the Chelsea Hotel, I harken back to a long forgotten movie, "Beyond the Forest" where legend Bette Davis' character looks around and exclaims, "What. A. Dump!" No hotel has gotten off to such of a wrong foot (at least in my experience): A dingy, labyrinth of an underground garage with horror-movie yellow lights and limbo-stick low clearance that assures you'll be leaving the SUV at home. For a hotel guest, the rate is a stunning $27 per day. Then came a check-in line that took 30 MINUTES to get through (!) and their mish-mash of poorly organized velvet ropes led to a verbal brouhaha in the lobby. Guys, if any time is right to have people working each computer, it's when your lobby looks take a riot scene! The rooms have a great view and the bedding is good. The hallways, however, have a look and odor I haven't smelt since a debauched weekend I spent at a mediocre Vegas hotel. The friggin WiFi didn't work. And wasn't fixed. And the toilet (when flushed) was so loud I was left with post-concert ear-ringing I haven't had since a AC/DC concert 20+ years ago. The Chelsea Hotel name carries gravitas, as the NYC counterpart is the stuff of legend. Toronto's Chelsea Hotel fails to live up to that name. As the largest hotel in all of Canada, it also lets down a whole nation. It is, however, in a great location, has a great pool, and, well, is the Chelsea Hotel. read more

We stayed at this hotel on Labor Day weekend. I stayed with my husband and two children 11 years old and 12 years old. On Sunday morning I woke up with about a dozen bites that unfortunately I immediately knew was bedbugs, considering I am a social worker in the field and I've dealt with many clients who had bedbugs and knew what I was looking at. We immediately requested from the office to be moved to another hotel room and also asked for trash bags to bag up our belongings. Then during our vacation, we unfortunately had to drive around for hours to find a laundromat and then find Canadian money to be able to do our laundry with. It was not how I envisioned spending our vacation time. When approaching the front desk requesting a refund for our stay, we were told that they could only reimburse us for one night although we stayed for three, they told us that RCI through where we paid for our hotel room would have to be the ones to refund us. The hotel said they would waive us the one night that they gave us a new room. Upon talking to RCA today they also told me that they are not held liable for bedbugs, and that only falls on the hotel. It is over one week later, and I am highly disappointed, as I am still dealing with the ripple effects of the bedbug bites. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction and ended up with large welts on my arms and hands. I paid for a decent priced hotel room, had to pay extra money for laundry, lost time on my vacation, now have lost time at work having to attend doctors appointments due to this allergic reaction and I'm also having to take medication. The hotel shows as a 4 star hotel on Google, but they're a 3 star hotel. I asked for a bottle of water for the room and they refused to provide any water, and told me the restaurant is closed and I have to find somewhere to but a bottle. They event went so far as to say "we don't provide water in Canada"!!!! I never write reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences of my life. The thermostat in our hotel was broken. Initially was told that it was the circuit breaker. The next day, they told us "it was reversed," whatever that means. When we tried to call the front desk from our room, we were placed on hold for over 10-15 minutes. Very centrally located to downtown. Jonathan at the front desk was STELLAR when we needed a little extra help. Kid friendly - except the restaurants. Had a great waitress at the sit down pub located inside the hotel who did her best to accommodate a 10-year old and would give her 5-stars if that was an option. Very disappointed in the breakfast options - paid $44 for a light breakfast and single cup of coffee due to very unclear signage on what was considered in pricing options. There are three Tim Hortons and other deli type breakfast places nearby if you don't mind walking a couple of blocks. If you're driving here, make sure to plan for parking fees and take notice of the 5'5" clearance to enter the underground ramp. We came here for those murder mystery dinner, so this review doesn't really reflect the hotel for its room and related service. From the outside, the hotel seems to be very old. Not sure how long it's been there. It is a very busy hotel, at times seem chaotic, but the front desk was able to help us Fairly quickly to where we want to go. There seems to be many levels with colour- coded elevators leading to many places. It also seems to be a hotel that host a lot of activities. The only thing I have to say is that the air seems a bit stale. The murder mystery dinner was hosted by "mysteriously yours" I suspect they prob rent dining hall from Chelsea Hotel and have them cater the buffet. The buffet was of generous portion, pretty tasty though quite standard selection of food (3 types of salad, steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, 2 proteins).
