The tables and chairs are small, the chairs are uncomfortable and hard, and the seats are so close together that I could hear everything the people next to me were saying. It reminded me of my elementary school days. They've packed a lot of tiny tables into a small space, so it's really noisy. The tight seating makes me worried the coffee might spill when they bring it over because there's barely enough space to pass by. The coffee and cake were fine, but nothing special. Some of the best dessert I have ever had! The chocolate soufflé was most likely my favorite! It did came out a bit deflated but the taste and everything was amazing! It was also decently priced and not super expensive! The strawberry fromage tasted so fresh! The strawberries were sweet and super fresh inside! And of course the display for all the food looked great! The matcha cream was really creamy! The matcha is also delicious, prob one of the creamiest matcha drinks I had The interior is kind of small and cramped unfortunately but it looks amazing inside! Like stepping into a cafe in Korea to be honest! They are working on an upper floor I believe so more space soon! Ordering section is a bit cramped but I hope it all gets better when the second floor opens up! Heard a lot about their opening and having been to the one in Seoul, I was excited to visit this location. The space is small, looks like a single family house that was converted to use as a cafe. The exterior is nicely decorated to resemble the vibes of their Korean branch but in a much smaller scale. They have a parking lot which is a huge plus. The ordering is done on one of the two kiosks, you swipe through the menu and pay with a credit card. If you want to pay with cash, I think you can ask the staff to take your order. The dinning area is spread across 2 floors, both really small and pretty crapped. The 2nd floor was closed due to renovations when I visited. It's very different from your location is Seoul which is spacious, airy and had a tranquil vibe. I had one of their fromage cakes and it looked as good as it tastes. It's pretty heavy so it's best shared. Can't really go wrong with anything here as everything is pretty delicious but it will cost you a pretty penny. The appeal of this place in Korea is partly the food and drinks but more so having it in the tranquil ambiance. Just set your expectations correctly and you wont be disappointed. Come here for the pricey dessert and not the relaxing atmosphere. read more

I know the original location in Korea is very popular so I was very surprised to see this was coming in the area. The place is beautiful, and is decorated very nicely. There is a very natural and warm theme. However, their desserts are very expensive for what it is, I assumed it would be better, and I sincerely believe that they are overhyped. This is a super cute place and was able to get popular really quickly because there's nothing else like it in the area. However, given all the hype and the wait times for seating I can't say that I was too impressed. All the desserts were just ok, and some of the flavors (like the injeolmi yakwa) didn't really show through that much. I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the drinks especially the creme brulee coffee, but the desserts are def overpriced and just look pretty. read more

I was super excited to try this Korean cafe! I was summoned by all the TikTok videos on my feed and the vibes inside are immaculate. My boyfriend and I got the matcha cream milk and the mandarin orange ade (since it was the first day, they didn't have any desserts available yet). The mandarin orange ade was SO GOOD! There's also good lighting and good opportunities for photos. There's a lot of space to study upstairs but I didn't see too many outlets. Although a bit tight because several tables are crammed into a small space, the lattes (either espresso or matcha) are of excellent quality and the fromage and Madeleines are delicious. The service was efficient and fairly quick by seasoned baristas, especially given that the place was crowded. The busboy needs to practice clearing tables in a crowded dining room to avoid spilling tea on patron's jackets as he maneuvers between the tables. read more

Came here during their soft opening to enjoy a calm and serene experience around the holidays. The staff let us know they're only offering drinks right now (no desserts) . We ordered a vanilla latte, yuzu tea, and matcha milk at the touch screens by the door and grabbed a table around their open bar. They are still working through some kinks, as you can see the staff working fervently, trying to get all of the drinks made. The jazz music and tranquil water display around the bar were nice touches. Don't forget about their upstairs seating for more options. overrated.. went there because i heard its a popular korean cafe that just opened. ordered matcha latte on ice. two gulps and it was all done.. definitely don't get iced drinks it's a waste of money. also got the matcha fromage- presented to look like landscaping- not sure good idea or not it just came off as pretentious- mediocre flavor the "rock" cake on top was dry. it was 80% cream and a thin layer of cake. My date had the injulmi fromage and I did not taste that "injulmi" flavor i'm accustomed to. 14$ for a small cake slice size- unimpressed. chairs were so uncomfortable looked like school desk chairs you buy at ikea. I saw this place while scrolling through Instagram, which piqued my interest, but since it is an hour and a half drive from my house, I wasn't in a rush to go. Recently I was sent a reel of the Korean location of this cafe and it looked amazing, so when I happened to be in the area, I decided to stop by. The Fort Lee location is comprised of two stories, but only the first floor was open when I went. This locations is a decent size, but seems smaller than some of their locations in Korea, hence the decor (both inside and outside) has a similar aesthetic as their Korean counterparts, but not as extravagant. Bamboo plants are planted around the building of the cafe and their signature wooden lanterns adorn the courtyard. When you enter into the cafe, the open prep area is right in the middle of the cafe with different seating options surrounded in an u-shape. The prep area is decorated with rocks, moss and plants, giving it the same serene feeling as the outside. Cheongsu is a self-serve cafe. They don't offer paper menus and all ordering is done on kiosks placed near the prep area. Once your order is ready, they text you and you pick up your order by the prep area, and when you are done you return your own tray. If you do have any questions, the person the prep was very accommodating. Since I went with my parents, we decided to order a few things to share. We ordered the Korean special tea set, the matcha fromage, an Ethiopian yirgacheff stone drip coffee, and a cafe latte. Cafe latte - this was pretty good. It was more on the bitter side, which I normally do not like, but paired well with the different desserts that we got. It was also served with a very intricate and cute latte art. Ethiopia yirgacheff stone drip coffee - black iced coffee which was on the acidic side, but that is to be expected this type of coffee. We preferred the taste after milk was added to it. The Matcha Fromage - this is one of their signature desserts at Cheongsu. It is basically a matcha tiramisu decorated with black sponge cake and herbs on top to resemble a serene Asian garden. The fromage was nice and creamy and the dessert wasn't overly sweet, which we enjoyed. The black sponge cake on top was very dry and basically had no taste. The Korean special tea set - this was a set of many desserts with a mix of traditional Korean desserts and more westernized desserts with a Korean twist. This set comes with a very very small pot of either earl grey or chamomile tea (we choose chamomile and it was delicious). The desserts included a black sesame Madeleine, a salted vanilla financier, a pot of Omija jelly, a nut covered yakgwa ( traditional Korean honey cookie), three different flavors of dasik (imjeolmi, black sesame, and matcha), as well as a plate of jeonggwa (candied apple slices and candied walnuts). It also includes an embroidered booklet with all the information of the different desserts inside. It was interesting getting to taste traditional Korean desserts, but some of the flavors were not completely to our liking. I'm glad I got a chance to try it once, but considering the price as well, it's not something I would order again. Overall it was a good experience. It's definitely a very instagrammable cafe, but not somewhere I would go often even if I lived in the area. However I do recommend you go at least once, because it was a one of a kind experience. read more

Situated on a lackluster street across from a strip mall, landscaped buffers filled with bamboo, ornamental grasses and rhododendrons surround the place and set it apart. Dense clusters of bamboo lanterns give it a magical air even before you enter. Inside, you order at the counter from a giant touchscreen and the prettily presented treats are brought to your table. Afterwards, you'll have to bring the trays back. So it's a funny combination of fast food cafeteria and a charming tea house, but the balance leans in favor of the latter. Cheongsu in Fort Lee is such a must-visit! Their corn bingsu was super unique and delicious -- definitely not a flavor you can find just anywhere. Since it doesn't have much topping, it can feel a bit simple on its own, so I recommend ordering the financier and mixing bites together. It's like the perfect combo of a brownie topped with ice cream -- moist, sweet, and so satisfying! Also loved their injeolmi latte and the super Instagrammable tea set. Food was just OK. Yakgwa was more than decent. Service -- absolutely mediocre AT BEST. I spent $100 including a generous 18% tip when it's basically self-service here. I only write reviews when it's actually worth letting people to know to beware. 1. Waited over an hour for our order to be completed. There were 7 other orders that were completed ahead of us. 2. Made my case as to how it's an awful experience. Had to ask for some sort of credit because a refund was not possible. 3. Was offered 3 additional yakgwa. Then asked for a box because we had already paid and had what we wanted to eat. They gave us a ZIPLOC BAG to package it up to take home (see photo). 4. The cafe area is small and gets overcrowded in a heartbeat with a line of people ordering and waiting. The place is cold, there is not enough/proper heating available. Everyone was wearing jacket while eating/waiting for orders. Utensils, napkins, to go boxes, service water are not accessible, you have to ask for it as they are already busy preparing orders, it may take some time. These should be placed in an accessible area. At this point, they should just limit the crowd by reservation as they cannot manage it and ruins the experience. Half the items on the menu were sold out by the time we got to the kiosk for ordering around 3pm. The kiosk automatically defaulted to 18% tip so watch for that (what am I tipping for? To order myself, pick up my own drinks, and constantly check on the status of my food items because they don't actually text when it's ready). Ordered drinks and 2 toasts, first toast took over 30 min, and the second was past 45 minutes. We finished our drinks by then and just had to wait since we were given a buzzer but it never buzzed so we kept needing to go back downstairs to check on our order.
