My vehicle didn't pass inspection, so I brought it to them to have it worked on for reinspection. I was told it needed new tires to pass. I informed them that this was not on the inspection report and to access it through the NYS inspection portal. They refused. I bought my winter tires at Cheney Tire in late 2019. I go to have them change out my tires from winter/summer keeping one set of rims. I went yesterday, and was shocked that they said I needed new lug nuts on a 2019 Ford Fiesta! They had them delivered immediately and charged me $133.76 just for the lug nuts, total bill being $242.74. I came home and called FORD CORPORATION and was told it is considered "wear and tear". Then I posted a complaint on NHTSA. Then I called VanBortal Ford where I bought the car in July 2019. The VanBortal people just called me back and are sending me a check for the lug nuts! NOW THERE'S A COMPANY WHO WANTS OUR BUSINESS! I will say, my car pulls to the left since yesterday, so it may be "pounding" the swollen lug nuts off has made an issue with the alignment. i live about 30 minutes away and went in to grab some tires for my car, i was there for almost 3 hours waiting for my tires, i went back home with the tires to put them on my car and found out they gave me the wrong size, i called told them about the mistake they made and that ill be back to get the right tire size (no big deal) when i went back they said they couldnt do my tires because they were close to closing and to go back in the morning (i had an appt with them for an alignment the next morning at 9:30) i went in with the tires early in the morning before my alignment appt so they can give me the right tires, they proceeded to take 1 hour to get me my two tires (i was the first person there and anyone who knows anything about putting on tires knows it definitely doesnt take 1 hour for two tires) i came back home to put the tires on myself as fast as i can so i can go back for the alignment appt i had, i was about 10 minutes late to my appt and they said they couldnt get me since i was late (even tho i was late because they gave me the wrong tires in the FIRST place) i just wouldnt recommend because no matter what, they take forever, this isnt my first time going but it will definitely be my last. read more

Worst Shop Ever!. Do not go here. First let me tell you this is going to be a long story. I feel that a consumer needs to see all the facts before they decide to spend a lot of money at a store. I am the owner of a 2008 Husky lawn tractor. This tractor has been used to mow about an acre or so of lawn over the last 6 years, and it finally broke down hard. The good folks were left without anything to mow the lawn in the middle of summer, and I wanted to get this tractor fixed fast. My plan was to get this one fixed well enough to make it through this season, and then buy a new one next year. I decided to use Cheney Tire because I thought they were a reputable shop. I was wrong. From the start things went poorly. My tenants did not have a truck, and called Cheney Tire to pick up the tractor. It took a few days, but we figured things were going well. I asked them to have Cheney call me before they started the work, because I wanted to ensure we were on the same page. This call back took 3 weeks. I was finally called by Ben, the manager for the tractor shop. He was confused, and said he just got back from vacation, and was trying to figure out what was going on with this tractor. I went through the whole story, and told him I just wanted to get it running for a few months to make it through the summer. It took another week or so, and I finally got a call back. I was given a laundry list of things that needed to be done. There were all sorts of repairs that he said were needed. We went through the list, and I told him exactly what I wanted done. I told him they were cleared to do $200 on this tractor, and I was to be called if it was going to be above that. I did not her back from anybody for almost two months. When I finally got a call, it wasn't from Ben, but from my tenants who had gone to the shop to check on the tractor. I was told the repair bill was $465.10. I was shocked, and stated I was not happy and I wanted to see the breakdown. I asked Ben to scan and email the invoice, but he said he did not have the ability to do that. We finished the conversation with the plan that my tenant was going to take a copy, scan it and email it. Another 8 days went by, and I got another call from Ben asking me to settle up. I said I had not seen the bill yet, and was not going to pay anything until I did. I gave Ben my fax number at my place of work, and asked him to send it. Again, nothing. I checked the fax at least 10 times before I left work. Next day came around and I got a call from my tenants, as well as Ben. I also got an email with a scanned copy from my tenants. After going over the bill, I got another call from Ben asking for the $465.10. I asked him how it was so high when I never approved anything past $200. He tells me "you set the level at $400". I told him that was not true, but even if it was "how could my bill be $465, because that would also be beyond the limit?" He went into a song and dance about the cost of parts, and tax". We went back and forth a little bit, and I told him I wanted to speak to the manager. e went round and around again, and I told him I wanted to talk to Tom. Again Tom comes on. I listen to him go through this and that about how Cheney is a great shop, and blah, blah, blah. This is just how it's going to be. I asked him how I could be charged $465 when I approved $200. He tells me Ben wrote down $400. I tried to ask if I approved $400, how it could be $465?, but never made through my question because Tom interrupted me every three or so words. At this point I became very frustrated, and asked Tom if he was going to interrupt me every time I tried to talk. He says "no, but he is only going to listen to my side one time" I said ok. I again tried to tell my side, and he consistently interrupted, and would not allow me to say anything. I tried for two or three minutes, and finally told him to screw himself, and that I wasn't going to pay. I also told him to keep the tractor. This is a very shady shop. I have a copy of my invoice that lists the estimate as "$195 or so". I guess estimates are just pie in the sky figures that are used to get somebody in the front door. Then when it comes to cashing out, they get you in the backdoor. read more

Went for tires and alignment. Was told tie rod ends were too worn to align, so I had them just mount and balance new tires. Took 3.5 hours. Took a look at the TREs later on, found that only the ends of the drag link were worn, which would not affect alignment on a dodge truck. Tires in rear were inflated to a higher psi than on the front, which is backward for a pickup. Overall very disappointed, have heard good things about cheney. read more

RIP OFF !!! Don't go here to get your car inspected. This place told me my window tinting was too dark and wanted to charge me nearly $300 to make it lighter. I have factory installed tinting that is very light already. I went straight to the police station to have them check it. Cheney Tire said I had 50% visibility but I have 100%!!! Two days after Cheney Tire failed my car - it passed at Valvoline. Unfortunately I had to pay twice. Don't make the same mistake I did. read more

Terrible. They sold me a "new" tire. I get home and the tire is flattening and on top of that I go to fill it with air and the air valve is bent. So I can't even fill it. I have to get a whole new tire. read more

This place is not where I would reckoned people to go, 2 hours into my inspection they decide the tires won't pass, of course they won't pass why would they , it's a tire shop? so pressed for time I approve them to put on tires which they only had Firestone, which my first set of Firestone only made it 30k miles before these people now tell me I need new ones. After the tires get out on I start to notice a strange sound coming from them so I go back to have it looked at because my vehicle is only one year old so it's obvious when something doesn't sound how it used to, they try and tell me it's a wheel bearing wear, on a year old jeep, an off road vehicle they say it's a wheel bearing, not only an insult to my intelligence but just straight lazy no effort to look into the actual problem. As a business owner I know I would have gotten it right the first time I spent 4 hours on it. 4 hours for tires that make noise and an inspection!!! read more

Joe, apparently you do not understand the way business unfolds for such a place. Workers call in sick, or have other reasons for absence that the boss really cannot control nor predict. I have NEVER had a bad experience with Cheney Tire. I have them do more than tire repair/replacement. They have always treated me with respect, always provided honest answers, and always did quality work. They don't try to oversell, either. I have always had good experiences with Cheney Tire in Watertown, NY in the past but yesterday I paid for 4 new tires to be mounted and balanced on my stock rims and I was the last customer of the day. So, as soon as my car was outside of the garage all the doors were locked up and the staff was gone. So, when I walked over to check out my car I realized that they had mounted two new tires and two slightly used tires and couldn't do anything about it until the next day. They brought me in for a simple inspection on a new truck I bought, from an owner. The truck passed an inspection two months before I bought it. They said the axle was leaking I said ok fix it then half way through this job they say the ebrake pad is bad. I had them give me the supposed faulty pad and took it to another mechanic and he said there was absoultely nothing wrong wiht it. They are rip off artists. Unless you rich dont go here. read more

IF you want bad customer service and poor quality work done, this is your shop! Your one stop shop for back talk, your wrong I am write because (insert bs excuse here), and emptying your wallet. I own a customized Jeep and occasionally when there is something I cannot fix myself or I need parts, I used to go here to get them. The first time I used them I tested them by bringing in a drive shaft off the vehicle and asking them to replace the front U-joint on it. They say they can't do it because it is not on the vehicle so I call them a crap shop and talk to the manager. He agree's to do it for 40$. Fair deal I suppose for this but the customer service is crap and it took more than 3 days to do a 30minute job. The real headache came when I was going to make a longer trip and needed my U-joints tackled rather quickly. I have them replace the U-joints on the front right axle shaft. It costs over 300$ for 1 u-joint and them taking off my tire and do this job. First of all, I can get down to the axle shaft in about 15 minutes. There is no way the job took 3 hours of labor. So once again I have to talk the price down because they ask for way to much for simple jobs. They give me a hard time with anything I ask them to do. I get to where I am going and realize that my tire is very very wrong. Wobbling, squeaking and the likes. I look down at the axle shaft that just got fixed and THERE ARE NO CAPS!!! Naturally I call these guys and tell them what has happened and that their poor job is going to cost me over 1200$ in replacement parts including a new axle shaft, ball joints, and hub assembly. They won't even cover their crappy work, I talk to the manager he says there is nothing he can do. This one takes weeks of sending them bills and talking to manager and even lawyers calling them to get 1200$ in damages back. My dad had to spot me money just to get it fixed at a reputable garage so I could get back home. These A**hats don't deserve your business and will give you more of a headache than you bargained for I promise. Take you cars elsewhere military, civilians, does not matter who you are. Use some one else. read more
