Cheryl's Tiki Lounge and restaurant- do not waste your time visiting

If I could score less I would. This establishment claims to be a tiki lounge ( which is a bar)/slash restaurant. On April 18th 2026 around 5/6pm, myself and my boyfriend entered Cheryl's- we were greeted by a Caucasian woman . Who was VERY rude. We Asked if we could sit at the bar, she immediately asked if we were going to eat. I said "maybe just a drink" (wasn't sure on the menu at that point- would need to look at the menu while I have a "tiki" drink was my plan ). We then were asked to leave (very rudely) because she claimed we can't get service unless we are eating too. Verbatim she said " this is a restaurant not a bar". I have never been treated with such prejudice rude behavior as she looked me over and made that statement. I didn't even feel the need to explain that I talked my boyfriend into taking me there to have a Tiki drink at Cheryl's TIKI lounge before we decided on where to eat dinner. We were considering eating at Cheryl's once looking at the menu - at least an appetizer with our drink. But since we were greeted with such rudeness and prejudice- I just said okay and walked out. It's quite possible if you are brown in ethnicity, that you will get treated bad at Cheryl's. On first impression- it's small and looks dirty. Staff are rude. Bad decor and it's not a tiki lounge. I suggest they change the name. I will be sharing this on social media as well. So we ended up going to Moondog for dinner.. much better place and very friendly staff and the food was yummy.

Since 2004, this is the best place to dine in Rockport-period. The food, service and ambiance are unmatched. Consistency is important for building a restaurant's reputation and ensuring customer loyalty; and Cheryl's is inevitably consistent. Cheryl's is my go-to when I'm not in the mood to cook and my go-to recommendation to friends, family and visitors.

My husband and I are vegan they were super accommodating and mindful even changed out the butter on the artichoke app and left off the cheese on our salads. Totally blown away by flavor and presentation. Thanks

So good, we went back for brunch the next morning. Dinner and service were exceptional! I will always go here when I'm back in Rockport. The apps, drinks, dinner and dessert were so unbelievably delicious! You won't be disappointed.

Visiting from Galveston. Saw reviews on Yelp and wanted to try them out. Came in for brunch August 16, 2020 at 11am with 2 locals (who had never been here before either) Today, Cheryl has friend volunteers helping her because she has no staff. She had a lawyer and an accountant serving us!!! (They did great) We all had eggs benedict...2 classics and 1 fried oyster...we cleaned our plates. We all had mimosas and bloody Mary's...tasty SUPPORT LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS COVID practices in place with staff (except the owner, Cheryl didn't wear a mask...oops!) They even had one homemade sanitizer bottle on the table that you could keep.

We just celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary at Cheryl's By the Bay. I was overwhelmed with the love and joy we felt when we entered the restaurant. Cheryl personally made sure the flowers my husband had ordered were on the table waiting for us along with champagne. Cheryl, Kendra and Ernie made our night magical. We live in San Antonio but we visit Rockport several times a year and we ALWAYS dine at Cheryl's when we are there. Food is TERRIFIC. Love this restaurant and Cheryl and her staff.

Bartenders were not experienced and lacked knowledge and experience. Food overpriced in my opinion, value just not there

The finest food in Rockport. We love the spicy food and the spicy owner. We eat here every time we're in town.

I was disappointed with the main dish. I ordered the shrimp ajo and I could taste the shrimp bleached. My caipirinha was fine and salad.

We stopped midday on a recent road trip to this small town burger spot with 50s diner charm and friendly people. Just off the freeway a bit, this is a great place for a tasty meal, ice cream dessert or snack pleaser We enjoyed some fried pickles while we waited for our tortilla burgers ( we added avocado). The pickle chips and ranch dressing was good but a little too salty for my liking. The tortilla burger was a veggie loaded cheesy smashed beef burger in two fried tortillas. Greasy but good. Fall all apart but finger-lickability. With a side of hot fries, this filled us up quickly. But not too full to not partake in an ice cream shake for the road. Needless to say, we couldn't move for a good two hours but we felt great having a bucket list item checked and a satiated palate.

Outside crunch was a good thickness and the inside flavor was moist and yummy. It came with a homemade remoulade that was the perfect accompaniment. For dinner I had the Crab Crusted Redfish. The crab was mild, the redfish was cooked perfect with a thin line of crisp edges. The risotto was very thick, the consistency of stiff mashed potatoes. Our server was polite and knowledgeable. I will definitely be going back to try more dishes!

I had originally tried to come here for dinner the previous night and sort of glad I didn't bring my big group here as their prices are a little high with a big group and the wait was crazy long that night anyway. Entree prices range from 28-62 for most items, unless you order basic fried seafood or their pasta dish. I did grab some oysters while I was here. The bartender indicated they were farm-raised from Port Aransas and similar in size as east coast oysters, which I prefer over Gulf oysters. The oysters ended up being very good and clean, but they are definitely briny. The oysters are served with just cocktail and horseradish...nothing special. Their lemon is covered with a net to capture the seed, which is a common feature at nicer restaurants. They also open your Tabasco bottle for you. I enjoyed my cocktail, but it is something I have made at home, so it wasn't anything too special for me.
