3 times I've been. One time I was acknowledged. One time the server literally walked by me several times ans even poured herself a drink while I was being ignored. The owner sat in a little corner booth watching ans literally not addressing the situation. (I found out later she was the owener.) The food is ok. Had a very enjoyable lunch in an relaxing atmosphere. We split the American burger and had a side salad. The side salad was huge and very fresh. Erica was a great waitress - attentive and friendly. The Aloha burger was excellent and I subbed onion rings instead of fries. Husband and nephew loved the street tacos. This place is quite a hidden gem. The staff is super friendly, the place is clean with a fun vibe that's good for everyone from kids to adults. It is a little pricy if you're going for lunch but they do have a wide variety on their menu so there is something for everyone which is great. 1: For a non-smoking facility and the bartender be the manager, she sure does allow vaping. But I can guarantee you that if I lite a cigarette up, I would be kicked out of the restaurant. 2: If the vegetables can be held off of one burger, why not the other? My tipping is based on the attitude and body language of the waiter/waitress. Not on food. That is out of his/her control. This place is awesome! We just moved to Abilene and the first time we ordered take out. We went again last night and ate in. They have a great selection of drinks. I got the Mexican mule and it tasted so good! My husband got the blue Hawaiian. We ordered the jumbo mozzarella sticks and they were huge and full of cheese but still crispy. During a visit to Abilene, Texas, in December, 2023, our family was gathered together and hungry. A couple of us had been singing the praises of Chelsea's on South 14, so with caravan of hungry people we headed to Chelsea's. I arrived just a few minutes before the others. The place was busy, but within 5 minutes the staff had tables pulled together to seat all 12 of us. Food and drink were delicious, and the service by Deborah was amazing. So Chelsea replaced Holy Cow burger and it was a great move. Chelsea has got great quality hamburger and ingredients. The only issue I had was the burger was a little over cooked which made it dry. So Glenda and I tried the new Chelsea's for supper. A good menu, a bar, and live music on certain nights. Glenda said the carne asada street tacos were really good. I went for the Fire In The Hole burger, of course! When it came to the table, there was a jalapeño popper on top of the bun. I chowed it down and went after the burger. To my surprise, two more poppers under the meat. Yes! Throw in a layer of cream cheese and you've got a really good burger! As we were leaving, the 2 man band was just starting up. Why am I the one that always has to post bad reviews... But first my funny story. I grew up in Abilene, left as soon as I graduated high school in 88, with big hopes of never coming back (I've been struck by the Abilene curse) so in my mind, Chelsea's was still at the mall by the movie theater, guess what?! ITS NOT, joke was on me. I drove to the mall, which I hadn't been too in over 20 years, only to find out, by a a girl working in the theater they had moved to the present location, which was only 0.7 miles according to my phone, from my starting location. I felt like an idiot, but what's new? Now for the actual review. I arrived at the door at about 1:30pm on a Friday, (this takes us back to how I like to avoid crowds as I've gotten older, which you would find extremely odd if you knew me) so the place had maybe 10 people inside, mostly local business people talking business stuff, so my waiter had plenty of time to focus on serving me, and that he did. I ordered the Philly to see how it compares to the one at the United, with fries for the side. And this is when things went down hill. My server brought me my plate, which looked amazing, and hot, both are good things. I was happy, until I overheard the lady behind me state "I like them hard and stiff, this thing is hot and limp" The alpha male in me immediately turned my head to see who the soy drinking beta was she was complaining about, to find her holding a French fry daintily in her fingers with a scowl. I returned my gaze to my plate, to find out that she was right, as you can see in the photo, these are not properly cooked fry's. This was my first time here, so I don't know if this was a one time occasion, or if this is the sad reality of fry's at this Chelseys. My philly was the saving grace on my plate, kinda. IMO it could have used more meat, grilled onions and, cheese. The taste was good, it was just lacking in all the good stuff. Now the BREAD, on the other hand was really good, I don't know if they bake it there or if they have it trucked in, but the bread on my Philly was had a sweet almost honey taste too it, and was extremely soft and fresh. It's a nice clean place, staff was friendly, and my waiter was on the ball, even refilled my drink before I asked or even was empty. Think he did that twice, which is why he got a nice tip. For appetizer we got the Avocado Bombs which are bacon wrapped avocado with queso & chips. Don't get me wrong, it's as good as it sounds, but it's poorly designed. You have two slices of wrapped avocado in the middle of a pile of nachos. Would make more since if they were spread all over as a Loaded Nachos. For dinner I got the Al Pastor Machete which is a huge quesadilla! It's good in flavor and feeds 2-3 people. My father got the Aloha Pineapple Burger which I had some bites of and its unique. The BBQ and pineapple are quite complimentary. When I walked in I was a bit confused as I wasn't sure if I picked my seats or you get seated. This restaurant would make a bit more sense to order at the counter instead of sit down waiter service. Good food. Good prices. Service is quick. Overall I was satisfied. read more

I want to like this place... I really, REALLY do .. because the food is pretty good. If I was judging on that it's easily 4-5 stars. But the service is always, always AWFUL. I have tried three times to eat in here, and each time I've had problems. Today I ordered entrees to go. They came out on plates. I chalked it up to me not being clear. So I waited for our waiter to check on us so I could explain... 20 minutes later he finally came around (after I watched all the servers sit, play on their cell phones, chit chat, etc). I got to-go boxes for my (now) cold food. But I had another burger I ordered at the same time that wasn't ready yet. That's about 35 minutes worth of cooking time and waiting time for food to not be ready...? This place really needs better management or more training or something. read more

My family and I ate from here for the first time tonight, and we were not disappointed! I had the "Bomb" burrito with shrimp instead of steak and it was good! The cheese sticks are unbelievable! They are huge, and the Al Pastor Frys were full of flavor and also huge! The saying about things being "Bigger in Texas" has been proven true so far. On a less positive note though, we did take out so by the time we got to our destination, the frys were a little soggy, but not to the fault of the restaurant. Hopefully yall dont have to make as many loops as we did to get back to the room. The restaurant was clean and styled nicely. I appreciated how you could see straight into the kitchen, nothing is hidden. The modern music and good food made a nice experience. I definitely recommend this place if it's not too busy... you might call it a less fancy/expensive version of Red Robin (but I like this place better)! Their portion sizes are fair, the prices seem pretty reasonable and they have plenty of TV's to watch whatever sport may be on! We were some of the first people there on a Sunday after church so they weren't too busy and the service was friendly and very good! I had the Whiskey River Chicken Wrap on a spinach tortilla (grilled chicken smothered in whiskey BBQ sauce, Pico de Gallo, shredded cheese, tortilla chips, and romaine lettuce). It's a 12" tortilla so like an 8" wrap but with the fries it was plenty for lunch. It could've used a bit more and thicker sauce / BBQ flavor but I added Chipotle Tabasco sauce! I normally prefer fries a little on the crispy side but these were still good even though a bit soft... not over salted which I appreciate! They also have large cups so you don't have to ask for 20 refills! I've only been here a few times but have tried a burger, tacos and a salad, all of which were very good! read more

So, Chelsea's was a wonderful experience The food came out quickly, looked awesome, was fresh and hot, and was as ordered. Our compliments to the cook! Machete was crazy good, tons of food! I liked the friendly small town bar vibe, it looked like the kind of place that the servers become friends with the customers similar to the place where I work at as a server.
