I absolutely love this vet. While they are a little pricey, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my cats. Dr. Justin Calhoun is the best and he always takes me seriously and is extremely knowledgeable. The customer service is incredible. They genuinely care about their clients, communicate everything clearly, and never make my worries feel dismissed. They always explore every possibility and make sure I understand what's happening throughout the process. They're also incredibly gentle and kind with my cats. They're always excited to see them, give them lots of attention, and handle them very carefully during exams while still getting everything done efficiently. I trust their opinions 100%, and they're now my primary vet for my cats. I'm so happy I found this practice! read more

We love everyone in this place, from the receptionist to the vet tech to the Doctors. When you come in, you are greeted warmly. It is not a fancy place, but that should not be a priority, care should be #1. We were at a fancy vet office previously and their care and kindness were mediocre. The vet tech first checks your pet and determines a plan for the day. You could ask her anything and she will share her professional and personal experiences. She has several dogs and cats at home. You can clearly see and feel that all employees love animals. Dr Reuger took all the time that we needed in our visit, answered all our questions and was very professional and kind as a vet. The most recent visit we had with the new vet, Dr. Calhoun who also has these same qualities and in our first visit with him really got to know our dog. He reviewed every bit of the chart, asked us all relevant questions related to our dog care, and even suggested some new arthritis treatment for our senior dog. We had a cat about 11 years ago and we took her here also. They provided excellent care then and when she passed away at home, the care and compassion for our beloved Ralphie, still to this day, warms my heart. I almost don't want to post this review because I don't want them to get too busy and not be able to see us quickly if there are problems, but I have to share good news . read more

Dr Phillips was egotistical & critical of end of life care for our pet. The vet techs were amazing & caring.

This is the worst vet practice I have ever used. Dr. Rueger is very rude and irresponsible. I had blood work done on my kitty, who had stopped eating. First, Dr. Rueger was supposed to call me in the morning with the results, which he did not call me. I waited until noon and I called him. Not available. I called again at 2:15, no one in the office. I went to the office, and surprise, there was someone in the office. "Oh, Dr. Rueger is out to lunch." (In more ways than one.) He came in and looked at the chart, addressed me in the lobby of the office, with other patient parents standing there and told me that all the blood work looked good except he had hyperthyroidism, not concerning. then he said, "No diagnosis." And walked into his office. That is not all with this facility. I got a prescription for my dog of Carprofen, 30 pills, they charged me $80. I got the same prescription from Chewy $18. That is not all. They filled a script for my dog of Gabapentin. In the bottle were two different pills. One was a antibiotic and the others were Gabapentin. That is not all. One of the assistants told me that I should not order from Chewy because they do not make sure their drugs are not out of date. Silly me. I have never had a bad experience with Chewy. This is just a fair warning. I am taking my kitty to a different vet today, so someone can tell me what is wrong with him, certainly Dr. Rueger had "no diagnosis." read more

Took care of everything with patience and brilliance. Vet Todd Phillips is just amazing. Likewise, Angela and Sarah were phenomenal. Had been a client for over 20 years. During the pandemic I missed paying a small bill that ended up going for collection. As soon as I got the collection notice, I immediately paid the outstanding amount and called Cherry Grove Animal Hospital right away to apologize. I explained that I had obviously overlooked the bill, as over the last few months both my husband and I had been very ill with Covid and my father had also passed away due to Covid during this time. The receptionist was very cold and told me that once a bill was turned over to collections that they would no longer provide services for our dogs. I asked if she would please talk to Dr. Rueger and explain to him that we have been clients for over 20 years and ask if he would please let us continue as clients. She put me on hold for about two minutes and then came back to the phone and told me that he had declined our request. read more

As a Hyde Park resident, I never thought I'd wind up going to Cherry Grove - my family pets had always been patients at Oakley & Hyde Park animal hospitals. Honestly, I can't tell you how/why I started going to Cherry Grove, but I think it had something to do with our SPCA pet insurance plan. Anyway, as somebody who is pretty familiar with Hyde Park, Oakley, and Cherry Grove, I cannot more highly endorse Cherry Grove. We have been taking our 2+ year old shih tzu mutt there since we adopted her. They have consistently recommended a course of treatment that is not overkill, but is enough to get the job done (i.e. they don't gouge me by recommending needless preventative care). Our dog came down with a cherry eye at about 1 year old, and their surgeons fixed her right up, and even provided me with written documentation to send to my insurer supporting the position that the condition was covered by my policy (SPCA insurance still denied the claim - DO NOT buy SPCA insurance - it is totally worthless, go with another third party insurer like Embrace). The cherry eye has not come back, and she had a speedy recovery. Just this past week, ragweed has skyrocketed in the Cincinnati area, and our dog has been a whining, itching, biting mess. She has itched from sun up to sun down, and was starting to hurt her coat and skin. I called Cherry Grove, they looked at her, and after I told them Benadryl didn't work, they prescribed a steroid/antihistamine combo. After giving our pup 2 pills six hours apart, she almost completely stopped itching and biting. Other local vets charge up to $3 a pill for those meds, 1800petmeds charges $.99 a pill, and Cherry Grove charged us $.78 a pill. Cannot recommend this vet more. read more

Cherry Grove is the primary vet that I go to in the Anderson area to take care of my dog. The staff are very friendly and they generally handle pets in a way that none are sitting in the waiting room when you come in. So if you have a very active or hyper dog, you don't have to worry about a lot of commotion starting from another animal in the room. So far my experience with this animal hospital has been limited to standard vaccinations from 8 weeks to my dog being spayed at roughly 7 months. Each time my dog has gotten along great with the staff on site. On occasion you might notice an accident from another animal, but like clockwork it is cleaned up immediately. All of the individual waiting rooms are cleaned after each pet leaves, leaving a very pleasant smell in the building. Overall I couldn't have asked for more when it came to finding a trusted vet in the area. read more

Dr is condescending, rude and said "we're accommodating you!" I said yes because I'm the customer, I can go elsewhere. All because as a concerned dog mom, single mom of 3, had to go get my son and so I asked a few questions. He repeated himself and talked over me, multiple times in the past. he's awful. Doesn't explain what he's doing before he does it, awful. Can't keep other dr's, now I know why. Poor assistants are so sweet and treated awful. read more

I experienced terrible customer service at Cherry Grove Animal Hospital. For many years, I have been their loyal customer, purchasing specialty prescription food for my 20-year-old cat, recommended by their veterinarian and carried in their store. Recently my cat passed away, and because I had a bag of unopened food left over, I went to their office to return it. They refused to refund my purchase, treated me with utter disrespect and showed an astounding lack of sympathy for my loss. When I questioned their poor customer service to a loyal patron, the secretary and veterinarian arrogantly stated that they've won an "Anderson Township Community Business Award" and then demanded I leave their office. Lesson learned - their respect and customer service is contingent on whether you are paying them. Their lack of sympathy for my loss, and inability to accept a simple return after almost 20 years of support, is very disappointing. The money is insignificant, but the way I was treated was not. I can only hope that the Anderson Township community does not tolerate or support these kind of business practices. read more

Best, most caring, honest and compassionate vets I've ever encountered in decades of owning dogs. There is never an "upsell" like many places where they push you to pay for expensive or unnecessary procedures. They treat these pets as if they're their own, from the staff to the vets themselves. Prices are always reasonable, and it is never difficult to get an appointment as they always find a way to squeeze us in if there's an emergency. Saturday hours are nice too! read more

I had a similar experience as a previous patron that wrote a review regarding Dr. Rueger at the Cherry Grove Animal Hospital. I have taken our cat there for many years and during the last couple of checkups, we explained to the vet several symptoms that our cat has been experiencing. Dr. Rueger never took any tests and said she was fine. A couple of months after that last checkup, she had a tremendous seizure. We rushed her to MedVet on Red Bank Road and the vet there said that she had a large developed brain tumor and there was nothing we could do for her. I wish Dr. Rueger would have been more thorough during the many years we have taken our cat there. I do not recommend taking your animal to their facility for care. read more

I had a very emergent situation with my chihuahua yesterday and my regular vet was closed. I showed up as a walk in. I didn't even know this vet was here, but, thank heavens I found them. They saved my dog's life. They were extremely kind and patient. They explained everything to me. Taking him to an er vet was not a financial option. Dr. Ruger advised me on a home remedy which was exhausting, but, worked. I'm taking it day by day with my sweet fur baby, but, what matters is he is with me today thanks to them. I believe that Dr. Rueger was 'called' to be a veterinarian. Our beloved Lab of nearly 13 years had to recently be Euthanized. Dr. Rueger took the time to call me in advance, to talk me through what I could expect etc. He was so considerate and scheduled it at a time when my daughter could be here too. Dr. Rueger was always so patient and kind w/ our dog, and with us. It was really hard to put Sanka to sleep, but Dr. Rueger and his assistant (Susan), were the Silver Lining to a VERY DARK CLOUD. About a week after, he sent us a sympathy card. You can really tell how much he loves animals. We were so fortunate to have him as our doctor for our furry family member. I am in to much pain from the loss to even consider another animal right now, but if I ever do get another, I will go back to Cherry Grove Animal Hospital. read more

The one good thing about Cherry Grove Animal Hospital is the staff. They are very friendly, courteous and professional. The bad parts are that the rooms are extremely small and you can barely move around in them. Also, my cat was "treated" and misdiagnosed on two different occasions by Dr. Rueger and now my poor cat has passed. He died about two months ago. I miss him terribly. First, he was diagnosed with kidney failure, and then with hyperthyroidism even though his blood tests were normal. We did the subcutaneous fluids and gave him medicine and he still wouldn't eat or get better. Well I was so worried about him, that I ended up taking him down to MedVet on Red Bank, and the Internist vet down there immediately ran tests and found advanced cancer in his stomach. Well, thanks to the misdiagnosis and lack of thoroughness and experience from Dr. Rueger, there was nothing I could do with the cat and it was too late. Blood work and an x-ray showed the cancer cells. It wouldn't have been that hard to do at Cherry Grove. I do not recommend taking your animal there. read more
