I found out about Deborah from my NP at Kaiser more than a year ago when I asked him if he could recommend anybody to help me in recover from whiplash. This woman is incredible and has done a tremendous amount to help get my body back to normal. I have continued to see her after my initial issues were worked out in order to help keep my body from getting to tweaked. I went to see Deborah after having surgery. There was swelling at the surgery site that my surgeon said would never go away. Several months after the surgery, Deborah did lymphatic massage and the bump went away. I have received trigger point therapy, reiki, sound therapy, and general stress relief massage. Deborah is incredibly intuitive and I value her insights and perceptions on whatever my body is feeling. My entire family has gone to see Deborah, and when friends come into town, I bring them to Deborah as well. She had a long history as a massage therapist at UCSF, so she is used to dealing with medical issues. I have seen a many, many massage therapists over the years and always end up coming back to Deborah. I have serious repetitive strain injury x 20 years that has had me out on disability for periods of time before I realized the importance of self-care and myofascial massage therapy. I originally was recommended for this type of therapy by a physician in occupational health who strongly recommended it over surgery. The MD was correct and Deborah has been by and far the best at this work. I have many MD friends who have seen Deborah themselves and are extremely impressed with how much she knows about anatomy and physiology. That said, the reason I go back to Deborah is that she fixes my problems. For example, I injured my shoulder. I ended up in orthopedics due to the severity of the pain thinking that I surely had torn my rotator cuff. She gave me a cortisone shot which allowed me to sleep and referred me to 2x per week PT. Fast forward 2 months, the PT who did do some soft tissue work says PT isn't helping and sends me back to the orthopedist who says she can put me under while she breaks up the scar tissue so I once again can lift my hand above my shoulder. I had an appointment with Deborah for an unrelated issue, I mentioned my shoulder problem. She says it may not be your shoulder, but your rib cage. She works on some spots and viola! In 15 minutes, my range of motion has improved so I can lift my hand above my head. I wanted to kick myself when I think of all the time and copays spent elsewhere, but mostly just thrilled that I can get a glass out of the cabinet without tears coming to my eyes.... read more
