When inquiring about services and costs, Ipo was always quick to respond. She is excellent communicating through email and usually responds within 1 day, 2 at the latest. Cherbu's pricing is similar to other experienced artists in the industry and is one of the few that actually offers tattoo coverup services. As the lead stylist, Cheryl does charge a slightly higher fee when requesting her over the other MUAs, and does charge additional fees based on early morning arrival. Cherbu does it all! In addition to hiring Cheryl for bridal hair, makeup and tattoo cover, I was also able to book a spray tan. Her bronze color can match any skin tone shade and blends perfectly due to her spraying technique. She does warn you it will be a little dark and gives you specific instructions for the first 48 hours, including "wash until you are happy with the color". My farmer's tan was long gone! Cheryl arrived at my hotel at 4:30 the morning of my wedding and went straight to work. I showed her some inspo photos of hair and makeup and warned her my hair has a hard time curling. Ipo handled every single e-mail and question I asked and she was amazing. I was able to schedule a hair & makeup trial the day before my wedding & I'm so glad I did because I was initially going to go into HMU the day of my wedding blind and not knowing what I wanted. During my HMU trial, Cheryl made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. She has such a vivid and fun personality! The way we talked made me feel like I had known her for years already or she was like my "ate" ("big sister" in Tagalog)! I also normally freak out when anyone comes at my eyes with anything and for some reason, I didn't freak out at all. ESPECIALLY when it came to applying the lashes. She was SO quick with it I didn't even have time to freak out. The day of my wedding, Cheryl, Ipo, & Crystal came on time and got all of us (7 in total) done in a systematic fashion. Destination Wedding: 10/4/18 Venue: Haiku Gardens, Kaneohe As with everything else for our wedding, I (bride) waited until about 4-6 weeks out to seriously look into vendors. How I was lucky enough to secure Cheryl for our wedding day, I'll never know! Closer to our day, Ipo, a member of her team sent me the timeline for our day of. Prior to our day of, they were so accommodating to some schedule changes at the request of my videographer. Due to our ceremony starting earlier in the morning, Cheryl and her team needed to plan for a 4:45am start (yikes, sorry!). They arrived exactly on time to set up and get started. Everyone was so professional, kind, funny, and easy to talk to. Cheryl gave me the fishtail half up-do of my pinterest dreams! I did not do a trial as there was not enough time between us flying in from Denver and the wedding day. However, I wasn't worried in the slightest bit. I think the most important thing is that she and her team listened to my/bridesmaids' request when it came to makeup and hair. I told my bridesmaids to pick a hair/makeup look that would make them feel most comfortable and beautiful. We all had some inspo pictures ready and all the looks were achieved. I would highly recommend Cheryl and her team! My makeup itself lasted the best it could through the heavy humidity that day, my sweaty dancing, and the endless amount of tears. First off, I requested an appointment through Yelp and her assistant Ipo got back to me promptly, asking for a picture of what I wanted for hair and if I also wanted to get my make-up done for my engagement shoot. Wedding day, she and her team got 11 of us done in 4 hours and like mentioned above, just made me feel amazing! Not 5-stars, but 5000 STARS!!! Hair and make-up are so important on your wedding day because in the end all you have to remember is the way you felt and the way you looked in photos. I had asked my hairstylist if he'd do my hair for my wedding but he told me he doesn't do weddings and instead referred me to Cheryl. I knew that there was no way he'd steer me wrong and booked her and her team right away. After talking to Cheryl on the phone and sending some emails, I was impressed because not only does Cheryl get back to you very quickly but she also lays everything out for you in a timeline so there's no confusion about what to expect. All I had to do was send her timeline to my bridesmaids and mothers so everyone knew what time to arrive. I asked Cheryl if I should do a pre-wedding test run and she told me it was completely up to me, BUT she added that she was completely confident that she could give me exactly what I wanted on my wedding day without it. Bold words and I decided to trust that she knew what she was doing. The day of my wedding arrived and Cheryl's team came to my house 30 minutes early to start prepping for hair and make-up to begin. I had originally wanted the bridesmaids hair to be down but we ended up deciding to put it up because of the humidity and possible winds at the ceremony site. Thank goodness we did that because it was so windy that it would have ruined everyone's beautifully coifed hairstyles. Cheryl personally took care of my hair and make-up and I loved that she helped me figure out what I wanted with an array of photos on an iPad. Everything from hairstyles to make-up so that I would get exactly what I wanted. It was GENIUS!!! I could not have been more happy with the results! But the best part of this review happened AFTER my ceremony. Cheryl was nice enough to fix my hair after it had been ruined by the crazy wind at my ceremony. It just so happens that her studio was in the very same building as my reception and I went up for a quick fix. Is that the Universe working in harmony or what?! It amazed me how quickly she was able to touch up everything and make me feel as beautiful as possible on my wedding day. It really made a huge difference and I'll be forever grateful that she was there to help! I was really skeptical about hiring a hair and makeup vendor for my destination wedding since I would only find out at the trial, a few days before the wedding, if I made the right choice. Cheryl invited me over to her house for the trial - she has a huge corner set up as a makeup stand and used natural light from her gorgeous windows for the application. The entire process was honestly so much fun - my friend and I brought a bottle of wine to entertain ourselves and Cheryl was so delightful! She's a gorgeous spirit and we had a great time hanging out with her! Instead of looking in a mirror, she took photos to show me what my hair and makeup looked like on camera, then did minor adjustments so that I was 100% satisfied. The morning of the wedding she came over with two girls to assist with hair. All three of them were so sweet and such a calming presence. As a Sephora addict, I was skeptical of using her own brand of makeup but I am now a full on believer. My makeup went NOWHERE ALL DAY. No lipstick or foundation on the groom, no lipstick smeared on my napkin during dinner - even the neckline of my dress (where, lets be honest, I was sweating a bunch all day) had just the most minor amount of color on the inside. I went with Cheryl Hazelgrove and her hair/makeup business for my Oahu wedding in October 2015 because of her basically perfect Yelp rating (also, I figured if Yelp CM Emi H. loved her for her wedding, I would too!). And it's true, I loved working with Cheryl's team for my wedding. Monica (I love you, woman!!) took care of my hair and makeup on my big day. I had a trial with her a few days before in Cheryl's BOSS studio (you'll know what I mean if you ever get a chance to get done up there). She was so sweet, she listened to what I wanted, was attentive to what I maybe wasn't articulate enough to say I wanted/didn't want, and most of all, talented. My mom and 5 bridesmaids also had their hair and makeup done by the team. Emily (hair/makeup) and Crystal (hair) came out to our getting-ready site for the job. The whole experience was as fun and memorable as I always pictured it would be. Cheryl herself was on vacation on the date of my wedding, which she was quick to disclose back when I first contacted her two months before. I was initially iffy about going with her studio for this reason--I worried that perhaps only Cheryl had done the hair/makeup of the brides in all the reviews I had read. I was eventually sold on the fact that Cheryl was super communicative and sweet with me throughout the booking process (which was important since I was planning the wedding from California). She was also able to offer me a discount given my large group of ladies. Finally, Monica and the other artists turned out to be awesome, so it didn't matter in that sense that Cheryl had not been there. The reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 was because I was really anticipating receiving those touch-up kits for the day of mentioned in several Yelp reviews, also quoted to me as part of the package in one of my first emails with Cheryl. As the getting-ready experience was drawing to a close on the wedding day, I asked Monica about the kits, and she didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Accordingly, none of my bridesmaids or I were able to keep our faces fresh and retouched throughout the day with the same makeup we were given that morning. If I'm being 100% honest, it didn't really matter *that* much, as I was so busy that day that I don't even know when I would have had time to reapply makeup. That being said, Cheryl and her team could have communicated more about this important element prior to my date, as it was sort of a selling point. Cheryl and her team are AMAZING! Wedding hair and makeup were on point, thanks to Cheryl and her fabulous team. I had bridal hair/makeup done by Cheryl, and then my bridesmaids had hair done by her team. All of the girls' hair looked great and my bridesmaids could not stop talking about how awesome Cheryl and her assistants were. They were very professional but also fun and personable, and they also gave us great suggestions/recommendations on questions we had about how we should do our hair. My bridesmaids are all from the mainland and they were even asking Cheryl if she could come to the mainland to do their weddings next year! haha =) Cheryl also was very accommodating and was able to add my mother-in-law's hair/makeup into the schedule, on very short notice. (I informed her just the night before). Cheryl and her team were also very receptive to my concerns. For example, my mother had recently permed her hair, and I think that it makes her look 10 years older (she is still in her 50's). I asked the team if they could style her hair to make her look younger, and not older, haha. They styled her hair accordingly and even gave her side-swept bangs, which made her look so much better. We were all so happy with the end result, including my mom! Cheryl also provided a little goody bag/makeup kit so that I could touch up my makeup during the day. It included a set of bobby pins, hair spray, eyelash glue, and the lipgloss that she initially put on me in the morning. These definitely came in handy especially after taking photos on the beach with the wind blowing my hair all over the place. Unfortunately I don't have any close-up pictures of my hair and makeup but believe me, we were all so happy with the outcome and the service we received. She really does amazing work and her prices are sooo reasonable too. That's another thing I love about her! Oh, and she takes credit cards so it's so convenient to pay her. I highly recommend her for hair/makeup especially for bridal! I'm sad that the wedding festivities are over so I have no excuse to have my makeup/hair done by her. Cheryl and Ipo and everyone on her team is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! You cannot find a better hair and makeup artist team than Cherbu!! All of my bridesmaids have said she was the best makeup artist ever, even better than their own MUA at their weddings in the past. Cherly is the real deal, you will not be disappointed! Do follow her on her instagram pages, she updates her page daily with all the clients she's worked with and it gives you a great idea of what kind of makeup and hair you're wanting on your special day. Her products are fantastic and literally last all day, it does not come off!! And in hawaii, it can definitely get humid as well, and let me tell you i sweat easily, but my makeup on my wedding was on there for good. My pictures looked so good, she did a fabulous job. Also, you know how sometimes when you get your makeup done, and it feels like you have so much on your face, and can feel kinda cakey?... well it's not the case with Cheryl. I went to Cheryl for my hair and make up for my senior prom a few months ago & I was SO happy with the results. She showed me her iPad which had different pictures of hairstyles and make ups for suggestions on what I wanted. Although I couldn't explain what I wanted every well, she figured it out and went above & beyond my expectations. Cheryl used her own make up products, "Cherbu" and it stayed on me all night, and being so tired, I just fell asleep without taking off my make up, the next morning it was still on, & it still looked good LOL. Being one of the people in charge of prom, I had to be running around throughout the night & I was so worried about my hair falling but it stayed on all night. She even gave me a little "touch-up" kit for before I left knowing I was going to have a long day/night ahead of me. Best. Ever. !!! Katie Rezantes (one of the makeup artists/hair stylists that works with Cheryl) did my hair and makeup for an outdoor morning wedding ceremony and lunch reception. I could not be happier with the result! She was patient and encouraging as I flip flopped on several ideas. She gave me final say on everything and did not make me feel at all rushed when I asked for last minute changes. The makeup (Cheryl's own line called Cherbu) held up well under the heat of the morning/afternoon sun. On top of doing an absolutely amazing job, Katie was easy going, fun, and a blast to hang out with!! Exactly what every bride needs just before their big day! I would recommend Katie to anyone considering getting their hair and/or makeup done. I didn't meet Cheryl personally but we texted a few times to coordinate. She seemed very friendly and willing to go above and beyond for her clients.
