Been wanting to try this Super cute dessert spot and it was definitely worth the wait!! The menu is filled with tons of Korean dessert delicacies and drinks. I was most excited for the shaved ice and misugaru cream top which were both incredibly delicious with real ingredients you can taste, not just loaded sugar. The inside is packed on any given day but there is outdoor seating to accommodate as well. The girl behind the counter was helpful in answering my questions when ordering despite the chaos inside. I finally got to check out Cheongsu. I went on a weekday so it was empty but I know they get super busy on the weekends. I didn't get to try their tea set or their soufflés this time so I'll definitely have to come back for that. For this trip, I just picked up their Madeleine Gift Set and an iced coffee. The madeleines were so good! I especially loved the Inejolmi and Matcha. All the madeleines had filling inside. I also definitely want to try yakgwa as that is a traditional Korean cookie. What a quaint cafe amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. The front entrance has a soothing and peaceful aesthetic that carries into the shop. Seating is limited. We came on a Friday mid afternoon and place was filling up. We didn't have to wait long however, the line got long after we sat down. You place your order on the tablet then find a place to sit. The set was delicious and we loved all the little treats that were included. The teapot was very small though, so we each ended up ordering an extra drink. I ordered the misutgaru cream milk, which I really enjoyed. It was pretty pricey and portion sizes were smaller than I would have liked, but I loved everything I got. I tried going back again on the weekend, but found that the line was too long and there were no seats available. Also many items were sold out. I left without ordering anything. I would love to come back on a weekday to try the other dessert options. However I definitely will not attempt to visit on a weekend. This spot is OK. There is nothing to hype here IMO. The upstairs was closed when I went so only the pretty cramped downstairs was open. None of the desserts stood out to me. I got the corn Madeline but that was more like a corn bread, which I was hoping the Madeline was more like a Madeline type (sweeter, more moist). The yakhwa was all kind of very dry and bland. When I initially saw them, I was thinking how I should get my parents some but then opted not to after I tried them. The strawberry box dessert just tasted like a typical strawberry short cake. A lot of their drinks were sold out too. Nothing makes me feel like I want to definitely come back (esp for how crowded it was) and nothing to me was worth a wait. As soon as we heard Cheongsu opened up in Fort Lee, we hopped on that bus and went immediately. The actual decor of the cafe was beautiful and found it very similar to cafes and restaurants in Korea, which makes sense as this was originally a Korean brand. Although it was only a few days of opening, the place was packed, and it took us about 30 minutes before we found a seat, telling on how good this place was. The two fromages were my favorite part, they were so creamy and airy and just melted in my mouth. I still think about that strawberry fromage. The drinks were also amazing and I definitely preferred the Matcha Cream Milk (I'm not a big coffee person). I would take all the Strawberry Fromages with me if I could, too bad it's Dine-In only. Popular in Seoul, I was super excited to see that Cheongsudang opened a location in Fort Lee. My husband and I arrived around 2pm and the small space was packed, both on the main level and the upper level. You order via kiosk and wait for your order to be ready (we waited about 30min total). Unfortunately, most of the items on the menu were already gone. We did manage to order their strawberry fromage, mandarin orange ade, and their matcha milk. The fromage was decadent and cold. The mandarin ade was very refreshing! Cheongsu has a beautifully decorated exterior and a truly stellar ambiance. There's a small parking lot to the right, but heads up--the entrance is on the left, not centered. My phone died after snapping a photo, but inside I learned the second floor is temporarily closed for renovations. It was a bit confusing at first since you could only order from the kiosk and the staff did not mention it even they seated us. We ordered the traditional Korean tea set - choice of earl grey tea/chamomile tea, 1 original yakgwa (Korean honey cookie), 3 dasik (black sesame, matcha, soybean powder Korean pressed tea cookies), 3 jeonggwa (Korean confection made of walnut and apple dried fruit), 1 black sesame madeleine, 1 financier cake, and 1 omija (Korean berries) jelly. We also ordered a few other drinks (peach tea, earl grey creme tea). The only items I really enjoyed were the yakgwa and the peach tea. Everything else did not seem that special or unique. It's a bit overpriced and the service was not that great so I probably would not return. read more

We had an Americano, a soybean madeleine which i highly recommend, the corn bingsoo (loved this but it's kinda small..), and the strawberry soufflé which takes 20 min to bake. The madeleine and bingsoo were both fantastic but the souffle was only okay - i think it needs a warm custard or sauce to finish it off. We will be back to try the layered cream cheese dessert! There was a lot of hype about this place opening and then when it opened, I didn't hear such good reviews because they were sold out of everything. After a few weeks, I did hear good feedback that everything was back in stock and that the upstairs area was really scenic and pretty. But the consistent message from everyone was that it was very pricey. I finally had a chance to check it out, but when I went, the upstairs was closed for renovation. So, the only area to sit was in the downstairs area which was pretty small. We accidentally grabbed a table but at this moment, you have to fill out a waiting list and then wait for a table to open up. And once you are called, then you can order on the kiosks they have. But luckily, there wasn't anyone else on the waiting list. (which grew instantly as soon as we sat down) I got a misutgaru cream milk and my friend got the matcha cream milk, which were $7 each. They were really small for the price and too sweet and were just okay. And we also got madeleines, which were $3.50 each. Unfortunately, they were dense and dry. I was told that the soufflés were just okay and overpriced so I didn't bother ordering them. Maybe I'll give them another try one day when the scenic upstairs area opens up again and try their soufflés and other drinks. One of my favorite cafes in Korea is Cheongsu in Ikseon-dong. Imagine how excited I was when I saw a TikTok video that one opened up in Fort Lee, NJ. They replicated the space just like the one in Korea, it's Hanok-style with lots of wood & natural elements. Order at one of the 2 kiosks and then wait by the counter for your name or number to be called. Limited seating downstairs and upstairs. I had to get their Traditional Dessert/Tea Set ($26). The presentation is stunning. You can't help but noticed all the little details. I get giddy when I see pretty little things. All the tidbits were such a delight and not overly sweet. The small teapot yields 3 tea cups. Be aware the last pour will be the most bitter. I'm okay with that since I am a tea lover. We also got the Matcha Fromage and OMG, it was so yummy. Here are the 3 drinks we ordered: - Vanilla Latte (hot) - Mandarin & Orange Ade - Misutgaru Cream Milk (Roasted Multi Grain) Totally takes me back to what I had in Korea. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the beverages here. The low rating is due to the glitches on their soft opening. It was packed when we went but they had this place running smoothly. Cheongsu is a new and very popular cafe. It is nicely decorated, both inside and outside, and kept clean. They have an upstairs seating area and almost every seat was occupied with happy customers upon our arrival. They also have a small parking area, adjacent to the building. The food that they create is beautiful and, I'm sure, delicious. However, during today's visit, we just tried their coffee. Since I ordered multiple drinks, they were presented on a tray, in cool mugs/saucers, and with small golden spoons. Their preparation time was quick and you could view the baristas creating the drinks, as you wait. If you cannot wait by the bar, you'll receive a text, when your order is ready, which is a nice touch. My coffee wasn't just visually pleasing, but the temperature was optimal, where you could safely drink, as soon as you're seated. Every drop of my Cafe Latte was exquisite, creamy, and I highly recommend it. Here's where the review goes from 5 to 4 stars.....it is mayhem inside the cafe, in order to place your order. There are only two screens and the line builds up very quickly. That crowding creates a potential accident, if you're going to sit in their upstairs area, and have to make it through the awaiting crowd.....with your tray full of food/drinks. I look forward to returning and trying their sweets. However, I think the best time to visit is during a weekday and as close to their 9:00 AM opening hour. Just an enchanting evening experience. They've curated such a lovely outdoor space with a small bamboo garden, lanterns and somehow have insulated it just enough to tune out the surrounding streets. The service was helpful and patient, despite being busy as usual and having the electronic ordering system, every staff member behind the counter were gracious enough to answer my questions to help navigate the menu items. It's a self-serve pick up area/carry out situation if you're sitting outside but one staff member brought out a tray for us since we had multiple. And they've added some savory selections and we really enjoyed them. We got the Dutch pancake with prosciutto and light whipped cheese (ricotta?) and the matcha dessert, matcha tea and a scone. My experience at Cheongsu wasn't half as bad as these reviews, so I'd say they are getting better since their opening. I went on a Sunday afternoon (10-11am), and there were plenty of seats available. I would say though it got pretty busy as we started to leave, so I would plan accordingly. Now the wait times. I was a little intimidated, seeing the reviews, but our food came out so much earlier than expected! We ordered the Strawberry soufflé castella cake and couple of drinks, and our order was fulfilled in just under 15 minutes. The soufflé cake was very eggy and fluffy -- as a fan of castella cake, I loved this dish as it wasn't very sweet, but sweet enough for a pick me up. Love love loved the Misugaru Cream too; it didn't look as visually appetizing as the photos, but loved all the toasty rice flavors in this. We also got the Sweet Corn Madeleine to go, but was not much of a fan. It was too sweet, and had some weird cardamom-y flavor I didn't expect and appreciate. I think we might've been extra lucky this day with the wait times or they are getting better with service times since the opening -- either way, Cheongsu was a delightful visit and well worth a try if you are in the area! read more

I can't speak for the desserts here but the drinks were phenomenal. I came here with my fiancé after dinner to get a hot drink on a cold day. We ended up getting the misutgaru drink and she got the peach tea and we also got the iced strawberry matcha drink. My fiancé is very hard to please when it comes to food or drinks but she was very happy with both how the drinks looked as well as their taste, she had no complaints and enjoyed both hot drinks (she is not a fan of matcha in general). Needless to say both she and I want to come back in the future and would most likely make this place our regular go to if we want a warm drink on a cold day. Came on a Tuesday at 10am, seems like everything was available but they removed all brunch items. So no more food food, just desserts. They also got rid of the financiers which is unfortunate because that tasted better than their madeleines. One positive note is the items came out much much quicker. I waited a total of 15ish minutes. This time I got the matcha and Ingeolmi fromage. The matcha fromage was incredibly sweet, the texture reminded me of a tiramisu. Very creamy, loose, and could only manage 1-2 bites. The matcha flavor wasn't strong at all and the cream was overwhelming. The ingeolmi one has a nicer texture, more dense, less sweet, but the ingeolmi flavor itself was very lacking. If you didn't know it was ingeolmi you would be asking what flavor its supposed to be. The crumble on top just tastes like a sugar bomb. We also tried the chocolate madeleine and that was extremely dry and after a bite couldn't finish. Super disappointing. Coffee was good but noticed the baristas were confused on how to make the lattes. It seems the staff needs additional training and service still needs quite the improvement. read more

I can see how this place is a must go for some people. It definitely reminds me of Korea. There's a mini parking area for customers but I seen some people park across the street. I got here around 10 am and it was busy. There's a kiosk in the front to place your order and there's another one in the back next to the pick up area. Ordering was easy since we knew what we wanted. I've been wanting to check this famous cafe from Korea. The outside decor is a stand out. It reminds of some of the cafes I saw when I visited city of Gyeongju in Korea. I guess that set my expectations high, so it was a let down when I entered. First of all, the kiosk ordering. I understand that most Korean eateries use this but somehow it didn't seem to go with the high end look of this cafe in the US. Since there's only one kiosk, if someone front of you is taking a long time to decide, you'll have to wait or inversely, you'll be pressured to make decisions fast when you see a line forming behind you. Review the menu first before you order if it's busy. The inside is very cramped, like you are in some small restaurant in the city so you are very close to the next table. Maybe when the upstairs renovation is finished, there will be more room downstairs. The desserts were just ok for me. We got chocolate and black sesame yagkwas. They are traditional Korean cookies. My husband who is non Korean enjoyed them more than I did. I wish they offer the fromage dessert in smaller portion size because I wanted to try one, but it was just too big for 2 people. Latte was well made and I appreciate the milk art. Lighting is too bright and I thought the interior didn't match the charm of the outdoor decor. Cheongsu is worth checking out at least once, but I'm not sure if I'll be going to this cafe regularly. read more
