I wasn't sure what to make of this place from what I'd read online, but I was in Abilene for a while and the Friday gathering at my event clearly didn't have the kind of food that I'd consider "dinner", so I made my way over to this place down the road for a proper meal. I've seen more than a few places of this sort, most notably the Fuddrucker's chain in Houston. A predominantly burger menu with other options, sides, milkshakes, desserts, etc. where you order your meal at a counter, fill up your drink at a station, and sit at big wooden tables, and run your little buzzer back to pick up your food. They have a great vibe that really seems to fit the area, and it looked like there was a playground area where families could bring their kids for a good time. Prices are a bit higher than I'd like-- it cost me almost $18 for a burger, a side, and a drink-- but it was still worth a visit. The only reason that I didn't give them the full five stars is that the service was a bit slow. I was waiting surprisingly long for a burger considering how fast some other orders came out, and it took a while to track someone down to get a to go box for my leftover side. read more

I ate at Blue Sky for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. The burger was seasoned perfectly and the ingredients were fresh. I ordered the onion rings, the whole reason I came here, and they were made just like my favorite hotdog spot back home in NY. There are so many burgers to choose from, and I'll 100% be back to try the mushroom Swiss next. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our trays were picked up right away to give us more space, and someone was cleaning tables quickly after other guests finished their meals. Everything felt clean and well taken care of. It was all great UNTIL I found a long hair in my burger yuck and then I thought maybe mine which is up in a messy bun. Then when I go to take it home left it out of the basket and bam a lot more hair no thanks besides that the building is clean and nice vibe. Service was very good also read more

Blue Sky used to be my favorite place to eat. At one time , I had more check ins than anyone. Then they changed their buns and the new buns are worse. Then something happened and their tator tots became so greasy they are now bad. Onion rings are pricey and nothing but grease. It is like watching a good friend die. You wish they could turn things around but Blue Sky doesn't seem to care. Good bye Blue Sky, we will miss you read more

This place was busy on a Sunday afternoon! The food was delicious, I would say slightly overpriced. They do not have combo options. For a cheeseburger, drink and side of small fries my total came out to over $18. Good food though, just wish it was a but more affordable. First, Yelp is wrong. They are not open on Mondays. Otherwise Yelp is correct. Except Burgers, fries and onion rings. Wednesday night it is Chicken fried steak and fries. First time here and ordered a cheeseburger and the meat was so charred I couldn't eat it, the bun was buttered but left on the grill a little too long and so it was hard :( burger did have good flavor I give it that! Fries were so greasy and tasted old. Sadly I won't come back again it but at least I tried something new read more

Came here with my family to eat after visiting the Zoo. We were greeted upon entry and started the task of figuring out our orders. Our food was ready in a timely manner and tasted so good. The burgers are pretty good. I always get the half and half rings and fries. Best onion rings in town in my opinion. I couldn't give this place 5 stars even though it can be great. Any time we have been at the restaurant on Wednesdays over the last 2 months the home fries and onion rings were cold. You will have to take your fries or onion rings back to the counter and tell them to get a replacement. I just don't feel you should have to do it. I can however say the Chicken Fried steak here is one of the best anywhere. They have great salads and a Greek Chicken Sandwich that are super. read more

The burgers are decent I guess. Nothing to rave about but decent. I've tried a few different burgers but they all basically taste the same no matter which you choose. The place usually seems clean and well kept which is why we have been back a few times. The coconut tea is definitely a fav! The staff for the most part seem friendly and smiling so that's another positive. All in all it's not bad. read more

Had to bring a group of school kids in just before they closed. I hated to do it but they were one of the only places still open after out contest. They took good care of us and smiled the whole way through. The kids always love the food and I was happy to get them fed quickly and back on the road. Very grateful. read more

I ordered a blue plate special last evening 7/20/2023, and it was anything but special. The worse meal I've had in a very long time. Threw half of it in the trash. Fries were limp and greasy, no real taste. The the steaks (hamburger meat) as they call them were over cooked & greasy about 1/4 in. thick. The smothered in Casio was enough for one piece of meat. The onions and jalapeños were in a little plastic ketchup holder. Hardly enough to taste. I'd hardly call it a blue plate special. It really was a disaster! Won't be going back! read more

First time here for me. My wife has been here before. We got the Texas cheese steak. Man is it good. The burgers look great. Can't wait to come back and try them. I got onion rings. They were ok. Not much batter - which is good - but they were pretty much grilled onion rings as the batter was coming off. We stopped on a Sunday about 4:30 and there was hardly anyone here. read more

Not many 5 star burger joints. Here it is!!! Service was fantastic. People at the counter were friendly and helpful. Place was clean with a couple games on the tv. The food is fantastic. My family and I wanted to give this place a try. First and foremost, I would have given this place more stars if the food was great, but their customer service was great! The workers are all nice even the guys bussing tables. Not many options besides burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, chips & queso. And chili fries. This is more a place for a quick simple meal. I had the chicken Cesar salad pretty simple but good. The burgers were ok according to my family but really greasy. The chili cheese fries, weren't anything special. Simple shredded cheese and looked like crumbled up hamburger patty's. It was pretty dry so I dipped it into the queso. I definitely think they should try different cheeses for the chili cheese fries and try having the burgers not so greasy. Everything is fried so, it doesn't sit well with the stomach if there's tons of grease to follow. I can see improvement there if they try. Besides, the workers are already great. read more

Asked if they had a veggie burger and was told that yes, they do. I asked for it plain with cheese. The disappointment when I lifted the bun was borderline hilarious until it wasn't. To try to make my meal better (if you could even call it a meal) I got a shake, which was mostly empty space and whipped cream. Really disappointing. I'm not sure why the previous guy is complaining. Prices are clearly stated on the menu. Tatter tots take longer to make so there is an upcharge which is clearly stated on the board outside. You don't come here for the tatter tots anyways. It's called blue sky burgers, fries and onion ringers. Sounds like this man is a competitor paid to leave a bad review. Cheeseburger w/ a side of Grilled Jalapeños!! Spicy and Delish. I had onion rings and the hubby had tater tots, both were tasty. The onion rings had a thin crust, which I like. Food is always great. Burgers are good. I usually get the green chili burger. Very good. Fries are good too. They use ground chuck. Never had a problem here. Have TVs to watch sports. Have some beers but not sure on which ones. Have an outdoor playground for the kids. I would recommend this place. read more

I started with the Strawberry Peach Tonic (Fruited Hard Seltzer) and she had a Bella Rose (Rosé IPA). Both were served in cool glasses, with mine being tall and skinny and hers being almost like a wine glass. Shocking to nobody, mine was quite fruity while her Rosé IPA was hoppy with an underlying rosé flavor. Next, I ordered their Oktoberfest (German Märzen) and she had their Season's End (Belgian Dubbel). She described her drink as tasting like a Biscoff cookie. My Oktoberfest was quite malty, and I was a big fan. To close, we both ordered their Luscent (Belgian Table Beer) because small beers are back in fashion and I wanted to try it. It was obviously very light but still had a good flavor that was very bready. Nice and easy to close out our drinks with. They also have food and coffee that we didn't try, but the food looked sensational from what we saw others eating. They also have plenty of board games and card games to play while you're at the brewery and many beers available to take to-go. My only minor complaint is the lack of TVs in the brewery. Maybe it's a purposeful decision, but Texas Tech was playing football, and it would be a great place to watch the game. The bartenders are very friendly and willing to let you try and sample as many beers as you need to make your decision. Grain Theory feels like the kind of place every small Texas city wishes it had.
