The staff was so kind and helped explain all the facilities and gave suggestions on which to use at what time. The treatment itself was heavenly. And all the facilities were so clean! They have a bunch of different hair/skin products to use after your treatment and they have tea, a coffee machine, water and snacks in case you're in need of some sustenance during your visit. They even have an ATM near the entrance if you forget cash for your tip, or you can Venmo/Zelle. I will 100% be coming back! read more

Felt super refreshed and rejuvenated afterwards would highly recommend trying if you've never been to a Korean type spa or just in the area (have to book in advance!) Facilities were clean and lovely, they have the spas and massage rooms on the first floor and a clay and salt room on the second floor. There is a vanity room where there are plenty of snacks and water/coffee/tea for you to rehydrate yourself with. I believe you get an hour before and after your appointment to enjoy all the amenities. And if you get the scrub highly recommend coming early and softening up your skin in the spas beforehand. I got the silverbell 1 hour message, which comes with the scrub, massage, and also a hair wash. The lady was super gentle and checked in on me whether that was the water temperature, scrub pressure or the massage strength. Actual rating: 3 1/2 stars. Women only spa by appointment only. Day passes available but only the day of if there happen to be cancellations. Otherwise, you'll need to book a service at least a month in advance. It's situated in Japantown. If you're driving, I recommend parking in the garage as street parking is either by permit and limited to two hours. They kindly pushed our scrub time to later since one of our party members was running a bit behind. This is the first Korean place I've been to where they requested you come an hour earlier versus thirty minutes. Seemed like a long time to soak. There's also no clock inside the actual bathing area, so difficult to keep track of time. Also, first time going to a Korean spa where they want it to be absolutely silent. I get that they are going for a relaxed environment, but kind of difficult to just soak for an hour and not chit chat amongst ourselves. The shower/soaking area is on the smaller side and for some reason, they didn't have any stools for the sitting bathing areas available. There's one hot tub, one ice tub, a dry sauna, and steam sauna. This would have been more of a three-star experience for me if not for the scrub. My ahjumma, Lee, was great; very attentive and did a very thorough job! Not mentioned in the list of services, but they also wash your hair and face as well as part of the thirty-minute scrub. After our scrub, we headed upstairs to try out the Himalayan salt room and the red clay room. They had staff cleaning throughout so they definitely take cleanliness seriously. Locker room area has lots of Aveda product toiletries and blow dryers available for after. As we were leaving, they gave a face and eye mask which was much appreciated. After the body scrub they wrap your body in a foil while they shampoo your hair and apply a face mask. The spa is small but has the essentials: sauna room, steam room, cold plunge, and jacuzzi. Upstairs there's a clay ball room and the salt room. My absolute favorite was the clay ball room. I was so relaxed after my 90 mins treatment when I went into the clay room I almost fell asleep. This Korean day spa is such a hidden gem in San Francisco -- it's right across from Japantown, which makes it perfect if you want to go early, relax, and then grab dinner nearby afterward. There's parking right in front, though it's metered, so bring some coins or use the app. When you first walk in, you pay for your service at the front desk, and they give you a bathrobe and slippers. From there, you can't use your phone since it's a women-only spa and many guests are nude -- which actually makes it feel super peaceful and private. The amenities are amazing: there's a hot jacuzzi, cold plunge, showers, steam room, and a traditional wooden sauna. Everything felt clean, calm, and well-maintained. There are also secure lockers for your belongings, which made it easy to just relax. Upstairs, there are these beautiful themed rooms -- one with salt rock walls, another with warm salt stones on the floor, and even a room filled with tiny clay pebbles you can lie in (it reminded me of a cozy adult version of a kids' play area!). Each space had its own unique energy and really added to the whole experience. I got a scrub and massage combo, and it was incredible. I've been coming here periodically for years. If you don't mind being nude, this is a great way to do a little self care. Schedule a scrub or scrub& massage combo and spend time using their facilities before and after your appointment. Soak in the hot tub for at least 20 minutes before your scrub to help slough off that dead skin. My lymphatic system has been out of whack so I came in for a massage to help with drainage. It was perfect for what I needed. The aunties are always so sweet and makes the place feel homey because of the people who work there. Women only, women ran and operated. And I am afraid to say I did not get to experience it all because I had another place to get to. I would definitely spend 2-3 hours here if you can. Pearl Spa & Sauna is an amazing experience in the middle of the city! This was my first time trying the spa and I was blown away by the amount they pack into a very fairly priced package. I did the Shiny Pearl package which came with a body scrub, massage, hair wash, and pearl mask. I do massages pretty regularly and I would say this experience was a bit more utilitarian than my average spa experience but in the best way! I left feeling revitalized and rejuvenated. Here is a breakdown of the day. I had a 9 am appt and they recommend arriving about an hour early to enjoy the amenities, which I did. I did the cold plunge and the jacuzzi but my favorite amenities were upstairs with the clay ball room and the Himalayan salt room! I am not some one who is good at just sitting in the quiet so shout out to the yelper who recommended bringing a book! It is a no phone environment since it is a nude spa so having a paperback was great. Once its time for your treatment, they'll come find you and bring you into the room. The time breakdown was a scrub for the first 30 minutes with the last hour being spent switching between massage, hair wash, and mask. Overall the massage itself was probably about 40-45 minutes. After your treatment you can spend another hour enjoying the amenities again. For the cost of $180 (plus tip) this was a very worth it experience! They book out pretty far in advance but its worth tying to get on the books. read more

My go to wellness day retreat. Got lucky with a last minute reservation since someone cancelled as they're booked out at least a month ahead. So book early. Love that it is a phone and chatter free zone so a zen environment is prioritized. There are also water/tea and light snack areas. I arrived early to enjoy their hot tub, wet sauna, clay and Himalayan salt rooms. This time I brought a book for in the between times and before I knew it, it was massage time. There are a brigade of grandmas that spend at least 60-90 minutes/pp depending on your service of choice and you can choose your strength levels 1-3 with 3 being the strongest. After the massage, there are Dyson dryers and quality face and hair products you can use which is nice. And at the end, staff gifted me with a face mask and rose hand lotion. I noticed the lockers have since been upgraded to self locking which is nice, and there are designated sections for your stuff so you don't lose anything. If you are looking for a full head to toe pampering, this is the place for you. Pearl Spa & Sauna is a women only spa just outside of Japantown. We were able to book a reservation for 3 Shiny Pearl treatments (90 minutes for a body scrub + body massage + pearl mask + hair wash) at 8 AM on New Years Day. Truthfully, we wanted a later spa time but even a month out, that was all that was available on New Years Day. Our chosen treatment was $180 + $5.40 (3% service fee to pay with credit card) per person. It seems steep, but boy did we feel PAMPERED. You can arrive up to an hour prior to your appointment time, which we did. We came at 7 AM, you change out of your outside shoes into the spa slippers and spa robe. On the first floor you have access to their hot tub, cold tub, steam room, sauna room, and showers. On the 2nd floor there is a Himalayan Salt rock room and another room - both heated. We were able to spend time in all the spa areas and were called for our 8 AM treatments. This was the most authentic feeling Jim-Jil-Bang I've been to in the states! Moving onto the 90 minute treatment - I've never seen so much dead skin removed from my body. The body scrub was a little rough for me since I don't normally scrub so hard on my skin, but the massage following it was so perfect. My skin felt so soft and smooth - it is like I shed an entire layer of skin from their scrub. The pearl face mask followed by my hair wash just felt like the cherry on top. After the 90 minutes, I honestly felt so relaxed that I almost fell asleep. You can enjoy the amenities for an additional hour post treatment. The masseuse did mention not to wash any of the body oil/moisture off, so we just spent the remaining time in the Himalayan salt room. Overall, this was such a perfect way to start 2026. It is definitely not a cheap spa day, but I felt so pampered and taken care of after my treatment. Tip is cash or venmo - I chose to tip 20% via the latter. Those scrub mitts will take you to a polished, glowing finish. Despite the no-frills approach to service, the experience was awesome. The space itself is compact but thoughtfully done. The clay ball room and salt room were both quiet and relaxing--I actually fell asleep in both. The entire facility was very clean and well maintained, which is huge for me. One of my biggest criteria for a good spa is the wet sauna, and this one nailed it: properly steamy, consistently hot, and pleasantly scented. And the amenities? A pleasant surprise. Was staying across the street at the Hotel Kabuki and saw Pearl and looked it up. Around 11pm on a Sunday night found 2 openings for a Korean Body scrub (7:30am and 9am). I booked the 9am and got there about 8:25, which gave me time to get oriented/tour facility and do a soak to prep. The reviews were accurate. I glad I was solo, made it easier being comfortable being nude. Lots of amenities to glam up before leaving. It was calm and quiet when I arrived, and got busier as I was leaving. Staff was great, and made me feel comfortable and welcomed. They explained everything and answered questions with a smile. The place was super clean and staff actively removed used towels/swept throughout my stay. A good scrub, felt like a symboloc ritual for shedding the old for the new. Incredible experience!! Just tried Korean spa for the first time and Pearl Spa didn't disappoint. The place felt clean overall. They have more amenities than any spa I've ever been to! There's a sitting/relaxing room, a clay ball room (little clay ball pit that you lay in, it's warm), salt room. One big "wet" room with showers, hot tub, cold plunge, sauna, steam room. They give you slippers and a robe. They also have towel wraps. You have to be butt naked here! Their policy is no swimwear. They do require you to wear shorts (that they provide) for the clay room and salt room. I got the full treatment: the Milk and Honey package. I've never felt more clean in my life. She scrubbed me down! Highly recommend going here! I'm def coming back. I went on a Thursday afternoon st 330 and to my surprise there was a good amount of people. My first Korean spa experience! My friend and I booked appointments that were close together and the front desk kindly moved our appointments so that we would end together, which was super sweet. She also told us what things to do in what order and checked in on us during our experience. You got used to the nudity after a bit and it was really empowering. My friend who has been to multiple Korean spas, said that this spa was more classy than the others since they provided you with a robe, sandals, drinks and snacks, and face and hair products. The wet room contained the shower, hot pool, cold pool, steam room, and dry sauna. Then you do your treatment, and then go upstairs for the Himalayan Clay room and the Salt Room. I found that the temperatures were a bit too strong for me in all pools/rooms except the salt room, where I stayed a bit longer. My friend got the Mermaid Dream (Scrub + Wrap), while I got the Shiny Pearl (Scrub + Massage+ Hair Wash + Face Mask + Face Massage). Well worth it. Julie was amazing but I think she was kind of sick since she kept sniffling. I was hoping I wouldn't catch anything, and I didn't! She gave me the scrub, which I thought was actually relaxing. Then rinsed me off. Then gave me the massage over towels, under towels, with a face mask during that. She then ended the treatment with my hair wash. The scrub was awesome! So efficient and left my skin so soft. Read a review in advance that it's all women and requires you to be fully nude even in bath areas so I was mentally prepared. There is one hot tub and one cold plunge, dry sauna and wet sauna and then a salt room and a clay room upstairs. Make sure to arrive 30ish minutes before so you can enjoy and get your skin softened up for your scrub. If you've never had a Korean body scrub before be prepared to lay naked on a plastic covered table and have every nook and cranny scrubbed from all 4 sides with your eyes covered in a shared room separated by a low wall and curtain. It comes with a Body Scrub ,Face Massage ,Body Wrap (24k Gold Extract) ,24k Gold Face Mask ,Body Massage ,Hair Shampoo. When we saw this description we were confused on how they're going to wrap us with 24k gold extract.... After they exfoliate you, they literally placed one of those emergency blankets that you use for camping or raves but one side was gold, tells you to lay on top, oils your whole body (you can't even see the gold extract) , then wraps your whole body with the emergency blanket, puts towels on top to secure the heat. I just felt like I was an oiled up rotisserie chicken baking in an oven. The facial and hair was my favorite part, but the massage was horrible. We asked for hard pressure but it was so rough. We've been to another Korean Spa together in Hawaii and it was the best massage we ever had. But my person felt like she was pressing all the wrong pressure points and I had to tell her in multiple areas to not go so rough. My lady also never asked me if everything was ok, but my cousins lady asked her all the right questions. At the end of our session we were smooth like a baby's bottom but sore in certain areas. Just to make up for it, we ended up back in the clay room to end the spa with and rinse our body. When you check out they'll give some goodies. All in all great amenities and snacks, but for $200 that massage experience package with the 24k special was not worth it at all, please take it off. read more

I have been to Pearl Spa several times and always have a wonderful experience. Such a good value for all the amenities you have access to. Be sure to go early to use the hot tub, sauna, and steam room before your treatment! The skin scrub does feel like them scrubbing you like a dead fish, but leaves you feeling so clean and soft. The ladies here scrub you with such vigor but then so tenderly towel you off at the end, I think it could heal your mother wounds. They always wash your hair at the end, and then they have nice Aveda products and a Dyson air-wrap to use after in the dressing room! First, the crown jewel of this place are their clay ball heated sauna and salt sauna rooms upstairs. Truly healing environments that are clean, quiet and the perfect way to end a massage. Dana's scrub down, oily massage and deep scalp hair wash treatment with a mini facial was amazing. I loved the human centric approach of bowls of water used to wash you down between treatments. It felt like a ritual more than a luxury service. I did say she made me feel like a queen. She had very strong and silky soft hands that worked all my knots. The experience is wonderful from the moment you step in the door and get your robe and shoes. The bath area is also clean and quiet. I felt like a new person after using their access products and high end hair dryers. Truly worth the effort to come to the city. If I lived here I would want a membership. You never really think your body could be as dirty as it is until you come in for a Korean scrub. And then you can be like me and be grossly fascinated by the rolls of black dead skin that is sloughed off by hand while you lay there naked and feel your eyes grow in shock. It's probably similar to watching videos of seeing blackheads get popped out. You can't help but watch until a whole 30 minutes go by and you realize you've just sat there wasting your time. It had been a few years since I've had a Korean scrub and let me tell you-- it was time. Once you get in, they hand you a pair of rubber flip flops and a bracelet with key access for your locker. Inside you'll find a robe to wear for the duration of your time inside the spa. The ladies give you a mini tour if you've never been. They have a whole area with showers, a jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and cold plunge on the bottom floor. Towels are available throughout so you can dry off anytime. On the second floor you'll find the salt room, clay room, and an area where you can just relax. They also have a dedicated dressing room stocked with all of your essentials you need to get ready. Hot tea + and purified water are provided for you to drink. Blowdryers are available for use for you along with hair ties in case you forget yours (I did). It goes without saying here that you are stripping down to get fully naked for your scrub. So if you're uncomfortable at all being around other women who are, then maybe this isn't the place for you. As for the scrub itself-- I wouldn't call it "pleasurable." You have one strong a** woman with some rough exfoliating mittens doing hard scrubbing on your body as you lay there. Another yelper said that it feels like your skin might come off. I would have to agree. While it does feel like this, trust the process. Your personal scrubber is doing her job to get all of the dead skin off-- along with all that buildup of lotion, oils and everything else that gets stuck on you. And the fun part? When she has you turn on your side and you can see the black rolls of dead skin on the table that just came off of you. Yes ladies.. I think I can speak for everyone who gets this done that there's not just a little.. There's a LOT of it. A few tips: *Come at least an hour before your treatment so that you can enjoy the facilities. Soak up in the jacuzzi, sit in the steam room, take a nap in the salt room or frolic like I did in the cold plunge. *Bring all of your makeup and toiletries so you can use their dressing room to get ready to meet the real world before you exit. They have Aveda brand shampoo/ conditioner hair products there but I also saw several women bring their own. read more

My absolute favorite place EVER!!! I can't recommend it enough! I have never been more relaxed. I have done the Silver Bell and Pure Bliss treatments and they were PHENOMENAL. The scrub is a must and always leaves my skin so soft, and tacking on a massage is always worth it. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon and what a fun experience! I didn't know what to expect when I came since I haven't gone to that many spas in SF, but super happy with my experience. Good: - Super nice staff, they explain everything and even told me how to do a cold plunge properly - The hot tub and sauna area are really clean, and they have a lot of amenities, like tea, and sanitized hair brushes - The massage I got was top tier and really was relaxing - They event gave me a nice face mask at the end Bad: - There are multiple floors with different stations so you have to climb a fair bit of stairs - Pricey but feels more worth than other places in SF.
