We decided to go on a last minute trip to Lake Tahoe and we were in need for a dog sitter. We found Chelsea online and even with our very last minute planning she was able to commit to taking care of our pup for 2 1/2 day as we had decided the night before. She's great! I got invited to a Giants Game. Being new to the area, I needed to find someone to check on my 5 year old Maltese and 12 week old puppy. Yelp indicated she was the one! I was too busy to meet her, so we just arranged for her to come over...she is very smart, logical and knows what she is doing! I have never boarded my dogs before so worried about how my two small dogs would do. I found a few places with good reviews but ended up boarding them at Chelsea's Pet Sitting. She was very good about getting back to me about drop off and pick up times and the shots and tests that were required. She was very concerned about my pet safety with the other pets. The experience was wonderful and my pets were very happy. She took extra care with my one dog that is submissive and the other that is still in his puppy stage. It's always tough finding someone to trust that will care for your pet the same way you would. I found / used Chelsea based off of Yelp, and she boarded my boxer for 4 nights. I didn't think I'd need to be concerned but when I returned, I found out she hadn't administered the medicine (1 pill for itchy skin before bed- very simple). I explained this in the paperwork and in person when I dropped him off so I thought it was very clear. She apologized and justified it by telling me she's a vet tech and he didn't appear to be itching so it was fine he didn't take it. After taking him home and bathing him, his paw and skin around his neck was irritated. You pay someone for a service and then things aren't done, it makes you question what else wasn't done. My other issue was zero communication. When I left him, I asked for photos. She said no problem and within 30 minutes of dropping him sent a few but I didn't get any other messages until I reached out 3 days later. If you are home with my pet, sending a photo should also be a very simple task like giving a pill. For not being able to give the medicine or follow simple requests, I think her pricing is way too high and if your pet takes any meds or needs any special care other than a basic walk, I would look elsewhere. read more

I am so sorry to bring down the 5 star streak... :-( As a business owner myself, I am always greatly affected by reviews, however I believe it's my job as a Yelp user to inform those about my experience. I used Chelsea's services last October/November while I was gone for my destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I was gone for 2 weeks, but only needed a pet sitter for 6 days. My mom usually cares for our two cats while we are gone, but of course she would be unavailable since she was traveling for the wedding. I found Chelsea on Yelp because of her stellar reviews and her proximity to our place. She's in our same neighborhood, so I figured it would be easy for her to stop by. I was a little hesitant from the reviews since it seems she is primarily a dog walker and works mostly with dogs. Although another reviewer said she was good with cats so I thought I would take the chance. I contacted her months before our trip and we set up a time to have her come over and meet us and the cats. Most of our correspondence was through email or text message. However, when the day came to have her come by, she didn't show up. I called, I texted, I emailed... A few days later I received an email response saying that she was sorry, she failed to put the date on her calendar and was actually out of town that weekend. I was disappointed, but completely understood since we had setup the visit over a month earlier. We rescheduled for the following week. When I met her she seemed like a big pet lover. I showed her around the house, where the food, water, toys and litter boxes were. She mentioned that her duties were that she would feed them, clean litter boxes, play with the cats and even trim their nails. She also said she would email me photos of the cats. Since we were in Mexico and unable to receive phone service email was our only form of contact. Over the course of our trip I only heard from Chelsea once... an email that read "Just confirming that today is the day I start". After that I did not hear anything else from her for the remainder of our trip. I never received a photo or even a status update. It wasn't until my mom returned and saw the cats that I finally received a photo. I had purposely let our orange tabby's nails stay long because I assumed she would trim them for us. However, when we returned his nails were still very long. I can't complain... obviously the cats are alive and well, so she did her job. Thus, the minus one star. My biggest complaint was the lack of communication: from the initial meeting to the correspondence while we were gone. Even when I would contact her through email it would take her a couple of days to respond. I always give people the benefit of the doubt, but I may reconsider using her for any future trips we do. :-/ read more

My people-shy, bossy English shepherd loves going to daycare at Chelsea's. Chelsea really worked with my husband and me to make sure our dog was comfortable integrating into the daycare schedule around other humans and other dogs. In addition to daycare, Chelsea has visited our cats while we were on vacation a few times. She is very communicative; and we come home to happy, healthy cats. To me, the mother of 4 animals, the peace of mind that comes from having someone knowledgeable and experienced in animal care is invaluable. Chelsea's rates are very reasonable for the area (and honestly very reasonable for just about anywhere in the US, in my experience), and she deserves every penny of it. Highly recommend Chelsea if you need dog boarding or sitting. Chelsea is a dog owner herself and I get the sense she has a heartfelt caring and concern for her own dogs along with the dogs under her care. Our dog gets aggressive being around other dogs so she made special arrangements to corner off a private area for our dog. But Chelsea made the extra effort to integrate our dog with the others and it really seemed to help him get over his aggression with the other dogs as he no longer seems as aggressive when he meets other dogs. Throughout the stay, Chelsea sent us pics and was also very responsive when we asked how our dog was doing (in his doggie spa).
