Went on a Monday afternoon. Place was not too busy. Good thing we weren't really hungry - yet. Ordered our drinks. Tea was brewing and took 10 mins and a reminder to the waitress that I had not gotten my tea yet. Our table ordered pickle chips. 15 mins later waitress comes back and says they are out of pickle chips. When our food came out 30 mins after no fried shrimp for the fish and shrimp platter. Waitress says, "we are out of fried shrimp." Miscommunication or not hearing led to two small pieces of extra fish and no shrimp at all . And extra waiting . No refills except when we asked and sat for another 15 mins after finishing to get our bill. I ended up walking to the register and asked for the bill. They did give us credit for the fish and shrimp platter but tried to charge us for pickle chips we didn't get. More miscommunication. Everything culminated into a very frustrating visit. read more

Place looks fabulous and everyone was friendly. The food was akin to bar food, and the fish breading was like chicken fried steak breading. Not battered. Their food is shipped in and premade, they just deep fry it. Star of the show was the hamburger - very tasty! The air conditioner drips condensation on your food as you eat. The service was pretty slow considering there was a lot of staff and the place was almost empty, but our server was really sweet and we liked her it just seemed like everyone was all over the place. We got the fish platter and it came with one large piece of grouper, 6 fried shrimp, fries, and sweet coleslaw- it was 29.99, we are full but the quality of the fish was a little disappointing- loved the shrimp though! I would come back to hang out outside and order drinks and an appetizer, but I would not come back for a lunch or full dinner. Our food was fantastic!! We got the Yarbaritas Burger, the bacon and cheese burger and a chicken sandwich and chicken tenders. All absolutely delicious. We were very impressed with the side wedged fries and onion rings. Cooked just right. Our server was Stephanie and she was very helpful. Made sure our drinks were full and our needs were met. They went above and beyond to accommodate my precious 2nd grade daughter; diagnosed ADHD w/ autistic tendencies. She's had trouble with having confidence in regards to eating at restaurants- this was the first experience that was so profoundly positive, my daughter's mindset was forever transformed! We now make it a point to try other places, at our daughter's request!! But Yarbitas remains the ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!! We've returned many times and it's consistent in every aspect!! The food was not the best and the service was worse. Table next to us had a dead fly in their food. Our food was finally brought to us after 2 hours of waiting and inquiring about it all to find out that the order was never put in. All the tables around us left apologizing that they had received their food before us even though we ordered first but told us we should leave before it gets to us because it wasn't worth the wait or the price. Waited on sweet and low for half an hour before I had to get up and get it myself from another table. It's literally just burgers and chicken since they have a "quick service menu" and there are literally only 10 tables to service downstairs. It was a simple burger with a small meat patty and did not impress. The service was adequate but all the staff seemed distracted and not well trained. Seafood platter was $30 and got a handful of shrimp with fish NUGGETS. it was not good. Same for the shrimp basket. The hushpuppies in the basket were completely raw in the middle. The flavor was lacking. I got the chicken the only thing that made it better was the bbq sauce. Speaking of the sauce. I had asked 3 times for a refill of my drink and sauce. I ordered sauce with my food and never got it. I asked for a refill and sauce and the waitress never brought it even though she was going to other tables never acknowledged us. I had to get up from eatin to go to the counter waitress was rude when I asked for a refill. I finally got my drink and bbq sauce. The waitress never checked on us at all. I will NEVER be back. $109 later and I could have went to McDonald's to get better customer service and better food there. Not to mention they had probably 4-5 other waitress or workers there. my friend and i ate here for the first time on a sunday at 12ish and we expecting a normal lunch rush. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and he got the "world famous" pot roast quesadillas. the server later informed us (maybe 20 minutes later) that they don't have pork roast available. so he just changed it to Chicken Quesadillas then they took a very long time for our food to come. we then received our food but under their menu (not pictured) it had the quesadillas as an entree (not an appetizer) and then said that entrees come w fries and if you want onion rings it's an up charge. we don't remember it saying anywhere that it didn't come with a side. we were not informed the quesadillas didn't come with fries by the server and thought it would come with fries. we were super hungry and disappointed after the waiter told us it comes with no sides. then our waiter went to fill up my drink and never came back until we waved her down so i can get it back. i did enjoy my chicken sandwich but my friend said the quesadillas were definitely NOT world famous. we understand lunch rush, but we weren't asking for a lot since we were a party of 2. Loved it! Stopped here on the way back to Austin from a long weekend in Corpus Christi's North beach. Called ahead from the gas station to see if it was dog friendly. Mike was super friendly and told us that the 1st floor patio welcomed dogs! Destiny was our waitress and she was lovely! Super attentive and sweet and answered all of our questions about the menus and was kind to our pup. The burger was delicious and I loved the bun! My husband enjoyed the fish tacos! We were enticed by the hammocks and waterfront view of Yarbarita's and stopped in for dinner. I read a few reviews and saw people talking about the Hammerhead drink so I ordered it. The flavor is kind of like a rum punch with a lot of sweet and sour mix. They say there are five liquors in it but I didn't really taste any of it. The food was, in a word, plain. Take a look at the photos to see what I mean. The sliders came with a patty and lettuce. No grilled onions as mentioned on the menu, and the burgers were dry. The flounder sandwich similarly was missing the coleslaw described on the menu and came with two fish sticks on bread. The food was kind of like eating an adult portion of a kids meal. The bread was good though. Now onto the service-- first of all, the hostess (I think) is great. I didn't catch her name, but she greeted us before we even stepped foot on the premises and cleaned a table off for us right away. After we were seated though, we waited for about 10-15 minutes before we were helped and there seemed to be a lot of confusion about which servers were helping which tables. Stopped in for a casual bite and some drinks. Ended up having one of the best snacks of our trip. The alligator bites were out of this world, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. The fired shrimp was equally incredible, seasoned just right and cooked to perfection. Katelyn took care of us and made the experience even better. She was kind, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcomed. She's a total gem. Don't miss their happy hour. The food here was just ok but the frozen drinks they have are really good. Food menu has a different mix of things. The service was very friendly and honest, like a diner server. Even though they offer mixed drinks and have alcohol, the server will quickly correct you that they "are not a bar" if you ask to mix the daiquiri flavors. Just a little hiccup. The coolest thing about this place is that it is right across the street from the bird rookery! You can easily do some bird watching from their patio. I wish the swings were more plentiful or on the top deck. Overall, enjoyed our visit and would return. read more

We waited for over 40 minutes for our order, which mind you, we ordered 3 meals and a basket of French fries. There was a party of 5, that arrived AFTER us, full meals and they got their food before us. I stood up and decided to leave with my family. As I was walking up to the counter, where I could clearly see that the waitress, Stephanie was handling yhe shrimp with her bare hands and wiping them against her shorts! Disgusting to say the least!
