That's just what oil change places do. So I'd recommend paying attention and asking questions if you're worried. There's another review that says you should just watch a YouTube video and learn to change your oil yourself. That's also probably true. But I don't mind spending a little extra money and energy to not have to climb under my car and deal with it. If there's a service you don't think you need, turn it down. I actually tend to turn down even their basic light inspection. It's just a way for them to kill time while they set you up. It's ok to say "Ok. Thanks for that recommendation on the maintenance. My mechanic will check it out later." Or "Don't worry about the air filter. I just had it changed." I really can't recommend another oil shop that's consistently able to get my oil changed in a timely fashion and without much confusion. And every vehicle I've put Valvoline oil into has run well over a 100,000 miles without much of any hitches.
