This place is a nice music venue. Glad that the area has a nice large music venue that should be able to draw some larger performances from time to time. The bar has decent beers on tap. The food however is just meh. Last time I got food there the "shrimp cocktail" was basically cold small salad shrimp in a glass of cocktail sauce with some saltine crackers. The "lobster Mac n cheese" that costs $6 is basically Kraft macaroni and cheese out of a box and a lump of some generic lobster meat. Not really mixed in there, it's one lump with Kraft Mac n cheese. Haven't tried too much else of the food so far. Would recommend for music shows. Wouldn't be your first choice for dinner though. There's plenty of parking space out back, maybe they should invite food trucks to use the space. read more

Wow the food is great . This place brings bands to perform ambiance is calm with a band itll be loud and busy , but it's great . Have been to Abilene quite a few times but dining choices are limited. Had all day to pick last nights dining spot, had a inkling for oysters of the half shell and Potosi had them on the menu. We arrived at 6:30pm, was told that there were no table available only bar top so we bellied up to the bar! The female bartender was wearing lots of hats and aprons! We ordered fresh and grilled oysters to start with! Both were excellent. The Blackened Salmon was okay, would of be better if it hadn't been so thin, Beans and French Fries were very good. I had the chicken fried steak with baked potato and grilled vegetables. Hats off to the grill master on the Vegetables! Poor little potato was loaded but DRY, my fault though because I didn't rectify the situation. The Chicken Fried steak was nice and hearty next time I will ask for more gravy. Can't wait to return for some more oysters!!!!! read more

Love the way it looked and the way it was set up walking in! The vibe was was so much fun and the live music was bad ass. All the food looked amazing. A great spot for a "Saturday night for the boy", take your significant other to or bring the whole family and have a great time. To start it off we made a reservation for our family of 5 at 3pm on a Sunday, the greeter sat us at a 4 person table and didn't offer an additional chair so we moved ourselves to a bigger table. For the first 40 mins we were the only people in the whole entire place. The waitress came and only brought 4 things of silverware even though there was 5 of us. She asked our children what they wanted to drink, they asked her what they offered and there was no response she just stared at them waiting for a response. We weren't given any menus when we arrived, we had to ask the waitress for them. My husband sat with an empty beer for almost 10 mins before she came to ask if he'd like another one. The waitress was more worried about playing/texting on her phone then taking care of us. We ordered our lunches and 3 of the 5 orders were wrong. I ordered a blue cheese burger and they brought out a regular cheeseburger. My husband ordered a chicken fried steak and the salt flavor was SO OVERPOWERING , that he couldn't finish it. THIS MAN CAN EAT, never picky and it made his stomach churn. Maybe if she focused more on taking care of her customers then her phone she wouldn't of gotten the order wrong. The food is ok, definitely have had better at other places. More training and less phone play could make this a 5 establishment. The customer should be more important than whatever you got going on with your cell phone! read more

Potosi Live was a SOLID 5 star experience. I'll explain later. They took the 4 of us to a table for 10. What? The second table was dirty. Third table we kept. Colby was our waiter. He was fantastic. Good job young man! Music started 5 minutes later. LOUD! We were the table in the far back of the room. We could barely hear each other talk. When the food came out, we were all impressed. Everything was delicious! I love a shrimp boil and they did a great job at a great price. I will definitely get it again. There was plenty of staff to keep everyone happy. We certainly enjoyed the live music, and will go back again for the dueling piano night. Now, why 4 stars? The music was just too loud. So loud that you could recognize the song, but not understand the lyrics. Just talking across the table was a pain. This is probably just fine later in the night, but not early evening. We had a great time and great food. We will definitely go back, but I'll check the calendar for nights with no live music. See ya! read more

BAR REVIEW MAY 22, 2021 Sat at the bar for 20 minutes with one female bartender passing me by 4 times without even an attempt to take my order. When I called out for her attention, she chastised me for interrupting. After another 5 minutes she took my order. I asked her to start a tab and she said we can't do that tnite. Fast forward 20 minutes, I came to the bar and stood for 15 minutes without anyone asking to take my order. I did get one bartenders attention and asked for a beer when she got a chance. She indicated she would get right to it. After another 15 minutes and no beer or anyone asking me to take my order or even acknowledging me, I left. Not good Potosi!!! read more

Came for work lunch. Started with stuffed jalepino and Mac n cheese balls, both were good. Then had a beer or 2, kind of disappointed in the choices, kind of thought they would have a wider selection. I had the brisket sandwich, a little dry needed a little more sauce, fries are good. Others had the A1 burger, 1 guy liked it as is the other said his needed more A1. Next I'll have to go for the music. read more

Server Annie was wonderful. Fried catfish was awful. It was about 10 fish nuggets that were 90% crunchy batter & 10% fish. It had no fish taste. Love the venue itself- great space for large groups and live music, but the service is horrible! I have been to Potosi Live on a number of occasions, each time, hoping for a better experience! Last week, I waited 20 minutes for waters for the table, then another 45 just to have our drink order taken. Food comes out at random times. The drinks are hit or miss- guess it depends on the bartender. I ordered a chilton, which they put artificial lemon in- YUCK! The whole point of the drink is fresh lemon! My friends and family have decided enough is enough. We won't be giving them ANOTHER chance. Very sad. read more

Grabbed a quick lunch here today on the way to the doctors. They are only open Thursday through Saturday. My husband got the fried catfish and was very happy with his meal. I ordered the black and salmon and for my taste, it was a little bit too much seasoning on the salmon, so I only ate one of the two generous pieces. The hush puppies are rather bland, and could either use some sugar or some other pizzazz. The royal vegetables were a bit to seasoned also for my taste, but were good. When we walked into this place it was rather cool looking. It is quite impressive. In where you eat there is a dj area where they control the music. Then they have a stage for performers at night. Great space. Definitely more of an event venue with food rather than a restaurant with entertainment. Not sure what it is like at lunch but for a dinner crowd before the band took the stage the piped music made conversation at the table really difficult, if not impossible. Service was good but it was obvious they were a bit short staffed which is par for the course right now. Food was decent but everything on the menu was overpriced by about $1.00 or so considering the size of the portions though there were plenty of fries. I'd say out of the six meals at the table the catfish and the chicken fried steak were the best. The grilled chicken sandwich, the brisket sandwich and the brisket burrito were on the small side. Brisket had good flavor but was a smidge dry. Not as good as when it was JoJo's Barbecue in this same location. That being said no one ordered the seafood specialties and the crawfish boil at the table next to us was huge. Verdict--make the drive from Abilene for the show on the schedule but not necessarily for the food. read more
