Wanted an estimate in changing ac compressor. I was was told I need to bring it in to check it out because it could be something simple. Took it in and within an hour they called and said the compressor was bad which is what I thought. But the kicker is charged 175.00 to tell me that and 1600 to replace. Which obviously would not have been concerned about price if I could have afforded such a bill. I was never told it was going to be 175.00 just to verify it needed. A compressor which I told them from the start. So hete I am out 175.00 for nothing. Lesson learned. read more

When a window repair didn't work when I picked up the vehicle, I was immediately treated extremely rude by their service counter person . I was told to bring it back another day and they would fix it. Then they tacked on another large bill for "calibrating" the new part they had installed to begin with, clearly the repair was not done correctly the first time. My 20 year old daughter was vacationing in Cherry Grove when the under panel of her car came loose and was dragging on the road. She took it to Cherry Grove Automotive at 4:10pm on a Friday (they close at 4:30). Not only did they repair it but they noticed that her tire pressure was low so they put air in her tires. DO NOT ever visit this NEW Cherry Grove Auto unless you want to be severely scammed! When Karen Dew was the owner, it was no doubt the best as I frequent it often for 25 years. My car was running hot so I took it there after a Machinic at NMB took out the radiator and found a small hole in the radiator. Recommended I take it elsewhere because he did have the right equipment and charged $30. I took it to Cherry Grove Auto and it took 2 days and they said that someone had put the wrong AC coolant in it and it gummed it up and I would have to take it somewhere else and had the audacity to charged me $355!!! They also said when called it was ready to pick up and if I didn't pick it up then, they would start charging some astronomical price per day?!?! Whaaaaat? So I then took it to James on 17N and they said it was a hole in the radiator and would have to order one from Germany. They did and fixed it! CGA then said that their machine misdiagnosed it?!?! I brought my Jeep in with a noise coming from my left rear tire. I told them that if they test drive to hear the noise, that they cant do it on a main road. Needs to be in a development where the noise can bounce off the houses. I have tried to record the noise, but the wind and tire noise interfere with it. They still charged me 60.00 and told me they only hear tire noise. They never took it where they should have and simply did a road test on a main road I explicitly told them wouldnt work. What was the point of telling you how to hear the noise if you were going to ignore my suggestion ? And then to charge me for it was ridiculous. Telling me its simply tire noise. I took my truck in for front brakes and rough idle, the replaced the brakes with new and told me they they don't know how to fix the rough idle but he could replace the plugs to see if the is a difference?!? The plugs were new if they bothered to look. I took it up the street to have the idle fixed and to find out they charged me $300 more than the going rate and there response was we charge everyone the same. dropped my vehicle off monday. tuesday i paid $509 for a battery replacement - yes a battery!! $110 diagnostic to tell me my battery was dead, $60 to remove and replace and $300 for the battery itself. went in to pay/get my keys and retuned after hours when i was able to pick up to a dead truck. returned this morning to be told the battery was not installed correcty. ive made three trips up there and have to make a fourth trip to pick up my vehicle this evening. no apolgoly, no compensation. read more

In April 2022 I had a remanufactured Rack and Pinion installed at a Napa affiliated shop in NY. In July while my family was visiting Grandma and I was back in NY, the Rack started to leak.... My wife took it to Cherry Grove, also a Napa affiliated shop. After speaking with Ray on the phone, I provided him with the work order number from when it had been done in April. He researched it on his end (even calling the shop in NY), finally calling me back explaining that it would be completely covered by Napa! Parts and Labor, that was $1,000 dollar bill otherwise! Honest and efficient! My family was staying in North Myrtle for vacation when the AC in my dads Sequoia decided to stop working. Dishonest scammers. Charged my elderly mother 1.5 hours of labor + parts to do a job that takes 20 minutes or less. Being a mechanic myself, I called and tried to come to a reasonable solution with them but reason is not something they possess. They do not care for being realistic, only following strictly whatever computer program they use tells them. If changing a wheel stud on a 2012+ subaru legacy take anyone an hour and a half, they don't belong working on cars. Took my car somewhere else and saved $500.00, was even charged $45.00 just for them to look at my brakes. They stated I needed more repairs than actually necessary. Told me I needed almost a whole new brake system instead of just a caliper and brake pads that I got elsewhere. Thought this would have been a better experience since they are AAA approved, however they also recommend you use a different towing company then going through AAA.
